Dropped Lx100 l; Stuck in Manual Focus and 3:2 [Lumix LX100 I]

Hi Everybody,

I just got a LX100 I a couple of days ago, and unfortunately I gave it to a friend and they dropped the camera. Currently, it's stuck in 3:2 and Manual Focus. I've tried switching it to IA mode( Aperture wheel on A and Shutter dial on A, Focus switch on AF) and the camera is still on MF. The Focus switches on the side don't seem to do anything, and the aspect ratio dial also seems to do nothing. From the looks of it, the aperture wheel still seems to change properly, and everything else seems to be fine, but I just can't figure out for the life of me how to get it out of MF and to change the aspect ratio. This is my first camera, so apologies if it seems like a nooby question. Does anyone have any advice on what else I can do, and if it would be worth it to take it to a camera repair shop? Thank you in advance.

Didn't tag with with a flair as none seemed appropriate.

Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6/3 with 1.4x teleconverter experiences

I'm thinking about getting the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 with the Sigma 1.4x teleconverter. I was thinking about getting the 150-600mm Contemporary on EF mount, but I have an S5iix and there's shutter lag with all adapted lenses using the MC-21 that I've used. Everyone seems to report the same. The other option is the 150-600 sport in the native mount but damn that thing looks heavy. So I'm thinking 100-400 with the 1.4x teleconverter. I'm seeing mixed reports searching around the web but honestly not finding much information at all so thought I'd post and see if anyone has any experiences with it they could share. Thank you!

Lumix crazy menu

I bought a Lumix S5 IIX after years of owning red, arri and blackmagic cameras, this is my business - I rent out equipment.

Why does the Lumix S5 IIX, a camera with movie camera capability, have such a confusing menu? It is not convenient, not memorable, not predictable and not at all user friendly for filming purposes.

Why not copy the Blackmagic Pocket menu? It's close to perfect. Has Panasonic not seen or used it yet?

Why the hell would you even make a complicated and inconvenient menu in 2024?

Is the new S5II/S5IIx Firmware stable?

Has anyone had any issues with the new firmware as far as glitches/bugs are concerned? Was keen to update both of mine soon but it seemed like this new update packed a lot into it and I was fearful of potential issues

The Best Deals For an S5iiX

Hey All,

I've read a few comments on this sub regarding good deals for the S5ii and S5iiX lately but from what I see, prices seem to have stayed the same for the past few weeks. So my question is, where are folks seeing these "deals"? 🙂

S1 and S1H owners, I need your help.

Hello everyone. I am a filmmaker who uses the S5iix and I am in search of buying a bcam. I want something that can use my L mount lenses, and can be bought for no more than $1500. I have seen some used S1h and S1 go for that (usually S1 is much cheaper) but wanted to see if the community could help sway me. This would be for client work, where I would have two cameras setup for interview style. With a solo camera, I just use my s5iix but if I got the s1h I may use it for short films because of the olpf.

Anyways, there are a few questions I have that I am hoping someone can answer.

  1. Compared to the s5iix, do you find the S1 and S1h to be better, the same, or worse when it comes to image quality?

  2. With the S1, have you ever had overheating issues? It has that 15 minute timer when shooting 6k, and I worry about it failing on me during a long shoot.

  3. Follow up to question 2, does the S1 with blackmagic raw external recording HELP with recording times since its recording externally?

  4. Between the S1 and S1h, is it worth paying let's say $300-$400 MORE for the S1h over the S1 for the features it has? and why/why not?

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this and help me out. I think one of these will be a great b cam until Lumix finally decides to release a higher end S1ii or S1Hii.

Help with S5IIx video settings for low light - New Lumix user

Hi there. New S5IIx user here. Got a good deal on a used but minty S5IIx and coupled it with a 14-28 Lumix lens. I also updated to the new 2.0 firmware and watched a couple of YouTube videos regarding "best settings"

I went out yesterday night (3-4am) for the first time trying to see how this camera does in extreme low light. I wasn't disappointed at all given that the footage you see is all handheld. However it seems to lose focus for no reason at all at some points. Is there a specific camera setting in order to proper maintain autofocus when filming this type of video? (walking with no people in the shots for example)

All footage is straight out of camera since this was a test:

A6700 vs Fuji X-S20 vs Lumix S5ii for SOOC "film" pictures and cinematic video and not too expensive

i want to use the camera for pictures SOOC if it can do like film recipes in the fujifilm, i don't edit my pictures in post because it takes too long, and cinematic video that look like film

are these camera overkill for my use? i always had cameras since i was a kid but only cheap $100 ones

my current camera fuji XT20 doesn't have Flog recording and handheld video is unusable even standing still

i just discovered the S5ii and how good it is for handheld video, but is the system more expensive than sony and fuji? i can' afford many lenses i buy lenses at 200 or 300 bucks

can the lumix do film recipes like fuji and ricoh?

If you are familiar with fujifilm they have a weird ibis implementation that works okay for pictures but not ok video

Looking at the sony A6700 their AF is superior and the ibis+ steadyshoot looked better in video test, and they have gyro data to stabilize later But i don't like having to edit my pictures after and i like the film sims on fuji What should i buy?

Gimbal for G80 (DJI Ronin SC?)

Hi! I'm looking for a gimbal for my Panasonic G80 and I was thinking about preowned DJI Ronin SC, however as far as I understand it's not fully supported. Could someone let me know if I realy need to have my camera connected to the gimbal? I was previously using gimbal for my phone and stabilization worked perfectly even when not connected to the phone. I don't want any fancy futures like control over the camera from gimbal, timelapses etc. - just stabilization.

Need help finalizing Lumix S5M2

Hello! Planning to get the Lumix S5 Mark 2 mainly for photography and some occasional videography. Am I on right track?

I am usually into nature and every type of photography, definitely a hobbyist looking for some fun. Natural colors and good quality photos along with great low life performance with controlled ISO. Also considered Sony A7M4 but for the price I think S5M2 is better! 500$ gap here in my country. Any tips will be thankful.

Accidentally took some photos without remembering to put the memory card back into my G7. Does anyone know how to access, delete or move photos directly saved to the camera without memory card?

24-70 s pro user experiences?

Just out of curiosity here, from any one that actually HAS one or has owned one, how good is it really? Every time I see it come up on reddit posts or dp review or anything like that, people who own them say it's the best lens to ever grace their presence, so I'm legit wanting to know how good this lens is, or if people are just justifying paying an extra 1k over the sigma lens. I've owned the sigma version before, it's fine but as I have an og s5, video af was abysmal at best.

So what do owners say about it? Is it worth the price? Or would someone be better off with just getting a sigma 85 1.4, (I have the sigma 35 1.4, and panny 50 1.8, both great lenses in their own right)

14-140 replacement lens for GH5

I shoot a ton of wildlife, nature and some landscape, and I recently lost my 14-140 lens, which was my middle lens (I also have a 33 fixed lens and a 100-400 lens).

So, unless I find this lens sometime soon, I'm wondering should I just buy another of the exact same lens or is there something else I should be buying?

My telephoto lens is fantastic for taking photos of whales and birds and whatever at a distance, but it obviously sucks for anything close. Any advice is appreciated!

Panasonic Lumix GF2 focus peaking firmware hack?

If this isn't the right place to ask this then please let me know and I'll take it down without issue.

I've had my Panasonic GF2 for a while now and have really enjoyed using as an EDC stills camera, I use it paired with a 1st gen LVF and the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 and have gotten great results with it.

I wanted to use some vintage glass with the GF2 but noticed there isn't any focus peaking to help with manual focus. I know of some custom firmwares to improve the video recording but would anyone here know of any possible custom stills firmware or hacks that can add focus peaking functionality into the camera?

Thanks in advance :D

GH4 or GH5 for video only?

I want to record video only, and the GH4 is in the perfect price range. But is the GH4 outdated and I should get the GH5? Or does the GH5 does everything the GH4 does?

S5 II Remote Shooting

So I wanted to give a try to lumix app and shoot self portrait. Paired camera and the my iphone, set camera on tripod. Lens was 85mm f1.8. Use to do it with my older cameras like gx80 and em5 mk2 without problem(oly 45mm f1.8). To my disappointment connection range in remote shooting on S5 II is absolutely rubbish. Literally just bit over 2m connection lost. Am I the only one who experienced such a low range?

What's a good price for a GH5 w/ Canon 50mm f1.8 & LUMIX 25mm f1.7?

Looking to buy my first GH5, guy is asking for $850 for GH5s w/ Canon 50mm f1.8 & LUMIX 25mm f1.7? Would those all be compatible and would this be a good deal? Thanks!!

EDIT: I want to film outdoor vlog like videos. What would be a good wide angle lens to capture myself with fish eye feeling, and what would be a good mic to use? Maybe some sort of shotgun mic, what type?
