Hi Friends!
I am an undergraduate student working on a senior thesis investigating nonbinary pronouns comprehension in second languages. I am interested in using Afrikaans for the study as it seems to have a similar pronoun-space and grammatical gender structure to English (gendered third person personal pronouns but not nouns). Does anyone have any information (anecdotal or scientific) on how Afrikaans is adapting to nonbinary pronouns? It would be ideal for study if they are using 'hulle' like English is using 'they.' Thanks!
