Is garbage day still on tomorrow?? ā„ļøšŸŒØļø

So garbage day is supposed to be tomorrow but no one on our street has their bins out. Is there some way to check if the collection is cancelled or postponed because of the snow storm? Feels like everyone knows something we don't šŸ˜

Runners of London, are there any trails/low traffic roads that are well maintained (salted) in the winter?

I'm training for a marathon in May and I'd like to avoid the treadmill as much as I can this year.

Why is the snow split

Hi,

Iā€™m new to the city and to Canada as a whole, and Iā€™m shocked by the difference between the amount of snow in the north and south ends of the city today. I live and work on Fanshawe, and had to wade through knee deep snow to get to work today, but when i picked up my wife from her job down the south end, there was almost nothing on the ground.

Is there some geographic reason that the weather differs so drastically, or is it just pure chance?

Marconi Blvd.

Does anyone live or have knowledge of Marconi Blvd? Iā€™m supposed to be moving into a house there and everyone says how ghetto it is. I just thought there were ghetto places all over London, it doesnā€™t matter where you go.

Custom Baking Recommendations

My partner and I have an anniversary coming up in January and Iā€™d like to order a custom dessert, i.e. something with a ā€œhappy anniversaryā€, some love-themed designs, our names, designs like that. Neither of us like cake (or cupcakes), and sugar cookies are not our favourites either. Does anywhere in London do this type of custom work with macarons, cheesecakes, ice cream cakes, scones, or other desserts that arenā€™t a traditional cake or cupcakes? Recommendations would be a godsend!

Looking for info on a lawyer

Looking for any info on a lawyer named Daniel Mcnamara, the contact info I have for him is out of service. Google isn't brining up anything of use.

He is the lawyer of a elderly man i know, he is unwell, this is his POA contact and in charge of his will.

Perhaps the lawyer is decreased? Any info will help thanks.

Temporarily in London looking for a mechanic (engine issue) in North West

Hi guys, I came to London to help out a family member who is in medical care atm. Took their toyota for a short ride over the weekend and noticed a loud noise coming from its engine. If you know a mechanic who is good in dealing with this kind of issues please share their contact information. Preference towards shops located in NW as I don't know how far this car can drive without breaking. Thanks in advance.

Hey karaoke fans of London. Need your help!

Hello fellow karaoke junkies of London. Vancity (Vancouver)mike here now moved to your amazing city.

I was here in the summer and attended a couple karaoke shows in St Mary's and London.

I was at a wicked karaoke bar which at first didn't show much potential but that's my own fault for showing up 45 minutes early by the end of the night it was wall to wall fun and only standing room.

Now the point of this post. I'm trying to remember the name and location of that bar and wondering if they have Monday karaoke

It was in downtown London. I think on Richmond Street. I do believe I had to go downstairs.

Does anyone know where I'm talking about and if they have karaoke on Mondays

XCountry skiing options?

Hoping to go cross country skiing later this week. It looks like Circle R ranch hasn't updated their website since last year so I doubt that will be an option. I know Pinery is in theory an option (and they did get more snow there then in London) but not sure how to tell if their trails will be open or not. Any other go to places even if not with officially sanctioned trails? TIA!

Agencies offering shelter to the animals of unhoused people over winter?

I can see an encampment from our street that has always had dogs. Unfortunately with this cold weather, the dogs have been left tied to a tree and I can see that one is limping (worried about their paws in this cold, wet snow). London cares did not know of any agencies that may be able to offer shelter to the dogs for their owners over the cold months, so Iā€™m reaching out here to see if anyone knows of any rescues or agencies that do this? My concerns are that either the owners wonā€™t seek shelter for themselves because of their animal and risk their own lives, or theyā€™ll seek shelter but be forced to leave their dogs here (which appears to be the case right now), and the dogs will suffer through the weather.

Any tips for agencies I can reach out to are welcome. TIA!

PS London cares and bylaw team have been contacted to hopefully offer support

Cherryhill Canada Post Return Parcels Policies

I'm seeing mixed information online about Canada Post's return policies right now. Some locations are reportedly still accepting all return parcels, while others aren't. Unfortunately, they donā€™t have a contact number, so Iā€™m unable to call and get a definitive answer. Has anyone had recent experience with this?

Restaurant recommendation for meeting

Hello. My manager wants to do my annual performance review at a restaurant. I figure all must be well or he is risking me crying in public šŸ¤Ŗ. Anyway, looking for somewhere with nice food and a quiet atmosphere. This will be on Thursday 12:30. Thanks!

Via train 82 (6:25 am to Toronto)

This morning's train 82 was cancelled due to 'operational constraints '. The cancellation was issued yesterday before the snow started, so it wasn't weather related.

Does anyone know if this is a frequent occurrence? I have several trips planned in the next few months and if that train is often cancelled then I will need to make other arrangements.

I broke down EVERY home that sold last month (November) in London, Ontario and made some graphs. Home Sales saw 0% difference. Detached Home Price sees 6% decrease, at $697k, Townhomes increase by 4% ($544k), Condos decrease by 4% (353k)

No Salt Downtown?

Had some errands to run downtown today and despite the heavy snowfall it doesn't seem like the city has bothered to salt, sand, or take any safety precautions at all regarding how insanely slippery it is. The only places downtown that seem to have any sign of salt are local businesses that would salt their own walkways - both the public sidewalks and the roads are an absolute mess.

Anyone know what's up? Like am I wrong in thinking the city is supposed to do... something about all to make itself safe in the winter?

Children's Emergency Department Hospital

How is the Children's Emergency Department Hospital in London? I could only find some information from 4 years ago! We have a one year old and just curious how good the ER is for babies!

Last time our little one was sick we waited for 5 hours in a waiting room (not in London) with a very fevered baby before finally asking a nurse to give her some medication to bring the fever down.

Salt shortage in London

Is there a table salt shortage? Went to Food Basics for table salt and it was the one thing they didn't have. Got talked into buying fine sea salt and of course it wasn't the same thing - useless for salt shaker. Any supply shortages?
