Lynchburg is an amazing community. There is nothing negative to say about it. Great food, great people, hardly any traffic. What more could you ask for?

My bf and I are staying in Lynchburg at the end of December for two days( we're from southeast va. ) We plan to hike mcafee knob ( I know it's a bit away) and head back to town and hit up breweries/ wineries. We're in our late 30s/ early 40s and looking for other fun suggestions.
Sorry for putting this here but CVCC doesn’t have an active Reddit. Dose anyone got to CVCC and is having a terrible time with the new rapid identity security. I can’t even open the login page because I guess it just won’t load. I have tried different browsers and every thing I can think of. Does anyone know what I should do to get in to my canvas?? Thanks in advance.
Hello all! My partner and I moved far away from family and are fairly new to the area.
We are looking to spend our holiday months volunteering for an organization that needs it, any suggestions?
Thank you for any help!
My sister (35) mother of 4 just moved to Lynchburg after living abroad for years. She doesn't want to make friends but I told her she has to 😅 her youngest is 2yo and she has an 9, 12, 14 yos.
She's kinda dorky, likes to crochet, likes to cook, she's does nails and other art type things. She loves coffee and used to run a cafe. She's sarcastic, goofy and funny. She's very laid back and a hot mess express.
Anyone other people in Lynchburg that need friends but don't want to make any??
Update: thank you all for the kind responses!!! I shared them with my sister and convinced her to make a reddit so she might be sliding into your DMs 😁 her handle: Hotmess_express89

Hello all I have an interview at BWXT on 4 December. I’m trying to see if anyone can private message me or reply to this post. Just looking for your honest opinion on quality of life while working there.
Hey all, I will be moving to Lynchburg soon (January) for work, and was wondering if there is anyone who plays Pokemon Go at all? And if anyone here does, how is the community up there? It's not the most important thing in the world, obviously, but it would be cool to maybe meetup on event days to do raids and whatnot.
This afternoon I was driving on 29 Bus north of the city, probably close to the Winesap Rd intersection. Road is 5 lanes wide there, 2 on each side plus a turn lane in the middle. A school bus came to a stop as I was passing it, it was in the far left lane traveling in the opposite direction 3 lanes over). I didn’t think I needed to stop, but the cars behind me did. So the question is, should I have stopped? If I was supposed to, what kind of trouble am I looking at and is there anything I should do to get out in front of it?
Anyone know where I can find thc infused drinks?? Not medical
Don’t think i’ll have any luck as i’ve never been able to find anything but does anyone know if there’s any adult hockey leagues for some in their 20’s? Doesn’t have to be in Lynchburg per se, willing to drive up to an hour or so if need be. Thanks!
Hello! Does anyone have a neurologist recommendation either within the Lynchburg area or within a 2 hour drive? I moved recently and need a neurologist to help with migraine treatment. Thank you!
Anyone want to burn one? Med patient here and new to the area, looking for friends. I like to medicate, walk/hike, listen to reggae, cook and more.
Hiya! My husband and I are planning a move to Lynchburg late next year.
We aren’t familiar with Lynchburg or Virginia in general. We’re kind of just blipping to a place that’s relatively close to family with good cost of living.
I’m really quite the extrovert and want to know what you guys think is great or suck really bad about Lynchburg.
For more info, we’re both young early 20’s. People of color. Healthcare and contract workers.
Thank you :3
I could sit here & tell you all the reasons why you should join our server (we're fun, we're silly, we've all made a lot of IRL friends, etc.), but just come see for yourself! This is a 21+ server, so no youngins (sorry, kiddos).
We know there are specific Discords for different cities, regions, etc. for VA, (we have several people in the server from Lynchburg!) but this is a state wide server designed to make actual friends from all over the state!
My girlfriend just left me and my daughter at the house, I don't have any money or a car and just want to get out of the house. Any suggestions in the boonsboro area
All the times I’ve been downtown today was the first time I noticed all the shoes over the skatepark.
How is the job market here , what’s the usual minimum wage they hire someone at ?
Where was this taken?
Thanks.
Anyone know what kind of drug testing is involved for an administrative position with Centra Health? Is it urine, blood, or swab test? Do they accept mmj card?
Maybe I'm just mentally thick (OK, there's no maybe about it), but I cannot figure out how to make my bills from the city (e.g. Personal Property, Water/Sewer/Stormwater) paperless.
The web site is, on the whole, pretty good - it's nice being able to log in, bang in a bill number, and have it pop up with the right amount, pay via ACH or card, and all that. No complaints, there.
However, if I can get these via email instead of snail mail (especially since letters often arrive a couple of days or even a week after they show up on informed delivery, which is kind of frustrating, but it is what it is, and I've never had anything go completely missing), that would be even more optimal. And, ya know, a few less trees killed and stuff for me to shred. Win-win!
Has anybody gotten paperless enabled (is there even an option)? And if so, could they point me in the right direction on how to do so?
Thanks in advance for any and all wisdom y'all may have.
Does anyone know any mixed(black/white) hair stylists in Lynchburg or surrounding areas? I’ve had bad experiences with white and black stylists. I feel like someone that’s mixed might actually know how to cut and style my hair.
I am interested in Facebook/Reddit/in person groups that discuss homesteading matters like gardening, canning, etc. I am primarily concerned with this region and best practices for the Lynchburg area.
I have in the past joined some Facebook groups (US Homesteading for Beginners- Off Grid, Canning, Gardening...) but I am concerned about the spread of misinformation. It is very important to me that moderators be concerned with scientifically proven, accurate information.
For example:
GMOs exist naturally in nature and also are used in labs
Amish use something called Hurdling which combines multiple (often less effective) food preservation methods to preserve food naturally
I am sure there are others
If anyone is a member of any groups that they have enjoyed being a part of that fits these criteria I would love to hear it.
I recently moved from Charlottesville and wanted to know if you had any recommendations for mechanics? Something more than just standard care like valvoline or quick oil change. Thankfully no car issues now but good to be prepared just in case. Thank you in advance for any advice.
Hi everybody! I saw the other gentleman’s post about car detailing, and wanted to introduce myself and one of my companies. I am active in this sub, but usually keep my opinions to myself.
Shihtzu Scoop is my pet waste removal company. I come and clean up your dog poop, double bag it, place it into your trash can, and can sanitize/add a clean scent to your yard. And it’s pretty inexpensive too. Plus, next spring and summer, your lawn care company will love you.
I do this on weekdays, as I own a Wedding DJ/Photography/Photobooth company, and I’m busy most weekends.
I have an easy signup form, it is all automated, and your first clean up is free! And unlike the one competitor I have, I’m not looking to talk about politics with you! I’m just here to clean up dog crap!

I have a sloped yard that has an existing deck that is about 30 yards from my house. I cannot figure out if I am required to get a permit or not prior to making any repairs or modifications to the deck?
It seems like the Lynchburg code is saying that a permit is required for new decks that are attached to the house, but I don’t see anything about existing detached decks.
Anyone have any ideas?

This morning my new next door neighbor was having cable installed and the utility workers cut my fiber optic line. I called technical support, spoke with two different people who were very nice, and had a technician out to my house and the line fixed within three hours. I’m quite impressed by this level of customer service, as the Internet surface provider I had before (which will remain unnamed) was not very reactive to problems that we had.
This is just one person’s experience, but wanted to give them a shout out. YMMV
