I watched a video recently where they had an MLB pitcher on, and he was only allowed to throw like 6 pitches and they were pretty strict about it. (I think they asked for 9 total but got 6.)
How do pitch counts work? As in, is it a number you're given for a total week? Is a count per day? Or are you supposed to hit pitch count in a single game/session and then rest for X amount of days to reset?
How many pitches do pitchers typically throw in a game while in season?
What was wrong in that case ?
Title, also correct me if it's not even true at all
I'm new to baseball and i absolutely love it. But what do thoses stats mean? There are more of those, like "RBI" or "BB". The only one i understand is "HR". Thank you for making me understand the game and additional information better!
Why not 5/8 PM?
Let's say it is the bottom of the ninth inning. There are two outs and the bases are loaded. The away team leads the home team, 5-4.
The batter hits the ball, sending it to the right side of the field. The ball successfully reaches second base before the man on first gets there, causing the man on first to be put out (which would be the third out). However, the men on second and third both successfully reach home (which would be two runs).
Who wins the game, and why?
Don't they usually plan ahead if possible winners are near like NBA?
Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)
My dad, my uncle, and I are trying to find this out, but we can’t find this stat online.
There have been some blown saves recently and I keep reading/hearing that it’s because they are overused all year. What does it mean when a bullpen is “tired”? Don’t they have off days and relievers throw only 1-2 innings at most as compared to starters?
Just found this sub and love this idea!
I’m a self-proclaimed baseball nerd, so feel free to leave any questions here, I’ll do my best to answer what I can or at least give some opinion!
Hello everyone, I am a new baseball fan, I just started watching with the postseason this year. I am looking to find a team in MLB to support long term. The closest team to me is about a 6 hour drive (Braves) but I have a local team (Biloxi Shuckers) that is affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers.
How do people usually pick a team when they are not near any of the major league teams? Would the Brewers or Braves be a good choice? Any other suggestions?
I feel the entire playoff system needs to be reworked...I hate the shit out of the Brewers, but the fact that they won their division, or any divisional winning team - they get put in a best of 3 situation? You won the division, you should automatically get a best of 5....or best of 7, NBA style.
Am I the only one that feels this way?
I love NFLnoobs even though I'm not really a football noob, it just has great questions and sometimes I can help out.
This sub has 119 subscribers. How do we go about advertising?? How do we get it out there?
There has to be interest.
Hi so maybe this question is common and annoying so im sorry if it is. So i've been a casual baseball watcher for a few years since 19' ( i bet on Nationals to win despite not even knowing a thing lol, i made money)
Since then i've tried to watch the season but didnt keep up much, i usually tap in when playoffs happen.
I liked Arozarena in 2020 made want to become a rays fan lol but i didnt, tried to follow Mets and Astros, I liked Lindor and Alonso and Yordan Alvarez.
Mets sucked and I already follow loser ass teams like Giants and Spurs ( i know they had tons of success still annoying to watch 82 games of ass) and Rangers (i know they have gotten better)
I guess my point is - do i stick with Mets? do i go with Astros? Or is there a young player i could be fan of where the team doesnt suck and can make a push for the WS?
FWIW i dont know the longevity of Lindor and Co not sure if its worth riding that wagon
Hey there! Long time fan of baseball, Padres are my hometown team. I got a good grasp of the basics of the game, but I'm definitely a little confused by the terminology used to describe the playoffs. Can someone break down the playoffs format for someone who doesn't really watch sports that often? How many games are played in each match? What do the terms "Wild card" and "Clinched" mean? Finally, regardless of the odds or team loyalty, is it even possible for the Padres to win the world series this year? Thanks for your time!
I’m from Iowa and my family are not really baseball fans but my dad was a little but I’m starting to get into it and wondering what team to choose and I’m also Celtics and dolphins fan
I am still confused on how playoffs, the national league, the American League, and World Series works. I was looking at teams and saw teams “clinching” a playoff spot. Can someone help break this down to me?
I have never watched baseball before, but from what I see, it seems interesting and I want to watch more. I know baseball season is coming to an end. How do I figure out what to start with at this point in the season?
Hi everyone, We are visiting USA and will be in New York while there are a few games on. Which game should we attend and what exact game during the series should we preference to attend? I don’t quite understand the baseball series so is the first or last game usually the best?
Phillies v Mets 21 or 22 Sep Orioles v Yankees 24-26 Sep Pirates v Yankees 27-29 Sep
TIA
I’m am from the UK and pretty recently have gotten into watching MLB
I purchased discovery+ on Amazon prime video so I could watch the baseball games live on TNT sports
My question is, is there a reason I’m only able to see certain games live ?
For example I watched the L.A Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (Game 3) live last night but I’m unable to watch the game going on right now.
Is this a thing that happens with Live Baseball or is it a thing that happens with Live American Sports or is it just a Streaming service issue.
If it’s a Streaming service issue, what’s the best service to watch American Sports (specifically Baseball)
Watching the Orioles vs Yankees game and Rutschman is in the lineup as DH. Why would they out their starting catcher at DH? To rest him? I know he has high value as a hitter but I would think his catching abilities are valuable as well.
Title says it all. Why no knuckleballers, very few submariners and also oddly next to no screwballs and Eephus pitches. Seems like someone could find a weird niche besides Tyler Rogers.
