Skilled IT Generalist with some background in Systems Administration looking for stability

I have a lot of experience in various levels of IT support (help desk, administration, systems management, general management, and struggling to find work. Spent the last 12+ months looking and coming up empty handed.

Linked in profile can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/d3photographer/

Resume can be sent upon request.

Seems that my ownership of a photography company has been limiting the companies interested in talking to me as the few screener calls I've received recently have expressed concern of my programmer background and possibly seeking other employment - I will reiterate that I am seeking stable employment. Remote (WFH, not field) is great but not required.

Twin Cities general area is preferred for office-work.

Can start immediately.

Willing to work on compensation - as noted I am seeking stability not chasing a high(er) paycheck.

Experience with the following platforms:

  • Netgear
  • Netgate/pfSense Firewalls
  • Extreme Networks
  • Aruba Wireless (instant-on clusters)
  • Windows
  • macOS
  • MDM
  • Ubuntu servers
  • VPNs and routing (Wireguard, IPsec, OpenVPN)
  • Video Surveillance and door access systems (ExacqVision, Sony, AXIS, OnSSI, Lenel OnGuard, S2, and others)

I have been unemployed for a while and feel that my resume is being ignored because of my experience and not being taken seriously for the roles I'm applying for.

Thank you for your time.

Trans woman looking for a safe work place

Hi all! I’m a 22 year old trans woman entering the job hunt.

I’m experienced in welding, grinding, polishing, wood working , and working with my hands. I am looking for job opportunities involving those skills.

I would prefer a job somewhere that is queer owned or at least accepting to all applicants. I live in Saint Paul , looking for a small fabrication shop or manufacturing workplace.

If anyone has any ideas to help me on my search, I would greatly appreciate any insight offered!

Engineering Job Opportunities in MN

Hello All! My husband and I are originally from MN, moved to Seattle 3 years ago for work. Due to family situation, we are planning to move back to MN in June 2025 to take care of elder parent. I work fully remove, but my husband needs to find a new job.

My husband is cureently an equipment engineer/ lab manager for a big corporate company with Associate degree plus 10 years of experience in the field. While he is looking for jobs in MN, it seems like most engineering jobs requires at least a Bachelor's degree. He's been rejected for some positions due to not meeting educational requirements even though he has amazing 10+ years of work experience.

It's been stressful since we have the urgency to move back to MN for family reason, but we need to find a new job for him.

So, here I am, asking for advice about what we can do. And how is the general job market for Engineers in Twin Cities MN? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Transplant Looking for a New Career

Hello!

I moved to Minnesota from California mid June and I am having trouble finding employment. For those of you wondering why I would move without a plan, my husband and I moved for a career opportunity. All of my experience is in the education field as a former teacher. Outside teaching content, a lot of my experience revolved around data analysis, frequent communication with stakeholders, creating tiered intervention plans for students (they'd be failing and I would work with them to come up with a plan to bring up their grades in multiple classes), and onboarding students on an educational platform.

I've reached out to a few agencies (e.g. Robert Half and Ultimate Staffing), looked at city jobs, MN state careers, U of M, a few public school districts (e.g. Minneapolis, Hopkins, Eden Prairie, etc.) Linked-In, and Indeed. I've gotten a few bites and went on a couple of interviews but they haven't progressed past that.

I would like to take a career shift outside of education and when applying to school districts, my main focus was working in the district office level as a coordinator or a teacher trainer. Ideally I would like to go into project management, communications, marketing, or really anything that I can do to utilize what I've already learned.

I have linked my resume below to see if anyone could help me word it differently so I seem more employable. Please let me know if that's allowed.

Any help you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Out of State, looking for networking opportunities

Good morning!

My name is Anthony and I currently work in the IT field in Wilmington, Delaware. I was wondering if I would be able to find people in my field (or related fields) who would like to network. I have plans to visit the twin cities over Labor Day weekend and would eventually like to relocate there within 2-3 years. I just want to be somewhat established in the professional community before I make that jump. Go ahead and leave a comment on this post or reach out to me directly and we can get to talking!

Thanks so much!

Relocating from Atlanta to Minneapolis

My fiancé and I are relocating to Minneapolis this fall , hopefully before October. I’ve been looking for a job since the beginning of this month and I am actively applying. No call back yet unfortunately. My background is in Compliance and I have a Bachelor’s Legal studies. Before we move I want to have a solid job offer and start date. Any recommendations on where I should look for jobs. Indeed has a bunch of fake ads so I haven’t been on there much. I’ve just been looking at state, county and city jobs. All responses are definitely appreciated!

We’re also looking to move in the downtown area so I would prefer areas surrounding that.

I graduated from UMN with a masters degree. Couldn't secure a job in the US, so I had to leave the country. Does anyone here need a freelance remote employee? I can do anything that can be done remotely, administrative work or assistance, anything.

Thank you

Need help

I need help and don't know what to do. I have been searching for a new job for months. I've applied for over 100 jobs, and I've had about 5 interviews this month. I have never gotten past a first-round interview for any job that pays well in my life. I end up working basic jobs and move up when management sees that I'm actually really qualified and a generally good employee. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and now I'm stuck in a position that is sucking the life out of me.

I am currently Quality Control for a small tool manufacturer. I'm not going to say more, as I don't want to identify myself. I am in charge of the quality of everything that comes through the door: from nuts, bolts, and cardboard boxes to parts at every step of the manufacturing process. I love what I do, but I'm not growing professionally, and the culture is extremely toxic from the top down.

I have skills. I am extremely quick at learning new skills. I love computers. I taught myself SQL and built a database to track incoming parts and their approved or rejected status. I built a database to track non-conforming parts. Both of these were shelved and are not ever going to be used. I am driven, detail-oriented, but can also see how the details affect the big picture of the company. I can do great things if I could only get the chance to prove myself.

When interviewing, it all goes well. Then they ask about experience, and it all goes south. Because of the company I'm at, I can't grow and gain relevant skills to move anywhere because they won't pay for anything new or improved. We are stuck in the 90s. To try and gain skills, I have done some Coursera courses, but that doesn't do much in this market. I've gone to a Career Force, and they helped me rewrite my resume, which is how I've been getting interviews, but because of the lack of relevant skills, I never get a call back.

How can I change this? I'm looking for entry-level work even though I'm not entry-level. I need advice and help, and I don't know where to look or what to do, so I'm turning to Reddit because I'm just lost and hopeless at this point. Anyway, if you've made it this far in my rant, thank you, and I hope someone has some kind of advice. I don't know what to expect from this, but maybe someone somewhere can offer something to help.

Preschool teacher job opening

Hi all! Bright Prospects Cooperative Preschool in Minneapolis is hiring a second classroom teacher. It's a great co-op run, single classroom school with 15 kids each day (kids attend 2, 3, or 5 days a week, so there's more than 15 kids at the school but only 15 per day). There are also several families who are Covid-concious/high risk and take precautions such as masking, so for anyone who is also Covid-concious, this may be a good fit for you! Details can be found at the link below.

Where do most of you find service industry jobs?

I've been looking for a job at another restaurant for a few weeks now and it seems like the only places hiring for FOH are corporate hotels looking for bartenders with 3+ yrs. Currently just want another bar back/food runner position if possible.

Look for someone to run a fireworks tent in Northfield

Looking for someone to run a fireworks tent from June 20th through July 4th. The tent is located in the Cub Foods parking lot in Northfield. Sales person needs to be available for the entire duration. No exceptions. You must also have a phone with access to cellular internet. Sales are made through square using your phone. The job requires the ability to get yourself to the tent location each day and have the tent open no later than 10am and closed no earlier 8pm. Fireworks are stored in a shipping container on site. You will be required to move a reasonable amount of fireworks out of the container each morning and make the tent presentable and then move them back and lock them up each evening. The work is not difficult but it does require lifting. Generally the Northfield location brings in around $3000 take home for the staff member each season. Compensation is based on total sales and thus subject to change. More sales means better pay. Looking for someone motivated and relieable. I will go into more detail if you are interested.

Part time gig ideas?

I'm starting a new job that is only on and working when the weather permits. In an effort to maximize income, I'm trying to find something to fill the void when the weather is bad. I'm not even really sure what kind of jobs to look for, so I'm wondering if anyone here might have suggestions. Whatever job it is, would need to be done on my own time whenever I can't work because of the weather. So flexibility and no particular required time is of essence. Ideally low or no startup costs associated. Also, reasonable pay would be nice too.

I've considered transcribing, crafting/woodworking, pet care, and other similar gig your jobs, but they are either very particular about skillset, or require more start-up costs than I'm comfortable with. What are some other gig type job suggestions? Any ideas would be helpful!

Thanks!
