What is Libertarian Communism?

The term is often used as a synonym for anarcho-communism. We mean it in a broader sense, referring to leftist tendencies that promote libertarian strategies (as opposed to centralized strategies such as vanguardism--all leftist tendencies seek libertarian outcomes) for the realization of a socialist society. Such tendencies include, but are not limited to, autonomism, anarcho-communism, platformism, specifism, insurrectionary communism, council communism, communizationism, and nihilist communism.

Why a Libertarian-Communist subreddit?

The most visible platforms for leftist thought on Reddit tend to gravitate toward Marxism-Leninism or social democracy. While it is not our wish to work against Marxist-Leninists, their views do not encompass the whole of Marxism, let alone the whole of the left, and we want to spread awareness of other currents. As for social democracy, we consider it to be a tendency within liberalism and not part of the left proper.

What is and isn't allowed here?

The goal is to make this sub a lightly-moderated space conducive to education and discussion. However, we do insist that posts be kept on-topic and that anti-socialist users refrain from using this sub as a dumping ground for "gotchas." We also reserve the right to remove slurs, hate speech, and overly-confrontational posts and comments. While LC is a non-ML sub, it is not an anti-ML sub, so please take any potshots at "tankies" elsewhere.
