I'm moving back to VA after living in Las Vegas for the last 20+ years. My beloved 2002 Corolla has always been in the desert so she's in good shape for her age. She's only ever needed routine maintenance. Anyhoo, I'm looking for recommendations for a shop that won't try to upsell me on a bunch of extra crap and will respect my old lady. Right now she needs an oil change, fluids, and a state inspection so I can transfer my registration to VA.

Also, I'm looking to get my window tint redone. I don't believe it's too dark for VA, but it needs to be redone because it's also old.

So I was doing some research into the candidates for my ward, and looking at the candidates in the others and comparing notes and talking points. I consider myself an independent and like to be informed on as much sides of the political coin as I can be.

When I got to Misjuns to see his Councilman page, it's brand new? I know this shouldn't be the case as I check in on the Council pages fairly regularly. But on the Page Transparency tab, it says created 10/01. And I thought "odd??" So I went into Living in Lynchburg to see if I could find some old comments (I appreciate he's active in there, whether I agree with his activity or not) only to find nothing? I know he's posted there under his page, but all I can find is one comment on a post less than 24 hours old. (it's the one about can you keep a horse at your house.)

So, as a voter, I'm perturbed. He had been posting regarding various candidates, and about the state/future of Lynchburg. Was he hacked? Or did he scorch-earth and start over? That's a lot of past political statements (including one about changing Virginia to be a party-registration state) lost.

We recently moved to Lynchburg from a different state and hoping to find unbiased information about local candidates. Previous state would have voter guides with all the candidates information such as previous history, statements, relevant experience and education, etc.

Any chance there is something similar here or is it all self done via biased sites? Or even worse, straight party line voting because fuck informed decisions and all?

My folks have several posts/columns under their porch that are rotting at the base, so they're looking for a contractor to possibly replace the posts, and so far they haven't had much luck finding anyone who can do that kind of work. Did a bit of a Google search myself and I couldn't find anything definitive, so does anyone here have recommendations for contractors in the Lynchburg/Forest/Bedford area that work on that kind of thing? I will mention these columns/posts are the length of two stories and help support an overhanging roof as well.

How easy is getting a Uber/lyft in Lynchburg? Are there a lot of drivers?

I can see the storm getting worse into the night and wonder if we may lose power. I know the last time I lost power was for over 7hrs on a Friday earlier in the Summer.

Hello! So I just have a simple question for the residents of Lynchburg. So I go to LU and I vote here during elections. I don't think I am a citizen of the city because I don't pay taxes here, I pay them back home. I got a letter saying that I may be selected for Jury duty in 2025 but I wouldn't be here since I will graduate in May. Would I still be summoned for jury duty if I were not a resident but just a college student who votes in the city?

I do think it is concerning that Timmer has been in Ward I for only 2 years and is already making a run at city council. I admire Smith for significantly improving a dilapidated property.
