I’m from New Hampshire and currently go to unh. Not really a big fan of the school and applied to msu bc I love to ski and just need a change of environment. My parents really want me to stay another semester but I feel like it would just be a waste of time here. I just accepted to msu and am wondering if it’s worth transferring. Thanks
Graduated from MSU with a BS a few years ago… now I’m considering returning for a studio arts degree! Art students, what’s your review of the program?
Hi! I’m (F20) Considering studying abroad at MSU for one year. I’m looking for a place that’s gonna be a culture shock to England haha! I’ve also always wanted to travel to Montana. I have a few questions that id really appreciate being answered :-)
Thank you!!!
I have a opportunity to attend MSU next spring period as an exchange student and Im now wondering is it worth it.
I study currently in Finland and I do enjoy nature, hiking and camping, but is exploring Bozeman area worth the cost?
The 5 month period would cost me about 6500$ more than staying in Finland. There is abundant possibilites for winter activities here too, but I have never been in USA.
I understand cost/worth is relative but I would like to hear your opinions on the matter and how has your experience in Bozeman been?
Edit: Thank you for all the answers so far! I also happen to live with my girlfriend and being apart for 5 months is one of the biggest conserns that I have and the reason Im pondering this exchange so much..
I'm thinking of doing business - marketing at msu I'm just not very sure if it's exactly the right fit for me however, out of all the schools I researched this one seems the most fitting I like the laid back vibe and the cold weather but I still have my doubts..
I’m looking into schools out West in the mountains and came across Montana State. The area looks beautiful, but I’ve seen some conflicting ratings for the school. How is its premed program? Does it offer good research opportunities?
Hey everyone, i just committed to the MSU tennis team for the spring, I just wanted to know if there's anything I should know about msu coz im from the other side of the world 😭 and also just how's the life there especially as a athlete
why does it smell like absolute dog breath outside north and miller?
does everyone get the achievement award or do they actually like me. I havent even gotten an admission decision because i didnt pay my fee
Looking at signing up for classes next semester. Anybody have recommendations for mechanical engineering professional electives that don't require all that much work? I'm tired and just wanna graduate
What’s the name of the song that gets played at 3rd downs for the football games. The one that goes bum bum bommm
out of state student here!! i've never seen the northern lights before and i heard they'd be visible tonight! does anyone know what time or the best place to see them?
thanks! 😊
On November 5th, Montana will vote not just for President, but for Congress, for state and local offices, and for ballot measures on important issues like abortion. Register and vote so you'll have a say in what kind of country America will be!
In Montana, you must register by October 7th if you wish to register in advance. You can register here: https://votemt.gov/voter-registration/
If you miss this deadline, you can also register at a late registration location in your county - contact your County Election Administrator (PDF) for locations. You can register late from October 9th-November 5th.
Note: This will register you to vote in Montana. If you're from another state and want to vote there, you should register to vote in your home state using your home address, and apply for an absentee ballot from your home state.
##Voting in person
Montana allows you to vote early through in-person absentee voting. You can go to your County Election Administrator, request an absentee ballot, and vote your ballot on the spot. In-person absentee voting will be available October 7th-November 4th. You can see if there are additional early voting locations for your county here.
If you prefer, you can vote at your polling place on November 5th. Find your polling place here.
When voting in person, be sure to bring an acceptable form of identification.
##Voting by mail
Any Montana voter may choose to vote by mail. Apply for an absentee ballot here. If you're from another Montana county and want to vote at your home address, this is the best way to do it.
Ballots must be received by November 5th, so mail your ballot back promptly. You can also return your ballot in person to your County Election Administrator.
If you mail your ballot, you can track it here.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Whatever happened to Paulies Hotdogs that used to be midtown on 8th Ave and main, then moved into the stadium view building?
My HS (Junior) son is attending a local college visit with a recruiter from MSU. We've from a Milwaukee suburb and have always lived in the city, but my son is anxious to me more outdoorsy and is looking at an Earth Sciences degree. Please give me the unadulterated truth about going to college at MSU, social life in Bozeman, things I should know.
Hi everybody, I wanted to ask for some advice about easy / low effort classes that I could take this upcoming spring semester.
I'm trying to graduate this spring semester, but I just realized that I'm short by 7 credits. I have all my required classes covered by 13 credits planned for the spring, and I need 7 general credits of any type to finish things out. I'm just worried since that's 20 credits, which will be a lot alongside my capstone. What are some low effort classes I could take to fill out the last 7 credits that I need?
Hey, I was just informed that Montana State University will be the location for my international exchange semester. I am fairly excited but also a bit worried, especially because of the winter months. The nature around Bozeman looks great and typically I love that kind of stuff. However, I am used to milder winters (rarely below 23 degrees) and thus a bit concerned. Is it as rough as people say? I have heard you at least get a decent bit of sun.
Also, if you don't mind me asking some other questions:
Thank you!
Never went to a game as a student and was looking to go with my kids this year.
Hello, I’m a senior in high school and recently got accepted into MSU. I’m planning on committing but wanted to get input on the CS program. I visited MSU in May and knew it was where I wanted to spend my time. I’ve always wanted to do CS as a major but I was also looking into minoring in Electrical Engineering. I have most of my general education credits done for college as I did a program called “running start”. Do you think this will be too overwhelming and how would you rate your experience as a CS major at MSU. Thank you and have a great day!
Navigating MSU websites can sometimes be frustrating. I've thrown together a list of userscripts and chrome extensions that can make it easier to deal with, with a few pictures included below.
My Info+: Userscript, Chrome Extension.
MSU Unlinked: Chrome Extension
Gradescope Login Redirect: Userscript
Redirect MyInfo: Userscript
Silence MyInfo: Userscript
MSU Stale Redirect: Userscript
Pictures:
Dead links grayed out by MSU Unlinked
These are easiest used on some sort of chrome-based browser (with the userscripts needing a manager like tampermonkey) but if you want to use them on iOS or MacOS Safari I would recommend the Userscripts app for userscripts, and Kagi's Orion Browser for chrome extensions.
I have walked past so many bikes that are only locked on the front wheel! That wheel can be easily removed by removing ONE bolt and your bike is gone. Same goes for only locking your frame, wheel gone. Please lock both your wheel and your frame to the bike rack.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone during the day will remove a wheel to steal a bike, but overnight storage with an improper lock is how you lose your bike/wheel.
If you want to be extra secure, lock front and back wheels.
PSA over lol
What is the student to teacher ratio for say general bio 1&2 , chem 1&2, OChem, physics, calc, ECT? Like 40?60? Over 100? We know someone at Penn State who had over 300 in there first chem class.
Also do TAs do most of the teaching?
Thanks!
I applied to MSU for Fall 2025. I realized today that both the WUE and Merit Scholarships have a 15 unit/semester requirement. I was prepared to take 12 units (barely a full-time student - haha) both Fall and Spring next year, then ramp it up as a 2nd Year.
If i get a scholarship and I need to enroll in 15 units for Fall 2025, what are the super-easy electives at MSU? I am hoping for a class I can attend, and then forget about once I leave (none or not much homework)... I saw another Reddit post mention Ceramics. Is that a good one? What about (other) classes that I can attend, then forget until the next class?
List 'em all here!
Howdy Y'all!
I'm putting together my plan to graduate, and as of now I am only missing 3 upper division credits. I'm in the Conservation Biology Program, and it does not matter what the class is as long as it's a 300 or higher. Any suggestions for classes that any of you enjoyed or thought were good? I just want to get out of here with my piece of paper. Thanks in advance!
Hello! Does anyone know anything about the San Francisco trip the juniors in the architecture program go on? I met someone that’s on it and would love to know more. Thanks!
Hi everyone. As the title states, I'm trying to get out there more, meet new people, and just generally be more involved in the community. I'm a senior at MSU, and although we have clubs here, I haven't had good luck reaching out to many so far-- they're either inactive or just meet on days that I can't do.
Anyone have any advice as to what I can do in this regard? FB groups, local clubs/meets, anything like that?
The things I'd be most interested in are outdoor recreation, pickleball, chess and/or other games, but I'm open to just about anything. Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know where some public microwaves are? I’m a commuter and I’m on campus from like 6am-4pm. I know there are ones in the SUB but with Chick Fil a it just gets so crowded near lunch time it’s hard to find a spot to sit or focus on any work. I’ve microwaved my food and then taken it to other places before but I also don’t love that :/. Is there a way I can request one to be put in the basement of the library or something?
