Has ML Have Any Plans To Release A Port To The Canon Rebel T7 [2000D]

I am 100% new to any sort of camera modding.

I would love to use Magic Lantern on my Canon 2000d, but I do not have the know-how to rom dump like some forums have informed.

Does anyone have any plans to make a magic lantern port to the 2000d?

Will the camera refocus in between shots when using the intervalometer?

I'm looking at buying a Canon 70d and using ML. I just wanted to check if the camera will autofocus between shots when using the intervalometer. I know most people don't want this functionality when shooting timelapses but I will need to refocus.

Reddit is killing third-party applications (and itself). Read more in the comments.

We are considering extending the blackout at r/MagicLantern If we do, please don't forget that we can be reached at Discord.

On July 1st, 2023, Reddit intends to alter how its API is accessed. This move will require developers of third-party applications to pay enormous sums of money if they wish to stay functional, meaning that said applications will be effectively destroyed. In the short term, this may have the appearance of increasing Reddit's traffic and revenue... but in the long term, it will undermine the site as a whole.

Reddit relies on volunteer moderators to keep its platform welcoming and free of objectionable material. It also relies on uncompensated contributors to populate its numerous communities with content. The above decision promises to adversely impact both groups: Without effective tools (which Reddit has frequently promised and then failed to deliver), moderators cannot combat spammers, bad actors, or the entities who enable either, and without the freedom to choose how and where they access Reddit, many contributors will simply leave. Rather than hosting creativity and in-depth discourse, the platform will soon feature only recycled content, bot-driven activity, and an ever-dwindling number of well-informed visitors. The very elements which differentiate Reddit – the foundations that draw its audience – will be eliminated, reducing the site to another dead cog in the Ennui Engine.

We implore Reddit to listen to its moderators, its contributors, and its everyday users; to the people whose activity has allowed the platform to exist at all: Do not sacrifice long-term viability for the sake of a short-lived illusion. Do not tacitly enable bad actors by working against your volunteers. Do not posture for your looming IPO while giving no thought to what may come afterward. Focus on addressing Reddit's real problems – the rampant bigotry, the ever-increasing amounts of spam, the advantage given to low-effort content, and the widespread misinformation – instead of on a strategy that will alienate the people keeping this platform alive.

If Steve Huffman's statement – "I want our users to be shareholders, and I want our shareholders to be users" – is to be taken seriously, then consider this our vote:

Allow the developers of third-party applications to retain their productive (and vital) API access.

Allow Reddit and Redditors to thrive.

HELP! I installed Crop Mood on the EOS M But

But it's not recording.

I did enable crop mood and tried recording in all crop settings in all resolutions, yet when I press record button it records in 1920x1088 at 25fps (default setting on vanilla)

I don't want to record raw but 10bit for now.

When I enable Raw it gives me MLV files which I don't want right now.

Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong?

I'm using Sandisk Ultra 140mbps card

We're joining the Reddit blackout from June 12th to 14th, to protest the planned API changes that will kill 3rd party apps

Hey there r/MagicLantern

One of the less enjoyable mod posts today, but an important one, that we hope you'll take the time to read.

Recently Reddit Inc has announced changes to their API which, if enacted, will shut down many, if not all, 3rd party apps that a large number of Redditors use to access and enjoy their favorite communities - this one included.

One of the most critical changes to the API is that it is moving from a free to a paid model, resulting in expenses that developers of 3rd party apps simply cannot afford. To put the price change in to context, Apollo, one of the most popular 3rd party apps for Reddit, is looking at a cost of $1.7 million per month to continue operating. That's a cost of $12,000 per 50 million API requests. In contrast, Apollo pays Imgur $166 for every 50 million API calls.

This means popular apps like Apollo, Reddit Is Fun, Narwhal and many more will have to shut down, permanently.

Even if you're not using a 3rd party app yourself, these changes are likely to impact the communities you enjoy as well, with the vast majority of moderation teams relying on 3rd party or self-made tools, that utilise Reddit's API.

And on top of all that, it paints a bleak picture of what is to come for those of us who use other tools, like Reddit Enhancement Suite and old.reddit.com.

Here's a little TLDR on why this is important.

So what are we planning?

On June 12th, we and a growing number of other subs - large and small - will go dark for 48 hours. During that time, you will not be able to view or post any content on r/MagicLantern.

We understand that Reddit is a company that has to make money in order to offer us a place to be the community that we are - but killing beloved 3rd party apps is not they way to do it.

We are not asking Reddit to provide a paid service for free - we are asking for reasonable pricing for apps that people have come to love and depend on to participate in their communities.

We can't tell you that the blackout will solve the problem, because we simply don't know. But we have to try.

What you can do to support this

While subs going dark is one thing, regular users can help as well.

Reach out to Reddit via the channels available to you: Modmail r/reddit, comment in relevant posts regarding the API changes, submit your comments via the contact forms.

Spread the word about the changes and the consequences where you can. Doesn't have to be on Reddit. The important thing is getting it attention.

Participate in the communities that highlight this issue: r/Save3rdPartyApps, r/apolloapp, r/redditisfun, r/getnarwhal/

And finally stay off Reddit completely from June 12th to 14th. The blackout is one thing, but users staying away from the site entirely will send an equally important message.

We're at Discord if you need support during this time.

Magic Lantern for EOS M question

Hi, I have had my Canon EOS M for about a year and a half now and have decided to give magic lantern a try, but am a beginner to ML and have had no previous experience apart from YouTube videos.

My camera's firmware version is 2.0.3 rather than 2.0.2. Do you think it is more practical and safer to download the ML for the 2.0.3 firmware which seems to have had less testing, or just change my camera's firmware down to 2.0.2 instead and download the magic lantern 2.0.2 version instead. My main priority is just not bricking the camera, as I can't afford another camera right now.

Any help much appreciated!

Is there a ML Forum global mod here?

I have suddenly been banned for using a spam IP, which I find strange, It seems to have occurred when I switched from IKEv2 to Wireguard. My IP is set by Windscribe(paid version) I have little or no control. The message said to message a global moderator, I've no idea what one is.

Canon EOS M stuck on black screen! Please help!

I recently installed Magic Lantern (ML) on my Canon EOS M camera with the 2.0.2 firmware.

However, after using ML for a while, I decided to uninstall it. In my understanding, I believed that deleting all the files from the SD card would be sufficient to remove ML.

Consequently, I deleted everything from the SD card, assuming it would restore the camera to its original state.

However, I am now facing an issue where the camera only functions properly when there is no SD card inserted. Whenever I insert an SD card and turn the camera on, the screen remains black. I am unsure about the appropriate steps to rectify this situation.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve this problem.

I feel stupid asking this but I just don't understand. How come that if you crop you reach higher resolutions?

Extreme noise in all conditions, Please Help

Hello everyone, I recently bought my own Canon EOS M after watching a lot of videos on the subject and being very interested in achieving cinematic footage on a low budget. However, when I first used the camera, I discovered a significant amount of noise in my footage. At that time, I had the typical 15-45 kit lens, so I dismissed it and tried to compensate by lighting my footage with real lights and keeping my ISO as low as possible.

Frustrated with always needing to light my footage, I purchased a 50mm f/1.8 lens to maintain good lighting through the wider aperture. Unfortunately, even after this upgrade, I continued to experience noise issues. To troubleshoot the problem, I decided to go outside and test if extreme natural light would still result in noise in my footage, and unfortunately, it did.

I am unsure why this is happening to me because when I see everyone else's footage, it looks like it came straight out of a Red camera, but my footage is consistently awful. Could someone please help me with this matter?

Indoors, I shoot at 50mm with an aperture of f/1.8, a shutter speed of 1/50, and an ISO setting of 100.

Outdoors, I shoot at 50mm with an aperture of f/1.8, a shutter speed of 1/50, and an ISO setting of 100.

Overcranking...FPS...higher speed videography

I have an EOS550D/EOS Rebel T2i and had Magick Lantern running since 2015 (uh I think).

I have really liked slowing the frame rate down in low light conditions (to playback at 25fps) and wonder about going the other way, trying to film bursts of higher frame rate sequences.

I am mindful that to do this, dialling down the resolution is likely required, but am curious to understand if some improved performance can be further obtained than is available beyond the standard of firmware upgrades shipped via ML. If the heat isn't a problem, nor the writing of smaller resolution images to cards, what might the difference be between useful EOS series cameras and the vastly more expensive high speed cameras?

How might the capabilities of an individual camera be inspected by enthusiasts?

$180kit - eBay Long Shot

UPDATE: It was a scam, the user deleted their account and eBay has already refunded the $.

I won this kit from a seller in Israel with 0 reviews. It shows as shipped but the chances of this thing arriving and it not being a scam is pretty low. But hey, eBay guarantees so at least I can get my $ back if it never arrives. I just need positive vibes from the ML community that this thing actually arrives for the $180 I paid. The first thing I'm doing is loading ML! Fingers crossed!

Overlay does not line up correctly.

Hi all,

This is kinda hard to explain, but I'm having issues with the overlay on my 700D.

To give you an idea of what you're looking at; I took a photo (the overlay) and left the camera where it was. I then took this photo of the TV tethered to the camera. It does this regardless of whether it is tethered or not.

https://preview.redd.it/rrwnzp46pc0b1.jpg?width=4160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e0370ad55beb4ccd475f8aa3513f814da8498bb

As you can see the overlay doesn't line up with what the camera is seeing. The overlay is a good inch higher than what the camera is seeing.

I've tried all of the Canon modes and played around with some of the ML modes to no avail.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you.

EDIT: I have marked the image to show you where the alignment issue is. The bottom red line shows the live view. The upper red line shows the overlay/ghost image. The area underneath the red lines should overlap perfectly. You shouldn't be able to see the overlay/ghost image because they are supposed to overlap.

FYI: This featured is used for stop motion animation.

Shutter angle question

I'm currently using Crop Mood build on EOS-M and it is really convenient to switch between modes. The only issue I have is that shutter speed is stays the same. Is there a way to make a shutter angle priority? If I change from 24fps mode to 57fps mode I don't have to go and manually change shutter speed?

EOS M1 or other cameras in the M line?

Update: It took a little while but it looks like there is a buggy version for the M2 but other than that, it's really only for the M1.

Will Magic Lantern only work on EOS M1 or will it work with the other cameras in the M line?

I'm kicking myself because I had one of these and sold it for a loss only now to realize how powerful of a tool it could still be.
