Moving to Los Osos. Hard to see the stars with Ralph's bright lights. Where to go?
TLDR: do you need anyone's permission to leave your kayak by the other kayaks like on an ongoing basis like a marina?
Hi everyone, longtime resident, new kayaker. I am wondering, do you have to ask someone for permission to park your kayak at the "marina" of our fine city? I have purchased a yacht club t-shirt and am a regular at the finest establishments Baywood has to offer. I think it's time to take a leap and commit. To a kayak.
What are your thoughts, Los Ososians?
Finally ate there with visiting relatives. It's nice to have a restaurant in town.
I just want to hear what peoples personal favorite places to eat in los osos
Edit: Guy in military truck yesterday. Haven't heard where he got said truck, but so far I just see the problem starting when he refused to pull over when approached by law enforcement. If he owned the vehicle or acquired it legally what does he have to hide from the sheriff? Refusing to cooperate while operating a huge vehicle that could be operated like a weapon, easy to interpret actions as threatening, and a recipe for problems.
Edit2: stolen, deserved the pepper spray, f this guy
Just looking for someone to smoke and chill with
If I understand it correctly. County Board of Supervisors voted yes on a plan to build 60 homes a year in Los Osos. The next step is it goes to the Coastal Commission. if they vote yes then 60 homes a year will be built in Los Osos for the next 20 years. Maybe they offer guidance. There are already homes being built in Los Osos so, maybe that's more like 60 plus homes a year in reality.
I have a lot of knee jerk emotions, but, the worst case scenario is they build a monstrosity like the Ranch SLO here. a depressing prison like compound of cheap townhouses. The other worst case is they just build mcMansions. The reality will probably be a patchwork. I grew up here and I already think there are too many people, too many cars, too much noise. SLO seems to already be Bakersfield 2.0.
You made my day. RIP Garden Street.
Can someone go to this and tell us what is said? I'm really curious but I don't want to go.
We were talking about her and all the other weirdos that work/haunt Ralph’s. Also someone said that Ralph’s is built on an old Indian burial ground. I’ve been hearing this rumor for years.
I know what happened to flat top guy. He moved away. Or did he? Maybe he’s forever trapped there as well.
I worked at Rantec in 1992. I remember when their tall LN2 tank got installed out near the parking lot. Anyway, have you ever noticed that Rantec (1173 Los Olivos Ave.) is always hiring? What does that mean exactly? Perhaps it could be various contracts that they get. Or, maybe, it's no fun to work there?
EDIT: I guess this is a weird post. There’s no drama with Rantec. And, even if there were - we’re talking about events that took place 32 years ago! When I worked for Rantec I lived in Morro Bay. Then, I decided to get my engineering degree at Cal Poly - and off I went.
Getting back to this post. I see other companies perpetually hiring.
In 2011 I got a job offer with Lockheed in Palmdale, CA. I turned it down. I just didn’t want to live there. I mentioned the job offer to a colleague and he asked me if that was the same job that Lockheed had been advertising for years and years. I just checked - it’s 2024 and the same job is still being advertised!
There’s another company close to where I currently live - Lam Research. It’s the same thing - they are always advertising for engineers. They work with high voltage plasma - and I’ve always jokingly thought to myself - what in the world are they doing to those engineers? Zapping them? Hey HR! We need more engineers! Put an ad up now!
Anyway, over the years I see ads for jobs at Rantec pop up on the Indeed site - and I thought it could be due to a lot of turnover.
Really specific question, but has anyone been to both Steve's recycling Sat 9-10 am in the grocery outlet parking lot and also the recycling center near Spencer's market in Morro Bay? Do they pay the same rates or is one better, and if so which one?
does anyone know of the man who used to sell bonsai's out of his truck-- I would see him parked in MB on the side of the road a couple years back. My bf is obsessed with bonsais and we would love to see this guy and what he's got and i'm sure my bf would love to talk to this man. if anyone knows where to find him or any other bonsai connects please drop the info below!
I just need our rental cleaned as a move out last step. I know no one reads this sub but I like to pretend
they raised their prices by $2 a roll !
next to the community center. I'm not that mad I just want this sub to blow up with controversy! I mean I am a little mad. Trees are our friends.
Which was one guy on 10th. Also this sub needs more action.

Hello all, I moved to North County just about a few years ago and I’m ready to move to a new city in the county (the heat has been brutal for my tolerance), and Los Osos is one of the cities I’m strongly, considering as I love the vibe of the town.
I know that living in a house by the ocean has its own challenges, I would like to hear more from locals about how much the costs of utilities are in the area. I have heard some discussion about issues with the water, but I don’t know much about it or what costs are associated with it. Would anyone be willing to share this and also what it’s like to live in the town? Thanks!
