Looking to get a 28. Really eyeing the 28 2.8 color skopar. Anyone have experiences with that one?

Hi,

I have been thinking of stepping up to a Leica M11 or M11p as a one-size-fits-all camera that I’ll use as an everyday camera for taking photos of my toddler. Most of my photos would be at home taking photos of my kid(s) growing up, as well as street photography in the city. I don’t see myself editing photos on light room after the fact, so most of these photos will probably be enjoyed unedited aside from cropping.

Edit: After hearing folks recommend using light room and looking into it, it doesn’t seem that hard and I’m open to editing photos a bit. I also have the means of getting a free LR license.

I have very limited experience with manual focus, but this is something i enjoy learning and wouldn’t mind. With that said, if I could buy a M11 and pair it with just one lens to start, what would be a good recommendation given my use case?

1. I’ve looked at the 35mm Summilux f1.4 FLE both v1 and v2, but i’m not sure if the difference is noticeable for my use.

2. Another lens I’ve seen is the 35mm Summicron f2.0. Are there any advantages to getting this lens over the summilux?

3. Should I consider 28mm lenses too, given the 60mp headspace I have to crop?

Any recommendations on Dx0 Photolab for editing digital Leica files?

I'm looking to get away from the subscription based LR and PS as I don't use them fully, and want something to just adjust some colors, maybe apply some filters I premake, and the occasional spot editing / removal of stuff (leaves etc).

I was hoping someone could help me. I understand from a few web sites that all Leitz Summitar 50s were screw mount, not bayonet mount. (Looking at Ken Rockwell) But mine has a serial of 739xxx (1949), 10 blades (not six), and is M Mount (not screw). Is this possible? Any online references you can share? Thank you!

I’m thinking of using my Q3 for eclipse photos with a 20 stop and filter. I’m concerned that this might damage the camera.

Has anyone tried solar photography with their Q3?

Any suggestions on filter brand or things to do, not do?

I just got a M10M, and the photos that come out of it are typically rather flat. This is expected and part of the process.

I'm wondering if anyone might have some recommended presets for the Monochrom specifically that can quickly spiff up pictures, giving a nicer baseline to work from.

The frame counter on my black chrome M4 frame counter is jammed and it won’t reset.

I’m thinking about servicing it through Leica but they’re telling me it’ll be 11 months (has to be shipped to 🇩🇪) before I have it back.

Should I go that route or should I send it to KEH or another reputable servicer. All advice and recommendations are welcome 🙂

I suppose it's too early yet but is anyone aware of any aftermarket accessories for the SL3 like a thumb grip, Arca baseplate or L-bracket, half case, etc. ? I know Smallrig has a cage but I think that's all I've seen.

Keen for some thoughts, I'm going to move on from my M240 in the coming months. Mostly just for newer ergonomics and improved rangefinder on a newer M10 generation camera and some future proofing.

I've been keen on finding an M10-P but pricing is a lot higher than regular M10. For a little more I could get a regular M10 and an M4-P (for example) to replace my Nikon F3 for when I want to shoot film.

Apart from the cosmetics of the M10-P being 'cool' and the quieter shutter which I don't mind paying a £200-300 more for, current listings would be £1000+ more, is there any actual benefit of getting the P? Or am I better off spending £1200-1500 more for an M10-R vs an M10 - this price difference could also find a 50 Summicron to go with my 28 elmarit or a film body, or a mix of both with selling some other gear.

A slight rambling but keen to hear what people would do.

So, after my M-D from MPB came with the rangefinder severely out of alignment, I’ve kinda gotten nervous about looking for a film M body on the used market.

Does anyone have tips for finding one without having to immediately turn it around to Leica NJ for repairs?

I’ve been looking at an M3, M4-P, or M6, as I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I want something reliable. Part of me wonders if the M6 is the best choice just because it’s (even the classic variants) the newest model and least likely to be in poor condition.

I get it real Leica glass cost, for good reason. I’m wondering what the community’s thoughts are on be value for a first 50mm m lens is. For the time being it will be paired with an M3 double stroke.

I’m currently using an M6 with a modern Godox V350 flash. Sometimes it works, I go with F11 1/32 ISO 400 and fire away but I’m not confident of the results.

Any tips on how to make this work more consistently and accurately? I’ve donee my research (unsuccessfully) but I still came out empty.

My wife and I have a 1 year-old with another on the way and I need a camera to capture these amazing family memories!

My old Sony a600 died a few years ago and I’ve just been using my iPhone. I miss having high quality photos and want to capture family memories. I also enjoy street photography and we do lots of traveling. I love the color profile of the Leica systems so I’m leaning that way, but I also realize I would be paying ALOT for that feature. Perhaps I can re-create some of that color profile with an X100V and Lightroom?

I’ve used my brothers, older M4 film camera and love the rangefinder system. But my worries with the M series are: theft while traveling and being able to focus it quickly.

Debating between X100V vs Q3 versus M10/M10-R.

I’m leaning towards the x100 and putting the rest of the money in the kids college fund. but I’m worried I’m not gonna get the photos I’m looking for and ultimately regret, the x100.

Budget: $5000 USD, but could stretch it to $8000.

TLDR: Need camera for family photos, street photography, and traveling. Budget $5000 USD but could go up to $8000.

Just as the title says. I've researched and seen that Zeiss are quite sharp, but I don't know how they compare to higher end Leica glass in that department. I'm looking for the sharpest 50mm lens I can find. Basically for b&w high contrast photography to show tons of texture and grit. The more clinical, the better.

Does anyone have any preferences for lens hoods on the Voigtlander 28mm Ultron ii? I’ve been looking at the LH-12 and LH-4N but wanted to see if there were any other options out there. Thanks!

Hello, yesterday i placed order for the Voigtlander color skopar 28mm ltm.
Today they called from the shop and told me that their dealer partner told them that it's an order from the manufacturer that they cannot sell voigtlander products in Slovakia. So the shop recalled all the voigtlander products from their e-shop.

Does anyone have some info about this what is all about ?
I know we are small market but I'm bummed nontheles.

(disclaimer - this happend today, so it's fresh and not confirmed by anyone else but the shop contact so I don't want to spread maybe false information and take this with grain of salt - but i don't have my lens so .. :D)
