Violating the rollowing rules will result in post removal, and likely a ban:

  1. All posts must have a descriptive title

  2. Image submissions require a detailed comment describing them, or they will be deleted

  3. Self posts require details in the post body. One-sentence questions will be deleted.

  4. Posts showing us your single box of ammo will be deleted. Nobody cares. Post it with a rifle, and talk about the rifle.

  5. Be kind to one another. Insults will not be tolerated, and bans will be incoming.

  6. No firearms transactions or free estimates of any kind on this sub. You're permitted to do a price-check on an accessory, but DO NOT post asking what your rifle is worth, it'll be deleted. If that comes in up conversation, that's another thing.

  7. No politics of any kind. Also, no shilling for Rhodesia.

  8. No open-ended questions (i.e., "What do you think is the best rifle ever?"

  9. No links to contests, guns or accessories for sale, political posts, opinion blogs, etc. We are here to talk about old-ass British rifles and old-ass British rifle accessories. Webleys and the like can stay, I suppose.

  10. No Insta-style drive-by karma farms with Enfield cartoons. Posts must center around a real-ass rifle. No art without mod approval. No memes, period.

Help with stuck bolt.

Hey everybody, I recently took my 1918 SMLE to a range, and when I shot the first round the bolt became stuck and wouldn't open. When I finally got it to open by pushing a ram rod down the barrel, the casing had these scratches all along it. Any idea what might be causing this?

Smle no4 mk1 barrel bands

I ended up getting this no4 mk1 at a show along with replacement wood, a manual, a bayonet and 200rds of ammo for $520. Unfortunately despite having the wood to get it back to original configuration I need to get the ring at the rear, as well as the middle and front barrel band. Does anyone know if the different models have compatibility with these parts, or is it only specific parts for the no4 mk1 that'll fit? anything else I should be aware of as a new owner is more than welcome. To my untrained eye it looks like the only permanent modification to the gun is aftermarket sling swivels

Scope mount

Anyone tell me what scope mount will fit this Enfield? This peep sight it has on it is insanely small and would like a scope to deer hunt with it

What is this?

Found this in the rear compartment of my 1950 longbranch. I feel like I’ve seen this before online but can’t seem to google it. Anyone know what it is and why it may be in here

No 4 MK 1 identification

No 4 Mk 1 sporterized to hell Enfield

Serial numbers possibly M147C/ stamped 1944 England/N 33186

No 4 MK1 33186

A crown and BNP stamp

My dad brought this hunting this weekend. He said he bought it from Kmart (in the US) in the mid 60's for about 18 bucks. Obviously it's been sporterized to hell but still has plenty of identification on it so I thought maybe someone would be able to provide the finer details. Im a complete newb at this stuff

New video - How to refurbish your Lee-Enfield SMLE rifle

A video showing the process of disassembling, refurbishing/refinishing, and reassembling a 1917 Aussie SMLE rifle. We did this so it could be displayed on Remembrance Day in the town where it had been owned by a man who served, before he donated it to the local history museum that he helped to establish. The museum's permit to own rifles expired and it was only due to intense negotiation and effort that it escaped being crushed after being surrendered. It now has a secure future, and as shown in the video, has been cleaned up for display.

How to polish a turd

So I've had a Ishy 2a for a while but hated the half finished looking hardware and #4 style stock strap. So I grabbed some NoS bits from my stash and fitted up a '56 dated forend to it.

How much oil?

New to Enfields and gun maintenance in general and just curious on how much gun oil should be used on them? Probably very little. Because I took it apart one day yes and some mechanisms seemed quite dry

Barrel band?

Any idea how I can remove the barrel band on my No.5 MK1 ? The screw seems to be stuck and I’ve tried WD-40, hops No. 9, and (carefully) a power drill. Any ideas?

1907 BSA co ShtLE Mk I*** GF

Just found out there's an Enfield sub, so gotta post this beauty over here.

I found this Irish free state Mk I*** a couple weeks ago, and had to add it to the collection. Rifle is G-prefix marked, all matching except thr bolt which is 2 numbers off, and has original wire wrapping for grenade firing. The magazine cutoff was removed prior to being sent to Ireland, but was originally manufactured with one. Interestingly the barrel is about 3/8" longer than my 1918 Enfield Mk III*.

The bolt head charger guide is unfortunately missing though, does anyone have a lead on one? So far the usual places have come up dry, but it is a very niche part.

Butt stock lengths question

I just purchased a No4 online, but just noticed it has the "short" butt length. At 6' 1", will this be a problem? Any suggestions for the rubber pads that I can use to extend the stock?

Thanks!
