Rules:
#1.) Respect One Another: This is super simple stuff. If you have criticism about someone's fanworks, be constructive about it. Don't name call. Most certainly don't use racial slurs, sexist slurs or put anyone down or harass anyone. Remember, treat others as you want to be treated. "But he did it first" is not an appropriate defense.
#2.) No Explicit Content: Reddit has a policy against underage characters in sexual or suggestive situations that can be read here: (https://www.reddithelp.com/en/categories/rules-reporting/account-and-community-restrictions/do-not-post-sexual-or-suggestive). Since many of the characters in Magical Girl Content could be considered as such, hentai, porn and nudity is banned, as well as depictions of "suggestive" situations. This extends to both visual and written works.
#3.) No Pirating / Torrents / Illegal Websites: Don't post or ask about direct links to torrents, unofficial downloads, or streaming websites. This includes fansubs, music files, and manga scans.
#4.) No Spam: Spam on /r/magicalgirls is defined as any link not relevant to Magical Girls/Mahou Shoujo. Anything else reported as "spam" will be handled on a case-by-case basis as decided by the moderators and will be removed if deemed as spam. It is currently of the moderators' opinion that if something is Magical Girl-related, then the community should determine whether it remains up top or not through the upvote and downvote system.
#5.) Common Sense: Don't scam. Don't be an obnoxious jerk. Don't do something horrendous then claim "you weren't really breaking a rule because it's not written here!". We'll just warn/ban you. The short version of this rule is "Would you want it done to you? No? Don't do it."
#6.) Crediting Fan Art: Boils down to: Post the artist's name in title or a comment added into the post.. If not known, please say so in the title, or a comment, so someone can help you figure it out.
#7.) Rules Lawyering: These rules are short and curt to give mods the most discretion. They are not meant to be 'Rules Lawyer'ed'. Continually rule lawyering the rules will lead to you being removed from the subreddit. Please, also, do not backseat moderate.
#8.) Restricted Series: You may not post images or videos from the following series: Gushing Over Magical Girls, Magical Girl Site. It's because these shows deal with either highly inappropriate topics, (eg: Child Abuse. Sexual Abuse.) or are just Ecchi and break ratings. This list may be expanded in the future, so please check it.
#9.) No Advertising/Selling/Referrals : Referral links are not allowed, period. Advertising for Products or Services are not allowed. This includes websites where the goal is to sell your product or sell your service. If you wish to advertise that on Reddit, or target this subreddit, you will need to go through https://ads.reddit.com. Advertisement for personal projects you just want traffic to are allowed. Does not include occasional personal Ebay links, or alerting of sales/discounts on bigger name sites.

Hello everyone,
WE all know and Love Magical Girls.
But WHO do you think, is THE Magical Girl. WHO embodies the values and the Mission of an Magical Girl the best?
For me, IT IS the one and only Sailor Moon
I was in a Southern California grocery store recently and their Holiday Season commercial started playing,
"We're harvesting hope in your community."
My first thought is, really? You sound like a Magical Girl villain.
"We're harvesting hope in your community. It will be a wasteland of despair. Mwahahaha!"
Please tell me I'm not the only one who can see this.
So here how this will go record your own voice of the character you want to be and I pick who gets the role one by one.
the characters:
Akira/miracle gems: main character (female)
Masumi/miracle emerald (female)
Kelsei/miracle Ruby (female)
Mukume/miracle sapphire (female)
Junko/miracle topaz (yellow) (female)
Hèn/main villain (female)
Tǎoyàn/sidekick (male)
ps: I’m scared of this and those are Chinese names for the last two
I just settled on her colour scheme
Sasha Arax was a college student when she was accosted by the little blue mascot on her way home from university and given her contract. In exchange for completing a small list of tasks (Rated medium by the Mascot) she could gain upgrades and level her powers up. Thinking she was going crazy and seeing things she accepted the deal.
Her role is more of a bulldozer, a tank who tends to be able to crush and temporarily use the powers of opposing magical girls. She currently has the local record for match wins, and is known as Barbarella by the retired magical folk
those kinds of songs are absolute bangers! i'm looking for more and just wondering if anyone has recs? :D
for reference, some i really love are hajimari no resolution (zettai bouei leviathan) and dreaming sound (waccha primagi) ^_^
Everybody shares their magical girls, so here's mine. Her name is Yuki, and she will be a part of a team of 4 for an RPG in the works.
So I got the story && name down. All there is to do now is to get started on making the first chapter. Hopefully it won’t take long & certainly hope you guys will stay tuned
Im creating a sci fi/magical girl comic rn, and the main magical girls have retired and come back into the service for Earth and I was wondering, since Magical Girls gain their powers from an external force, where in their developement do they turn into a nye on unkillable warlock like being? Because if they are able to complete their side of the contract, wouldn't that class them as the enemies? Sorry! while im not new to the genre I am trying to solidify the concept.
I'm a huge fan of magical girls but haven't watched a lot of the new stuff save for Pretty Cure, so what are some new great series? Came out in the last few years I mean. Any genre/ content. Thanks!
Has anyone heard of the new magical girl comic on webtoon? New Magical me? It's an interesting premise about an adult magical girl and what happened after the defeat of the main villain and the death of her friend and leader. It's still starting and ongoing so I felt like giving y'all a heads up about it
I love the sweetness in this one! 🥰🧜♀️💙
I've been wanting to read some old magical girl manga but there are so many different ones that I genuinely don't know which ones are good. The only ones that I have fully read so far are Tokyo mew mew and Madoka Magica. I've been wanting to collect some older magical girl manga with the original printings being from the 2000s or older. or at least ones from older series with newer printings. I'm also looking for one that's a bit on the shorter side and won't cost me more than $100 to get the full set.
I'm thinking of writing a Magical Girl LitRPG story, not much in the way of hard numbers but at least using a general framework like you'd see in an RPG. However, one issue I've come across is trying to think up unique classes and skills and such that don't feel too similar to what you'd see in a regular fantasy LitRPG, which usually boils down to the 'Holy Trinity'-DPS, Tank, and Healer.
I've been struggling on how to work around this for a little while, and have had some success, but I think I finally hit a breakthrough. The Holy Trinity is designed around just combat, particularly for dungeons and big bosses (of course, I'm just generalizing here). That's not what Magical Girls are about, at least not entirely. Half the process is defeating bad guys, but the other half is saving people, which creates a whole new axis of interaction!
For example, DPS are fully focused on the enemy, they can't really help others most of the time. Tanks might've able to draw aggro from civilians, but depending on AOE range and how widespread a group of monsters are, that might not be particularly effective. Healers definitely can help civilians stay alive, and probably have the most utility on this new axis, but then they're splitting valuable energy between their teammates and all the civilians in danger.
All that said, this new dual-goal setup allows for more class diversity, but I'm not sure what potential classes could specialize into this new niche. Anyone know any resources I could take some inspiration from, or have any ideas you wouldn't mind me using? Thank you in advance!
It's pretty dubious on if it counts as a magical boy series but I think it counts, and I'm just wondering if anyone here knows it because it was the series that got me into anime so it's pretty important to me, but yet I have literally never found another fan of it. Has anyone else here seen, or perhaps read, it?
