So, a colleague has a Lumia 1520 and has had zero problems with it……until now. The camera utility is in a never-ending spin of “Saving” and has been for several days now. I promised I'd try to find a solution for them.

So I just managed to bring my yellow Lumia 1020 back from the dead (assumed bricked for years) and it's currently charging.

I wonder how it stands up to my S10 5G's camera...

I missed this 1020 quite a lot... still got the wireless charging case and camera case all in excellent condition. Maybe I'll keep it as a collector's item!

Tried Windows 10. Everything was cool but Everything is slow and battery sucking as well. Thinking of flashing back previous ffu windows 10 mobile. What else I can play around with this baby?

I realize it is a dead phone but I bought it for $10 and want to get my money's worth! I took a video, and I have videos set to upload in the settings. Photos are showing up in OneDrive, but the video is not uploading to the Cloud. I also can't figure out how to get it to sync with my Macbook or Ubuntu desktop. Thanks.

Edit: the phone connects to the macbook with an MTP app, but there are no videos in the "videos" folder. Curious.

Edit 2: The videos are in the Pictures folder. But they are still not uploading to the Onedrive/Cloud.

Edit 3: The videos won't transfer from my phone to the Onedrive cloud, but they will sync with my Macbook using the Onedrive app.

Signs of the upcoming death have started to appear, and as the phone was repaired several times, I have no intention to repair it again. But at the same time, I love the simple and clean UI and all the megapixels are heavily used as a field microscope. No modern phone is appealing to me, but I'll have to buy a new one soon, anyway.

Hey, I just bought Proshot to use with my Lumia Icon. I was excited to shoot video with it in 4k, but the option seems to be grayed out in Proshot, despite it being acceptable in the default camera. I thought Proshot supported 4k video? Is this a glitch? I already emailed the developer but apparently it takes a bit for him to get back and I need this to work this weekend. Can anyone help me?

Hi All, As mentioned in another post I am back to using my 520 for a while. I am on a non-data package and wondering if I should try and update the win8.1 on it. It currently shows

8.10.12393.890

as the OS version. I can connect via wifi for data but wondering if that is a good idea or better to let sleeping dogs lay.

What us the latest win-version for this phone?

Hi, my other phone is out of service for a week+ so have had to go back to my 520 - which I like much better than Android, (oops, I rave) anyway, it has a TMo SIM but I do not know the phone number, but it is still active but needs topping up it says.

So far so good, how do I find the phone number in this win8.1 Nokia? The SIM in the other phone is Pico size and no tray available for it to use in the 520.

p.s. Settings - Applications- Phone, does not show "My phone number"

I think there's something wrong with my Nokia Lumia 550, at random times the battery life will drop from something like 60% all the way down to 4%. It's always 4%! This is annoying, what can I do to fix this?

Hey all. I love the 1520 and have had it for about 1.5 years, but I don't have high hopes for my continued use of it. (snapchat, KiK was discontinued, FB interface is awful.) Does anyone have any suggestions for running Android on a windows phone? Emulators, jailbreaking, I'll do anything. I'd really rather not keep buying new phones, being as broke as I am. :/

I use a Lumia 950 (running OS 10.0.15254.124) and the other day I started having the following 2 problems out of nowhere.

(1) When I make a phone call with the headphone jack plugged in, the phone will drop the call. Sometimes this will happen while it is dialing, sometimes two minutes into the conversation. Sometimes, for some reason, it will hang up on whomever I am speaking to and turn on Cortana.

(2) while listening to podcasts through the headphones, the podcasts will pause. I then have to manually hit play to start it up, BUT sometimes it un-pauses on its own a few seconds later. This is chronic and is basically making the use of headphones impossible.

I thought that maybe it was the specific headphone, but I have tried multiple brands and the same problem happens with all of them. Maybe I've been searching for the answer incorrectly, but I can't seem to find anyone with this problem. My brother uses the same phone and has no such issues. Thanks!

Verizon Lumia icon. Rotation is locked even though I have it unlocked in Settings. Locking the rotation does not unlock it either. I had sort of given up on this problem as the only solution seems to be resetting he whole. Any thoughts?

I wanted to try astrophotography with my Lumia 1020 (which I now use as my regular camera). I heard that Microsoft limited exposure time to 4s max some time ago, but that it used to be more. Anyone knows which version of Lumia (Cyan, Black??) could have this longer exposure parameter, If I ever manage to find a recovery of this verison?

I have strong suspicion that SD card I use causes a lot of glitches on my Lumia... Can anyone recommend me a large capacity card that gave them zero problems?

My 830 using bose over the ear headphones is very very low, as for volume... does not sound that great either.

Is it possible to replace the AT&T branded firmware on an unlocked Lumia 1020 with "vanilla" unbranded Nokia firmware?

I'm wondering if I should leave it running 8.1, or upgrade it to 10? This is an older phone, so finding recent info has been difficult.

I primarily want to use it as a camera. I'm still using a Canon Digital Rebel, so don't mind older technology. I will have a data sim in it, and might even use it as my main phone for a while.

• Are people who upgraded to Windows 10 having any major issues?

• I've read some people state the battery drains twice as fast, but they are old comments and reference using a preview build.

• I've read the Lumia Pro Camera app is included in Windows 10 Mobile, but only for the 1020. Are there any apps or functionality that will be lost by upgrading from 8.1?

• Is 8.1 still usable as a daily driver? Are there still functional apps available?

• I've seen there is a way to install Android APKs on Windows 10. What kind of apps are supported? Has anyone tried Pokémon Go?

Update 1: Just realized I can't play Minecraft PE Winows 10 Edition. Might have to consider upgrading, but only if I can be sure the "Pro Camera" will absolutely work.

Update 2: Thanks to accidentally leaving a sim card adapter in the sim tray, I've broken most of the contact pins on the reader. I've ordered a second 1020 off ebay, and plan to swap out the logic boards so I don't have to worry about soldering a new sim tray/module onto the board. Because I will now have two 1020s, I'm going to upgrade to Windows Mobile 10, and see how it works.

I've been using my Galaxy Note 4 Edge since it came out and I have loved it. It's getting up there in years. It runs flawlessly on my custom rom, but there is an occasional problem here and there so I'm looking to moving on, also it's on my mom's network.

I've been looking at the Nokia Lumia 950 XL and it looks really cool. I am not sure how these phones are rated, so if anyone has one and would like to share the benefits and things you like about it I would be grateful. If you have other suggestions I would like to hear those, since Windows Phones are do not receive the attention they deserve. I am also looking into switching networks, so if by chance you have one you like, I would appreciate you sharing. Thank you

I was a passionate Windows Phone user from 2013 to 2015 ish, and for the latter 6 months or so used the Windows Insider app to get early Windows Mobile 10 builds. Sometime after I switched back to an Android phone in July 2015, my lovely Lumia was getting about 5-6 hours of battery life, but I kept it almost as a mini tablet. Earlier this week I'd done a bit of research into restoring Windows Mobile 8.1, which I've done. The interesting upside,(and the point of this post really) is that the battery now goes for approximately 2 & a half days on a charge. Now that's a tad better!

I have recently bough a Lumia 1520. The phone is with WIndows 10. Since today when I make a voicecall the other side doesnt hear me. In voice recorder the microphone is working perfectly. I didnt have any problems with it before that. Thank you!

I've been investigating about the app ecosystem and so far i'm not worried about not finding anything in Windows 10, so far i found all the apps i use in android or good alternatives for those not available officially. But my main concern is the OS itself, because from what i've heard, it's still a buggy mess and doesn't have good battery life. Is this true or not? Advice and opinions from Lumia 950 XL owners would be useful for me to finally decide to switch to Windows and leave Android behind (At least for now). My alternative for the 950 XL in case it doesn't convice me is the OnePlus 3T.
