Hello all!
****Short version - what do you know about the Butterfly brand?***
I run a small business and make Clergy Stoles (the thing that pastors and priests often wear on their shoulders when preaching)
I have had decent success with my designs. I currently run a small PFAFF Creative sensation that has a modest 360mm max embroidery length. That's good enough for most people.
Stoles are, however, very long - about 1400mm or so, and not very wide. A few of my most requested designs are quite long (800mm+) which means I need to rehoop several times. Yuck. This, along with splitting designs when in the creation phase, is where problems arise if they are going to.
I want to invest in a serious embroidery machine. Most machines max out in the 500mm range. A few, like the Tajima SUMO, the Butterfly SUMO, the BAi Mirror, have 1200mm+ options.
I'm nervous about the BAi. Really no customer support other than online. I work on my own stuff but this is new territory. Plus, they have no machines in the USA with that size field, which means a LONG wait time. They are priced below $8K, which is crazy cheap. There are similar machines in the same range made in China which are probably the same machine with different branding.
The Tajima is a fantastic machine, but the price is more than I made last year in total revenue, to say nothing about the profit! I just can't handle the $25K - $30K price tag or I would jump on it.
Then there is the Butterfly. A major online retailer carries and supports it. it has a 1300mm field and a price tag just north of $13K. I'm curious if anyone here is familiar with the brand and if they have proven to be reliable. I'm nervous about the jump - I paid about the same amount for my last car...
Thanks for any insight!
I have an opportunity to buy a second hand Janome MB4 for $3,500 (Australia). I'm currently using my mum's Janome 550e and embroidering jumpers and bags but I'd really love to be able to move away from being restricted by the flat bed, but I love the big hoop. What should I ask the seller about the machine?? I'm very new to embroidery, but looking to make a business/side hustle out of it Thanks!
Can I make 5 inch design lets say 7 Will it affect the design quality ASAP
Hey I’ve never embroidered before and I just wanted an opinion, I wanted to start a small Instagram business kinda like animatoshop.clothing on Instagram and I was wondering what’s the best embroidery machine to create custom pieces like that and what do I need, I can’t find any of that certain info online so that’s why I’m asking here my budget is around 1000$ for the machine, any info is helpful thank you!
So we use the tajima dg16 by pulse program but for small wording (smaller than 9mm) it comes out looking messy on the tajima embroidery machines. It will look uneven, stringy and just overall terrible.
It’s not the machines as when the embroidery is set up from another source they can do the small wording fine.
Any ideas as to what can be done here?
Heya , I am using MySewNet and setting all of my thread colors to Janome codes, but when I go to transfer to the machine, I see that they are all changed to "embroidery" instead. Is there anyway to get the brother SE2000 to respect the thread #s specified in the file?
I'm looking at getting my first used multi-needle machine, and I was wondering if anybody has any advice on the following model:
Tajima TEJT II-C1501 (2008)
Are replacement parts easy to find?
Is 2008 too old?
Where can I find manuals and instructional videos other than YouTube?
What is a good price for this machine in used condition?
Is this model suitable for embroidering floor mats?
Any other advice and insights are welcome!
Hi All! I've been researching various embroidery machines and feel like I am spinning in circles. If anyone could help direct me I'd be really appreciative. I own two retail businesses that recently relocated together into one large 6,000 space. One is a children's shop that does mid-range to high-end kids apparel and toys and the other is a men's and women's shop that does apparel, gifts and so on. We already have a custom felt banner program and I want to add embroidery.
I want to offer customization ranging from monograms to logos and slogans for customers, as well as have the ability to produce some short runs of iron on patches, hats and apparel ourselves. I'd love to find a machine that can do chenille as well as flat embroidery. My customer base is also really into the retro chain stitch look but from what I understand that is more of a digitized software situation than a machine that mimics a legit hand done chain stitch font. Which would be fine.
I don't have any interest in doing big runs of things for sports teams or businesses so I don't need a multi-head machine.
I was planning on spending in the 6k-8k range. If anyone has advice I'd welcome it!
I apologize but I have another software question. I have a strict $200 budget. I embroider for fun but I want to be able to add letters etc and to also delete from designs. I hate inkstitch even though it’s free but I’m really good with Cricut design space. What’s left? I’m currently thinking about embrilliance enthusiast. I’m going to try embird also. I have the Hatch trial right now and the $600 version is the one that does what I’m needing. I just didn’t know if there was something else out there that would work
I suck at drawing and blocking out with a mouse and keyboard. Is there an embroidery software like Hatch by Wilcom that is iPad friendly? Like a drawing program kind of? I make all my patterns in Procreate on my iPad Air and then move the .PNGs to Hatch to turn into .PES files.
Hi all, I have a doubt about purchasing a Brother Inno-is V3 with 22million stitches, services 70k stitches ago. Here is the video an audio of it working. https://imgur.com/gallery/SZ3PIVq The price for it is 1900euros. Have in mind that in my country everything is a little expensier then in Western Europe or US. What do you think is it worth it? Thanks for answerin
I drew this baby Mothman and his edges are lookin' a bit rough after digitizing. Specifics are in the photo, but basically I just want the tips of the antennae/feathers and wings to not be so messy. Also, theres a bit of red peaking out of one of the antennae/feather edges? How can I fix this to make it look nicer?
Also, is there a way to add an outline of the whole artwork? I am turning this into a patch and it would help.
4x4 inch patch design
Hatch Embroidery 3 software by Wilcom
Will be used on a Brother SE 625 Machine with felt frabic, tear-away backing, and polyester thread.
I used tatami #30 (I like the static-y look, gives it a spooky feel) stitches for the solid black background color, and satin for the rest. The eyes are raised satin and the gray lines are satin lines.
Thoughts ? I see ricoma and tajima are a little cheaper.
I am looking to get my foot in the door and begin machine embroidery. I saw so many recommendations and reviews about the Brother SE600, but to my surprise it is not available to purchase in the UK. Is there a UK equivalent that just has a different model name but is the same machine? Would appreciate if people could point in the right direction or recommend good alternatives. Thank you
I’m a total newbie to embroidery but a long time sewer. Should I buy the brother SE 600 or wait for another model to come up second hand? There’s also a Bernina Artista 170 I’m also thinking of but the brother machines seem to be the best from what I read. I needs some expert advice! Thanks 🙏
We are a small embroidery shop (2 4-head Happy machines) that has been using Wilcom ES 2006 since around 2009. The computer (running XP) just crapped out so we are going to take this opportunity to upgrade the computer and the software. We work with a partner company that does the actual digitizing, however, we aren’t opposed to learning that skill, and starting to do some of that in-house, if this new software allows. Our primary use of our old software was just opening the files that we would get back from our digitizer, resizing or simple edits, and then saving to a flash drive as DST, which was then used on the machine. I’ve been looking at Wilcom embroidery studio, editing, and decorating versions as well as hatch embroidery digitizing software. Just looking for any thoughts, feedback or recommendations. Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone!
Just got a Janome 550E.
It will sometimes say "not enough bobbin thread to finish the piece" and I can't do anything else but to put another bobbin.
How do you guys handle these 10%-20% filled bobbins? I'd like to know how to not waste all this thread.
Thanks in advance! Have a great day.
Looking to explore small business feasibility in custom embroidery.
Engineer by profession so machines are easy to understand. Though beginner can learn fairly well.
Can you recommend something to start with? Not too expensive machines.
Hey folks anyone using a redline mini?? Before the Chinese machine haters start I’m getting what I can afford and fit in my apartment.
I need a machine that can do hats. And that I can but might hoops for eventually. Anyone using one? I debated the elna 970 which cannot do hats but I can do almost everything else.
