Hi everybody. I'm a PhD student who works on improving sports safety gear to reduce impact injuries/pain in sports like bicycling.
You can help me by filling out a very short (1-2 minutes) survey here:

I appreciate your time in advance!
As title suggests, is anyone going to the big dam bridge 100? If so, which route are you planning on taking and how are you prepping for hills while in Louisiana?
Let's do this.
I'm looking to buy a road bike for exercise and just riding. I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for brand/model and also a place to buy it. I live west of Natchitoches and I drive to New Orleans once a month, so any shops in Shreveport, Baton Rouge, or New Orleans can work. Budget is around $400-600. I appreciate any help!
Has anyone ridden highway 82 from Lafayette to Lake Charles? How is it traffic, animal, safety, and road wise?
I know this sub is pretty dead, but the 6 of you on here should check out the collegiate cycling club at UL. We're pretty awesome.
Anyone plan on going?
My wife and I went to Bike Zone in Covington today and purchased new bikes. Neither of us have ridden in 15 years or more, but we need to work on being healthy and I cant think of anything more enjoyable than being on two wheels. The guys at the shop were very helpful and let us test ride 5+ models each, making adjustments and checking tires before each ride. An hour later we had both made our decisions!
I grabbed a Trek 7.2 FX and she bought an Electra Townie 7d Ladies.
They are being assembled for us now and we will pick them up Monday, I cant wait!! I think our first ride might be on the St. Tammany Trace for a few miles. Any road/trail recommendations for the Slidell or Picayune,MS area?
Glad I found this sub, THANKS!
Hello all, I'm looking for people who ride road bikes competitively to help me get a team started for the University. If you have a geared road bike, doesn't matter if it's old or new, and you want to race in the SCCC for next years season in the spring, please contact me.
I have a shop, BG Bicycles, who agreed to sponsor the team if it is created. We also have local shops like Acadiana Bicycle Company who have shown interest in supporting a local team. All we would need is university support and financial backing in order to fund trips, uniforms, lodging, and travel.
So please, if anyone at all are interested, contact me so we can get things started.
Anyone ridden around Lake Pontchartrain? I think its about 150 miles or so. Seems like this would be a great trip.
I personally like riding the MRT out of New Orleans, rode from Ville Platte to Turkey Creek on LA165?
Hey, I'm from Thibodaux and I was wondering if there was anyone from my area sunscribed to this subreddit. If you are, come ride with the Nicholls State Cycling team. Hell, even if you aren't come hit us up! We have a facebook page and everything.
This thing looks crazy fun, and is in August (date to later be announced). I'd like to get a team together of Reddit users because I don't think my friends will want to go. Anyone wanna join? I'd love to bounce around some ideas for costumes and team names.
So far all the have is their facebook page.
