wireless connectivity between looper and PA - anyone do it?

currently looking to create a more flexible live environment with less cables for live soundbaths/ambient soundscapes.

has anyone played around with having wireless stereo connection between their looper/mixer and PA? Also wondering if a UHF or bluetooth solution is better ... and wondering how much you have to spend to get a good, reliable low noise signal.

I'm thinking RCA L/R plugs might be the most flexible option as the receiver output plug, something like this - https://www.amazon.com.au/YMOO-RT5066-Bluetooth-Transmitter/dp/B0B64V521N

interested in people's experiences and recommendations, thanks!

also looking into mono wireless setups between instrument and mic inputs (both phantom powered and instrument level signals) and the looper - any suggestions also welcome!

Boss rc10r questions

I've got some issues setting up my looper to stop rhythm and loop on the same button. I've currently got an fs6 running into it and some of the settings read like greek to me. Cannot find instructions anywhere on how to do exactly this. Can anyone help?

Hybrid Set-up With RC 505 (Incorporating Logic Pro?)

Hey ya'll, I've been performing with the RC 505 MKII since the summer, maybe 4x live. I'm starting to play around with syncing the RC 505 and Ableton for live performance because I'm wanting more tracks and to pre-prepare bass lines, percussions sections, etc. It's nice to have a lot more sections to be able to switch between during a track.

I'm starting to do this with sound baths to start, simply because it's more straightforward (ambient synths, flutes, crystal bowls, percussion, etc).

Question: Does anyone produce their tracks in Logic and then send them to Ableton for live performance as a part of your work flow? Any recommendations or things to watch out for? Garageband got rid of midi-export and i'm not sure whether to buy Logic Pro for this workflow. Was hoping I could test this work flow with Garageband before buying things.

Tbh, I really don't enjoy producing tracks in Ableton. I love it for live performance, but otherwise it feels like creating music in an excel spreadsheet which doesn't do it for me. But for live performance it's great.

Boss RC-505 mk2, audio quality and noise issues with TR vs TRS cables

I recently purchased a Boss RC-505 mk2 for looping with my keyboard. Prior to adding the looper, I had my keyboard outputting to my Scarlett audio interface via balanced TRS cables (keyboard has balanced L and R outputs). When I added the looper in the middle the sound began sounding, for lack of a better word, "hollow" or compressed.

I played around with all of the settings I could find to no avail. The RC-505 has unbalanced outputs, but I figured using my previous TRS cables would still work. I recently tried changing the cables going from the looper to the audio interface to TR cables ("Pig Hog Solutions" brand, if that's relevant) and it made a big difference: its much louder and "full" sounding now, but now I have a noise issue.

With the TR cables, I now have a high-pitched electrical buzz that's very apparent at any volume above a whisper.

Now that I'm using unbalanced cables, I fear I will be forever fighting a noise battle. What can I do about this? Are there higher quality, more shielded TR cables I should get? Do I need a noise filter of some kind? Are there any considerations I should take into account regarding power delivery to the devices?

Also, if anyone has any insight into why the TRS cables sound so bad, I would appreciate that too. My assumption was that they were compatible with unbalanced interfaces and that the extra contact points just wouldn't be used.

Question about ending loops? How do I get around the Playback before the reset?

I’m a solo artist and my set up is acoustic guitar and vocals and I’ve been looping for a few years now. It was time for an upgrade when my Amazon Ammoon looper started to crackle and the hardware was just falling apart.

So this weekend I got the Boss RC-5 and it’s just fantastic! Although the front screw came loose and the top opened up on me suddenly— is that normal? Anyway in the past I had been looping drum beats using my acoustic guitar, (just kick and snare), but this is going to make my life so much easier. I don’t care what people say not to use a drum machine!

The issue: I’m trying to figure out this issue of when I bring a song to an end. The entire loop stops right… but when I go to delete it the loop plays just for a split second before deleting. It’s SO ANNOYING to have the loop play over again and honestly it’s kinda jarring.

Is the solution to get a foot switch? Please help! Thank you in advance!

How do you go about recording/sharing your music?

I do live looping with acoustic instruments and vocals: building textures with complex layers on the spot from scratch. This is very impressive live and I tend to get a positive response. However, I'm not sure if it comes across as well via recordings, and I'm wondering how other loop artists go about recording and releasing their music.

Do y'all record your stuff in one take as though you were doing it live and then master from there? Or do you just do it like you would any other studio recording and record each individual part? Or something else?

So.... a thing like the UCreate-Music-Toy ?

Okay, I'm looking for something that won't break my bank...

and as I'm fairly new to this, the UCreat-Music-toy peaked my interest.

Is there something like this but usable with headphones and like sitting in the train?

Very sorry if I butcher the words for the correct parts here... but something of a lofi-all-in-one-wonder?

Boss RC-505MK2 Microphone

Hi everyone, first timer in the world of looping. I have my Looper set up with my microphone going into my looper - and then a line going from looper to my PA. What I can't figure out... is how do I get my microphone to be audible through the PA when I am talking between loop recordings. Would I have to connect via the headphone output from Looper to PA?

Your help would be appreciated. Thanks

Help me find a looper pedal

I'm looking for a looper pedal for electric guitar with these features:

- at least two footswitches for easier operation

- support for many different time signatures (3/4, 5/4, 7/4 etc.)

- quantization

- built-in metronome

- ability to set metronome and playback volume separately

- ability to save loops

- undo/redo feature

Optionally:

- the ability to export loops to a computer would be nice, but is not necessary

- an octaver would be great to mimic bass guitar, but I can do that with a separate pedal.

I can't seem to find a pedal which ticks all of those boxes.

I use the looper mainly as a composition, arrangement and practice tool, not for performance. I used Jamman Solo XD for years. It had almost all of those features, and it was great, but it's a single-footswitch pedal.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

RC-10R or RC-500?

Hello! I'm looking for a dedicated looper with drum beats that I can use to practice and sketch out songs.

I currently have a Zoom B1 Four and I love the workflow: you can select a drum beat, change the BPM, and then set the number of measures you want to record and then when you hit record you get a count-in. This means you only need to hit the pedal once then you can focus on playing the line you want to loop. And if you don't want to record anything you can just start/stop the drums independently.

I'm looking for a step up from this and saw the RC-10R and RC-500. Both have two tracks which I thought would be useful to practice a verse/chorus thing but I don't see anything in the manual for the RC-10R that indicates it's work like I've described (the RC-500 seem to have the features, REC COUNT and MEASURE).

I'd much prefer to have the RC-10R for the ability to import my own midi beats but it seems it doesn't work like I want it to. Can anyone confirm? Are there any alternatives? I don't mind having to use two pedals if they can communicate to enable that workflow with the count-in and a set number of measures.

Additionally, is there an easy way on the RC-500 to switch to the second loop (I think I saw a SERIES option) but also change the drum beat to really feel like it's moving to a chorus?

live mixing desk with multiple stereo effects loops

Anyone have a recommendation for a mixing desk for live use that has at least 2 stereo effect loops? I don't need loads of inputs (probably 6) and small size and durability is best. Ideally analogue.

Anyone use their acoustic guitar to loop beats? If so, what’s your pickup configuration?

Looking for opinions from anyone who’s gone down this rabbit hole.

I thump the heel of my right hand for a bass drum and tap the pick guard area for a snare. I want to route the 3 signals to 3 mixer channels to EQ independently.

So far I’m thinking the K&K Pure Mini for the main pickup, and another Pure Mini, mounting one sensor under where I hit the bass and another for the snare (I’ll have one left over for a spare).

The wiring will use a 4-pin XLR, no issues there.

Anyone ever tried this config? Conceptually, I think it’ll work fine, but I am still concerned the the 2 drum channels will pick up too much of the main pickups. I think noise gates on the drum pickups will help to an extent.

Update: I’ve successfully installed 2 Schatten EP-1 piezo utility pickups for kick and snare, and with the help of noise gates, the signals are sufficiently isolated from each other and don’t pick up the vibrations of the strings (yay). Just for fun, I’ve routed the kick signal through an octave pedal and it sounds awesome. I’ve also transplanted the snare wires from my cahon to the guitar for that real snare sound. Final step will be the main K&K under the bridge.

Sheeran Looper X EQ Reccos?

Hi all. I have Sheeran looper X and I’ve noticed that my EQs could be a lot better/are inconsistent. I was wondering if anyone had some good setups they could share?

For example: I use presets from Ed’s rack for all tracks, but feel as if the kick and slaps on my guitar could hit harder on the “Acoustic Slap Bright” preset, if that makes sense.

If anyone could share some tips/EQ presets, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks.

Roland handsonic stand

Anyone use the Roland handsonic with an off brand stand? I’d love their stand, but at $100+ I’d rather save some money and get something different. If so what do you use? Thanks!
