Will the second row seats in the 2024 Overtrail + slide back and forth? I have heard they do not. That seems odd, given that there is no third row and there should be plenty of room to allow that.
Is there any possibility that it could be rectified with the 2025 model?
Which one of you is this?
Hey All. I mistakenly bought the GX550 roof rails assuming they would fit my Lux+ but didnt notice that I have a lower roof rail without the stock holes for the rails to fit into. Has anyone found a working solution or purchased the higher rails that come on other GX550 models? Thanks for the help.
Anyone have experience towing a 17’ Casita Travel Trailer with a GX460? Would be looking at a dry weight for the trailer of 2,480.
Need advice.
I'm having a hard time deciding whether to choose BeatSonic CarPlay module for built-in display or aftermarket option that copies 22+ models.
Initially, I was against any display changes, but this one actually looks like next model and I liked the explanation by GX Bob. Still, I fear it might look kinda cheap and laggy. In addition, I'm worried about 360 camera integration. Is there anybody who tried installing it?
Would love to hear opinions
I have 2023 GX
Is there a Dashcam anyone can recommend ?
I like the fitcamx because there’s no long loops of wire to cigarette ports but the reviews were so so on Amazon
Is the fitcamx a good option regardless? Or anything else ?
Thank you
Just bought a beautiful 2021 Lexus GX460. Lo and behold, I check the middle console when I get home, there is a safe! Ive reached out to dealership, and checked all documents in car. Is this a thing? Getting safes in your car?
Hi all,
I am trying to fix my father-in-laws brakes and isntalled the rear Power Stop kit consisting of rotors and pads.
The set comes with two clips for either side, am I right that these clip to the bottom of the outwards and inwards pad? I dont have enough for top and bottom for each pad as there are only 2.
Thanks!
Planning to replace my 2018 Ranger for this and its gonna be my first Lexus and upper end SUV (had a Toyota Fortuner before). Will this thing last for more than 10-15 years from now?
It’s either the 460 or a Prado
What’s good GX fam, running into a 30k maintenance. Searched as much as I could for information and find that I have the highest quote I’ve seen. What’s everyone’s take on this maintenance schedule and price ? All this necessary ? Seems expensive. Looks like everyone else got quoted ~6-800$
Also, how do I reset the light for key fob battery alert ? Swapped both batteries and the exclamation alert won’t clear. Can’t find anything online besides it will clear on its own, which it has not.
Thanks in advance !
I was driving in the middle of the night with the exterior temp 50 degrees. I was initially hot from packing the car, so the first 1-1.5 hr of my drive I had the temp on 65-66 (a/c defaults on). As I cooled down, I raised the temp to 68, 70, 72 (for reference, I rarely go over 70 in my day to day)… however, I noticed at 72 it was still blowing cold air. I raised it to 78 with no change to what I was feeling. Then I started checking other things…
• Raised the passenger to 78 to match mine- no change.
• Turned the a/c off- no change.
• The car defaults to pulling in external air, changed to recycle air - still no change.
• If I put the temp up to “max” it would finally blow what you’d expect for hot air, but anything less than max, say 82 or 78 - felt like somewhere between 65 and 68- very cool air.
I was able to make an appointment at the dealership I actually bought the car at and just happened to be traveling to that city, that day (about 5 hrs from home). They said it was the driver’s side servo that was a problem, ordered one in and had it installed the next morning (today).
Just a side note, another issue I was having was the usb port up by the driver. The bottom one works fine, but the top one constantly flickers on/off and can’t charge or keep you connected with Car Play- multiple cords tried and all show this same issue. The service dept specifically denied the replacement because they said I had a “bad cord”. However, when I pick my car up, my cord that has worked 100% on that lower usb until the moment I dropped it off for service, all of a sudden is completely dead - it has a light on the end that is on when it’s plugged in- NOTHING! It’s possible, but incredibly unlikely that it breaks the moment I turn my car over to them… however, it seems more like a convenient way to not have to repair the port and just write it off as “bad cord” and then actually break the cord so I think they’re know what they’re talking about 🤬 All that to say, that was the only reason I decided I better test out the heater, even though it was 80 degrees outside at this time.
I initially go to 82 and it’s blowing cool, but figure the engine needs to warm up so I go drive around for about 15 min. Same exact symptoms as before- will blast heat on max, but other than that, cool air that’s almost indistinguishable if you hold your hand over the vent as you’re raising the temp from 65 to 82.
I decide to take it back to the dealer just so they can document the issue isn’t fixed. I picked up my kids from their grandparents and we still have a 5 hr drive ahead of us, so that is honestly all I want. The service advisor says she wants them to run it thru the computer just to make sure they didn’t miss an update- says it will take 10 min.
A total of 2 hrs later, including 30 min of the service manager and I sitting together in the car messing with it, and him actually feeling that the temp wasn’t changing in any significant way from 65 to 82, the excuses I heard were:
• The car has a sensor by your knee and all over the car. If it senses you’re too hot, it won’t give you the heat you’re asking for, just what you actually need! 🤨
• The computers are just too smart, they don’t want you to feel like you’re being blasted by heat, so they do it very gradually.
• All of this was occurring in “manual temp mode”, however when the manager put it in auto mode and we had the ac blasting on low for a while, then changed to 82, the fan didn’t increase at all, it stayed on the lowest setting and the air continued to be cool air. I asked him if this was odd, thinking the car would want to get up to that temp quickly and more excuses about “the computer” and how it wants to raise them temp undetected!
So here are my questions that I’d love feedback from other 22/‘23 Gx owners, or anyone who is familiar with servicing them.
• Can you feel a distinct change in temp as you raise the thermostat? Does 82 degrees feel hot on your hand when it’s blowing, or not much different than 68?
(Just to make it apples to apples- use only the physical buttons, with the exception of turning the a/c off; select only the chest level vents and make sure the back vents are off. Start with “auto” climate control off. Play around with having both driver and passenger match temps vs keep one cool for comparison and climb the other one up. The outside air vs. recycled air didn’t seem to make a difference.)
• Once the servo was replaced it was 81 degrees outside (as opposed to 50 when I first experienced it), is there any chance that the computer decides to just bring air in from outside and then doesn’t feel the need to apply heat to it? So 81-82 just feels like if you turned on a fan in your room; cooler merely because it’s going thru a fan. Is that why you can’t feel that characteristic burning sensation like when you put your hand in front of air that is actively heated? (outdoor and recycled air both tried with no differences noted)
• If you have it on manual climate control, shouldn’t the air coming out of each vent be the temp you have it set at?? One nonsensical excuse they kept giving was, “the car is already warm enough, so it’s blowing cooler than the stated number to keep you at that temp.” Except, I’m not on auto, so that doesn’t make any sense. Also, if I want the car to be 82 degrees, continuing to blow 82 degree air should be fine… blowing 68 degree air will make the car colder.
• This isn’t my normal Lexus service center. Is all the gaslighting just so they can do as little as possible?? Kinda like what I suspect with the USB? I’m waiting for it to cool off outside, but I plan on shooting some video with a thermometer in order to objectively document what I’m feeling.
Sorry this was so long, but thank you for any insight you can provide!
How are you all (in cold/snowy/slushy salt areas) keeping your cars protected from rust?
Any opinions on doing yearly Fluid Film undercoats or just going through a car wash once/week? Midwest with lots of melting/freezing back and forth with the dreaded salty slush.
This might be a dumb question, but bear with me. I’ve never upgraded wheels and tires on a vehicle and looking to get something different for my (new to me) 22 460 Black Line.
I want some bigger tires and different wheels. I live in an area with a ton of rain and occasional winter snow. Also planning to do some light off-roading in the summers.
After endless research (this topic has been beat to death), I think I’ve landed on Toyo Open Country AT3’s in 265/70/17.
As for the wheels, I’m looking at the Rotiform STL’s. These have an offset of zero. Will this work with my vehicle? I don’t fully understand the offset compatibility subject.
Thanks for your help!
Has anyone installed this upgrade
LEXUS GX460 2013- Interior Face Lift Upgrade Kit 2020-2023 Old to New Look
Does it work perfectly?
Pros Cons
I’m aiming to purchase in about 6 months to a year and likely choosing the OT+ or Lux +
I don’t really see myself doing a ton of off-roading tbh. I think I prefer luxury overall, but I did want that panoramic moon roof. What are the big differences between the two that made you purchase one over the other?
I've searched the Lexus website the last couple of days and have seen several dealers showing numerous GXs available to purchase. I contact the dealers and they all say the vehicles are unavailable, and ask if I want to get on their sometime next summer wait list. I get that the vehicles are in low supply and high demand. But, in that case they shouldn't be showing them as available on the website.
I didn’t know the GX550 had the option of a different tow hitch cover?
I have a 2023 GX460 and have learned some people (YouTube- Car Care Nut) recommend undercoatings for their trucks. Is this a good idea for truck longevity when driving mostly on roads when subject to winter salt/brine, or is it just as effective to get a regular car wash with an undercarriage cleaning?
King 2.5s - barely leveled to keep max down travel - there are overtrail specific brackets since the EKDSS manifold gets in the way on the pass side. 17x8.5 +25 - you will need to remove rear brackets and massage front of the liner. Super easy to do. 315/70r17 KO3
Only thing I wish it had is a bigger tank. Since a full size spare doesn’t fit anymore, a large fuel cell there would be perfect.
I was wondering if anyone has seen or have a GX550 luxury +.
I "ordered" mine at the beginning of May but I have not seen any with the panoramic dimmable sunroof where I am and where a lot of Gx550s are quite prolific.
I was told mid July that the delivery got pushed until the end of the year but I'm not sure if it has even arrived to Texas/Georgia.
Hey everyone!
I'm looking to upgrade the tires on my Lexus GX and hoping to find something that has a rugged, off-road look but doesn’t compromise ride quality or increase road noise too much. I know there are a lot of options out there, but it’s tough to tell which will have that perfect balance until you see them in action.
For those of you who’ve found the sweet spot, I'd love to hear what you went with! Even better if you could share some photos of your GX with the tires on—seeing them on the vehicle really helps get a sense of how they look and fit.
Thanks in advance for any insights or suggestions!
Curious if others have noticed how wobbly the rear spoiler is on their 550? The spoiler is mounted to the glass so it’s a different setup than I’ve seen before but still feels poorly designed or installed.
