hey everyone ive been making beats for around a couple of years now, and im wondering how to better my production or things im doing wrong? i am trying to grow even further but reaching a point where im not sure the next steps
https://open.spotify.com/album/2JfBS6f5MyTikgQmUBZDkP?si=q385EjGQR1WJtc7Q5Zucbg
this is my most recent release
thank u
Have been sampling for 6 months or so now, all from digital sources, but would love to sample the £1 records and tapes in the shops where I live.
I was planning on buying an old cassette player and an old vinyl player from eBay or Facebook marketplace, but is there anything I should watch out for? Any compatibility issues? I’m not worried about damaging records as I’ll only be buying cheap ones.
Sampling into a Roland P6 atm for what it’s worth.
I have released 2 beat-tapes so far. My first one did okay for having no followers but I feel like barely anyone listened all the way through. My second has no streams at all. Maybe I need to be more patient since it's only been 2 days since the second but it feels crazy that my first one got ~50 streams while my second bas none even though I've been advertising the second a good amount.
I've been reading forums on Reddit for months and watching hours of videos on YouTube normalization for LUFS but still, despite continuous tests, once loaded my beats continue to sound lower than the others, I even found a beat that has the same percentage of normalization of mine but the difference is abysmal. Please help me.
I am creating a playlist of fellow up & coming artists to feature on our Artist profile and hopefully generate some additional listens.
You will be featured alongside tracks from our latest EP, so check the spotify link in my bio to see if you want to be included.
I will share the link when it's complete / featured so you can check it out and share / feature it yourselves
So im looking for other producers to collab with. I make all kinds of genres but my specialty is dark drill beats, Jerk Drill, jersey and Trap. I got a couple underground artists im working with
Furthermore im looking for new artists to work with. I am also capable of mixing and mastering vocals to sound very good on a beat.
For beat references go to youtube and type "808 BRVNDO" I got a lot of beats uploaded. Allthough my best ones i keep to myself :)
I'm looking for rappers that could rap as Lil Baby on my beats and we can make it into a full length album, i got a way to release it in spotify without being taken down. hmu if you're interested i'll send you some beats that i already made for the project
if you're gonna comment just to flame me, don't waste your time i know people will hate this
any like new artist need vocals mixed, just send instrumental and raw vocals and i have autotune and whatnot i just wanna practice mixing n shit oh and for FREE too.
Hello I'm a 14yo kid from Serbia. Yep you heard it, that is the problem. No producer wants to put their beats and time into a 14yo Slavic kid, yet the one that gave me a chance was impressed, but for some reason he left me. I don't have the usual accent what is the most common stereotype because i have lived in the US for a year in Boston. I like to listen to the likes of: Eazy e, Nas, all of D12, all of the Nwa, all of the Wu Tang clan, 50, pac, biggie, mob deep etc. I would prefer if you have the same music taste like me but i also listen to the newer rappers like Kendrick and jinn and juice (whatever their name is) and to the older ones like slick rick etc. I prefer raping on a slower repeated beet like a 90s type one. if you are down please DM me on reddit and upvote so i can find more opportunities. Hope we work out and please give me a chance.
May be a silly question but .... have any of yall who made beats for rappers decided to just pivot and release your beats yourself ?
Im thinking of taking this route but a lil clueless on how to even market it
Welcome to Freestyle Friday! If you're a producer - feel free to donate a beat down below in reply to the beat submissions comment. If you're a rapper - scroll down to choose a beat, then record a freestyle over it. You can post whenever, just have fun!
Beats go under the "beats" comment; freestyles go under the "freestyles" comment.
I'm trying to find some info about it. Were there well known pioneers or like a milestone albums made digitally that influenced a lot of people or anything like that.
Google search suggests 1990s but I don't know if that's accurate because I remember when Soulja boy did "Crank dat" in 2006 and a lot of people seemed taken aback that he used what was then fruity loops to make the beat.
One album I know that was somewhat pioneering but not in the US, was Original Pirate Material by the UK group "The Streets." The album was highly regarded but was influenced by the UK garage scene which I believe was already into digital production by then.
Show us your latest track! Feedback is always welcome but not necessary.

I watched a video called 'What makes Meet the Grahams sound scary" and started detuning my samples/instruments ±40 or so semitones in a few of my beats. He talks about this at the beginning of the video.
It’s a small tweak that noticeably changes the whole vibe imo. It's something I never really thought of doing before. I always just kept my beats in key. I'm just curious if any of you have ever tried something like this in your production.
EDIT: cents not semitones
Hello guys, how are you?
This time I wanted to know if you could give me an idea of what to do with a problem I have regarding copyright.
It turns out that 1 year ago I uploaded a beat that I created to my YouTube channel and to beatstars, that beat worked quite well, it got more than 500k views to date, and the sales of licenses for said beat were also good.
Here comes the problem, it turns out that approximately 2 months ago an artist bought the standard license for my beat to be able to upload his song to the different streaming platforms (he uploaded it through distrokid).
When the artist uploaded his music to DistroKid, a week later I received a copyright claim on my YouTube beat, so I could no longer monetize it. I contacted the artist and he had indeed purchased a license to upload his song. I contacted distrokid support but they didn't give me much help, in fact it took them weeks to respond at all.
The only thing I want is to be able to monetize my YouTube video since the visits are still increasing and that generates me extra money. Has it happened to anyone? What could I do in these cases? This topic really brought me down because these copyright claims can generate a shadow ban on my YouTube channel. :(
If something similar happened to someone and found a solution, I would appreciate it if you let me know! thank you very much for reading me!
Listening to a playlist of unknown rappers and they all fire.
Doing things I thought were unique to me and doing it even better 😂
I'm in the search for a small "idea box". I got a synth recently and was playing with it in my bed and realized it would be satisfying to have the ability to add kicks, snares, baselines, leads etc. Im now in the market for a groove box that I can make 80's / synthwave / trap type music. Do you guys have any recommendations? Im currently in my "hardware" phase! I know the Elektron stuff is popular and it looks physically appealing, but all I hear on it are hardcore techno things that I have no interest in. Thanks!
Products I'm considering are:
OP-XY
SP404 mkii
Elektron Series (digitakt syntakt etc)
Push 3 Standalone
MPC One

Hello!
I’ve been trying producing for a little over a year now. started off just rapping off yt beats in my car during a security job, and now making my own songs.
I’ve had distrokid for about 6 months now(?) and I released some whatever songs so far under a name i dont care much about. it was more so about me getting rid of the burden i feel regarding holding onto my music, and i get to listen to on apple music, super cool!
That said, Ive been working an actual real personal project, and it has a lot of songs (still deep work in progress). I’m just thinking about it from the long term, and its definitely not like these songs are top notch quality, but I find myself in a dilemna.
do i release under the same name i used last time?
or maybe utilize the 2nd artist option that distrokid offers me?
and i know ive said alot so far, but I’ve heard that releasing a random album out of nowhere with no listeners isn’t the move. i guess what i’m asking is should i release more singles? haha, i don’t have a single one!
Finally, as a bonus question, what do we think of distrokid? Should i be chilling there?
Thanks for any responses love yall and goodluck on the music!
i feel like i’ve been shadowbanned on socials from people that use to love my music or friends or really anyone. man i was really picking up momentum last year.. then my 2 of my best friends past away that i really like wanted their validation to know if my songs were dope or not. i hit a huge drug induced depression and really like shut out the whole world. i was like legit alone all last year. it was hard… but it was a serious time for growth maturity wise and figuring out who was really wanting me to succeed in life and who didn’t give a fuck.
but anyways… like i am making some seriously fire (to me) music and i know that i have the gift that people would kill for. i freestyle everything and the melodies and lyrics that just naturally flow out of me are MOST DOPE. but i am a 1 man team. i am trying to do it all while keep afloat w/ having 3 little boys. (hints why my name has 3Gs in it - cuz im raising 3 G’s)
my music is there. my presentation is not. instagram & tiktok are sick of my posts lol and i don’t know where to go from here if anyone has been here and pushed thru and progressed to a new level please! let’s chop it up. it would mean a lot to me. ~shagggy1of1
I need like a hip hop buddy who can hear my ideas and give their opinions and their takes so I don’t over think my work or overlook something important.
I’m locked in my head 24/7 and I guard my ideas but I recognize the value of other opinions so anyone interested dm me we can have a working relationship and I’ll share my ideas and thoughts on your works as well.
Hi I am a small time Streamer. Who stream on Twitch and TikTok (TaztheTarnished). I love using my platform to promote others and their talents. I want to know is there a discord or place i can connect with artists and preview some of their music on my stream every Tuesday and Thursday and Sundays.
Hey everyone, I'm a brand new artist (been producing and rapping for years but just started putting out music publically) and I wanted your opinions on something.
I'm bilingual (French/English) and want to make music in both languages but can't decide if I want to use separate artist names for both languages.
I feel like doing both under the same name kinda defeats the point because half of my (nonexistent) fanbase wouldn't understand half of my discography but I also feel like splitting my discography between two artist names would just fragment my listeners if I ever did get a fanbase, plus I'd need to upgrade my distrokid plan to have multiple artist names...
What do y'all think?
This may seem like im glazing myself, but I'm not. My beats are quite weird, and I fell that my ideas are to advanced for my skill lvl. Which can lead to feeling frustrated and burnt out. Can production be too unique, and how do I not feel burned out?
Every night right before I fall asleep, a unique and perfect beat flows through my mind like a divine revelation. But I’m too sleepy to compose it. By the time I wake up, I’ve already forgotten it. What do you guys do when you get ideas but can’t compose them right away?
Hi! I'm a producer and I'm looking for a native English speaker rapper to collaborate with on a trap song.
I'd love to hear something you've made (both written and recorded) so I can get an idea of what you're capable of.
It's also important that you have a decent microphone and audio interface so we can create a high-quality song, this is really important to me.
I'm not famous, and I don't think we'll get famous or make even a cent, so the idea is to do it for the passion, but with the intention and dedication to make a Billboard hit, at least in terms of quality.
The deal is pretty simple: I produce, mix, and master the song; you write and record the vocals, then send them to me so I can finish the song and release it on streaming platforms with both names as primary artists.
If this sounds good to you, drop your music, and let's make some great stuff!
If linking music isn't allowed in this sub, feel free to send me a DM so we don't break any rules.
Thanks.
