LibreWolf is a community version of Mozilla's Gecko based browser - Firefox, with increased protection against tracking and fingerprinting techniques, while also including a few security improvements.
LibreWolf is a free and open source web browser based on Firefox.
I am not affiliated with the LibreWolf project but decided to start the subreddit for it as it did not exist.

Hi after I today update browser all my pinned tabs, passwords, extensions get removed. Can i get it back somebody?
Hello, my profile got corrupted somehow. I backed up the old profile folder and am running on a clean profile rn. But I would really love to restore it somehow. Any tips on how I can attempt this? Is there a known bug or a cause, that might have caused the corrupted profile?
After the update, it prompts that it cannot be used when opened. Then I tried to modify it in the settings and specify the old profiles, but it also showed that it couldn't be used. I tried again to copy all the files to the new configuration folder, but my bookmarks and browsing history were all gone, and only the extensions remained. May I ask how I can find my browsing history and bookmarks?
I just downloaded an xpi file off the Firefox addon place, extracted it, changed a few color values and rezipped it to an xpi file. It has correct syntax, because when I load it temporarily, everything works as intended. The problem is that I don't really want to make an account, just for a personal firefox theme.
I also looked into the Firefox color extension, but it provides no feature to import a theme and all the color variables of the manifest.json are not really matching up with the names of the fields on color.firefox.com.
I saw that on the developer version of firefox there is a user pref, but I couldn't find a developer version of librewolf, so that's a no too.
Any help pls 🙏
I've been using LW a lot this past year, and want to make a small donation to the project.
I can't find a donation link on their site. Am I just being a dunce and can someone send me a link?
its like a font of the arabic script that some languages like urdu exclusively use, but it keeps rendering urdu wikipedia pages in the standard arabic script. and im confused as to why cus it would automatically load it in the correct font in firefox but it wont in librewolf. any idea how to fix it?
On windows, blocking video autoplay works well on twitter, but on fedora 40 it does not have any effect. is there some about:config setting or extension that can set this correctly?
I am sorry I have seen the comments and the FAQ , I am just not getting it.
Why is it a problem to create and Android version even if you can't all patch the same exact things because of the different codebranches but just like Mull you could create a branding and some basic configuration.
I have tried to compile librewolf myself with android mozconfigs but it just did not generate any apks.
So I want to ask if there is someone more knowledgeable of the codebase what's the blocking issue to compile an android apk from the LW codebase?
I've been using Librewolf since v128, and after a lot of tinkering I have to confess that there is one thing that's keeping me from ditching Firefox completely, which is the lack of captive portal support.
I get that there are privacy issues surrounding captive portal support. It's pretty easy to set your own up on the distal side (which I'll get around to writing up at some point; this comes first). However, if you're on the road a lot (I travel for work) you run into captive portals on networks a lot, and that's the one thing that Librewolf doesn't do right. I have to keep Firefox installed on my laptops for the specific purpose of hitting the network access pages because Librewolf doesn't support that.
While trying to find a solution to this problem I've tried a couple of things. I've set network.connectivity-service.enabled to true in about:config. Ditto network.captive-portal-service.enabled. I copied the value of captivedetect.canonicalURL from Firefox (plus, I tried setting my own up). So far none of this stuff has worked, and I'm about out of patience. I've periodically searched open tickets in the Librewolf repository but nothing useful has come out of it.
If there's a way to turn captive portal detection back on, what is it? And if it's something that has to be patched back into the canonical source repo, I'd be happy to open a ticket at Codeberg and kick the tires on it.
Help?
I'm trying to access Student Finance England (a government website to manage my student loans), and I am getting a security certificate error: Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue. Even when clicking advanced I can't find any way to "proceed anyway" as other browsers do.
This is 100% not an unsafe website, so I'm super confused why I'm unable to access it, I also don't like that I can't bypass the block.
Any way to get past this? Or do I have to use a different browser to access my student finances.
Hello
I'd like to enlarge the space between each bookmark in the list as shown in my screenshot :
https://i.postimg.cc/sgtFNvct/2024-11-27-020221.png
and that the icons for each bookmark be zoomed in a little like on waterfox, as in my screenshot taken on waterfox here :

Is there a way to do this via “about:config” or another way please?
I’m having trouble connecting to Google on LibreWolf when using the Mullvad VPN proxy, though it works fine on the Mullvad browser. This isn’t caused by extensions. Sometimes the issue flips: Reddit is inaccessible on the Mullvad browser but works on LibreWolf, yet LibreWolf never connects to Google while channeled through the VPN proxy. It should go without saying that YouTube doesn’t work either.
Am I misconfiguring something? Is using both a proxy and VPN in the browser excessive? The Mullvad browser is more reliable, but I prefer LibreWolf for its extensions. Constantly switching between them defeats my goal of browser isolation.
Sticky Password extension is not working. Anyone would help me?
Other FF browsers support but not LW.
Hi, I filter Google search results via Greasemonkey script "Google hit hider". Script injects block button near the search result.
Button is absent in Startpage and in Google button is there but is not functional. Is there some setting in LW that I have to enable or disable to get this script working, it's essential for me with the policies that Google pushes.
THX in advance.
Hey all, so I recently switched from Firefox over to Librewolf and was curious if I'm able to create various profiles. In Firefox I was able to create a separate browsers for school/personal/work such that they were unlinked to each other and each had their own desktop shortcut too. Is there any way to do that here on Librewolf too? I know containers exist but I'm asking for completely separate profiles as a whole. Thanks in advance ^-^
I was on Udemy and in order to play the video, I clicked Enable in the notification at the top of the screen so that I could play the DRM content.
After doing so, the notification said that Librewolf was downloading something but the notification quickly disappeared before I could finish reading it.
I would rather keep this DRM content option off/disabled while not on Udemy but I'm not sure if there is something more I should do besides unchecking the box in Settings > General > Digital Right Management (DRM) Content.
In Firefox, you can go to Plugins and disable it there but that option does not show up in Librewolf.
I'm new to this stuff and I want to make sure that my Librewolf browser stays as private as possible while not on Udemy. Is there another step I should take besides disabling DRM in General Settings? Thanks I'm a newb.
Every time I missclick a button the search bar shows up.
How do I change the color of a new actively loading tab from the default to a color of my choice. I know how to change the about:config to modify the background_color of new blank tabs which I have done successfully. However I want to modify the color of a newly opened tab that shows the default color for a fraction of a second before the content loads. It shows the default. Is this possible? If so how is it done?
Video services such as YouTube and TikTok seem to have some performance issues for me, is this due to privacy measures taking place or anything else (such as my adblocker uBlock Origin)
My issue doesnt happen constantly but in the case of YouTube, sometimes it lags in a way that seems like its struggling to decode the video, although my GPU and CPU usage remains unchanged
In the case of TikTok, scrolling seems to be very non-responsive at times, sometimes waiting a second or two for something to scroll along.
I haven't had these problems on other browsers
Otherwise, on other websites, I don't seem to be having any issues
Currently thinking of switching from Firefox, using windows ATM. Last time I used this browser it did not have an auto update feature. I have some following questions:
1- how fast does this browser update? Like same day as Firefox? (Security concern)
2- can it now auto update on windows?
3- how resource hungry is it when compared to base Firefox? (Using a laptop not a pc) Like I hope there is no form of memory leaks leading to bonkers of resource consumption or frequent freezing.
4- is it more polished than Firefox?
When I press F11 to go fullscreen, the toolbar and tabs are still visible at the top of the program, but I want them to not show.
My vencord plugins in discord keep getting set to just the default ones enabled whenever i close and open librewolf. I set discord.com as an exception to the "Delete cookies and site data when LibreWolf is closed" setting but that didnt fix it. Should i disable/enable a different setting?
hey can someone help me get this one CSS on librewolf I want it's called firefox gx and I want to use it but I don't know how to get it can one of yall help me
I want to have a more minimal version of Librewolf. The tab bar is too big, I'm wondering if there is a way to decrease the size of it.
I recently installed LibreWolf on my EndeavourOS I use firefox as my Main Browser, and I use Libre and Thorium as my other browsers. However I noticed on an update LibreWolf was taking quite a bit of time. Then noticed the Install Location was near 20gb's. Is this normal?
I installed with yay -S librewolf
I have space for the program, but just didn't think it would be 20gb and growing.
2024-12-01 update:
I cross check with Firefox, and seems Firefox password behavior is very mess up now. I can't be certain the root cause if FF, but that is my guess now.
--- Original post ---
I am on MacOS 15.1, LibreWolf 132.0.1-1.
I switched from FF to LW a few months ago. Enabled FF sync. I can see my saved password from sync.
However, password auto fill does not seems to work in most of the time, not even for a local site in my home network.
Is it only me?
I get this may be a weird request but my work computer doesnt allow .dmg files to be opened and I use LibreWolf as my main browser on my home compute could someone please send me the .app file :)
Exporting bookmarks is easy but I want to automatically grab all the remembers passwords and settings. Is there a specific file I should put on my external drive to keep there or is there a shortcut to save this in librewolf?
I use linux all the time for work but have a windows system for gaming. Needing to do more from my personal computer is becoming a bigger deal and proton exists these days anyway so I'm moving to go fully linux. I am just trying to find where/how to move everything for the librewolf browser.
