Is this considered damaged or clean?

I've been trying to fix my PS2 disc for a while and I'm not sure how it works and tried all the methods from YouTube to figure it out, and im not sure if I'm doing it right or wrong.

Need possible repair advice

As you can see from the video I picked up this cld 2080 for 20 bucks which is capable of loading discs and struggles to play video after about a minute when it does actually play. When I first started it up it wouldn't play at all, just sorta spin up and then spin down. So the question I have for those familiar or those who have troubleshooting suggestions: where do you think I could most likely narrow the problem down to? Does it need a recap, which I'm fairly capable of doing though I haven't seen any bulging capacitors, is it possible the laser is bad are they capable of working and then losing power, or is it a calibration issue as I know the laserdisc standard is fairly precise. I hope I can repair this thing as it seems like a quality player from what I can tell and even plays both sides that function of flipping the laser pickup is still working too.

Sony SDP-E800 - worth it?

hello all,

ive been doing some research on LDDB, and i found that Sony SDP-E800 AC-3 RF / 4.0 Pro Logic decoder would be perfect for what im looking for in a surround processor for analog sources - it decodes Pro Logic VHS and LD, and demodulates AC-3 RF LD, and outputs over toslink digital out..

I saw the last one on ebay sold a couple days ago, and that they turn up every once in a while on there. Is it worth it to keep hunting for this decoder, or are there better options out there? I know this model has had some cooling issues etc.

Going through my grandparents’ collection. How do I determine value?

If it’s not painfully obvious, I know next to nothing about LaserDiscs.

I don't think I'm the only one who does this? 😂 Or do I have a problem 🤕

2nd copy on LD arrived today, as my first copy split wide open 😱

I Snatch that before Canadian devise drop to pesos... Worth every pesos!🤣😍

Apparently this cover is rare? I dunno about that? There's a signature on the right (her left) in the sheet : Matthiew 84. Probably the painter that did the cover.

The Shining... What else i can say? This going to my collection of Kubrick. I have Spartacus, Lollita, 2001 space odyssey, Dr stangelove, clockwork orange and now The Shining... Missing : the Killing, the path of glory, Barry lindon...?

Calibration disk workaround, a wild idea.

For those of us with otherwise dead machines who have nothing to lose with a little tinkering, the tech remotes are easy enough to obtain aftermarket, but the signal discs are basically non existent. Cost and practicality of us crowdsourcing a pressing is unlikely.

https://archive.org/details/pioneer-ggv-1069-cav-ntsc-side-1

So, we have the ld-decode files for the elusive ggv1012/1069 calibration disks. And sure the machine wants you to go to certain frames, cus that’s where the patterns are on the disc.

What if we use CD-V? Yeah it’s only 5 mins of video per disk, and I’d never want to master/transcode new stuff, but for THIS disk, so many of us NEED it, and a bunch of machines can play cd-v

We can still burn cd-v. Could we break it up into a dozen isos, and remap where the relevant frames are on which disk? Sure we can’t get to the edges, for full range of motion, but could we splice the scope signals across several discs? If it’s just a raw analog video am I crazy? I have no idea where to start on something like that, and I’ll take my lumps if I’m way off base…

Getting back into LaserDisc but which player should I go with?

Hey Everyone,

I used to have a small laserdisc collection about 20 years ago. I had some Pioneer with had the auto side swap inside. Getting back into it now, I kept a few of my movies that I'd like to watch again and get a plater setup on my Sony Trinitron CRT TV that I use for my Retro game systems. Not 100% sure what I should be looking for in a player, I do know that I want a Pioneer one. Right now I'm on the fence between a ELITE CLD-59 and a CLD-V820  for roughly the same price. The 820 has a remote which is a neat bonus. Which one should I be leaning towards?

New Arrival

One of the things that had been on my wishlist. Probably paid too much, but was able to get a copy that was still sealed.

Looks like time for a marathon movie day soon!

Pulp Fiction (signed)

Hello everyone, I’m trying to find out if it’s worth trying to sell a laser disc I have. Signed by Tarantino, Thurman, and Travolta. I can see some through a Hollywood memorabilia website for sale but don’t really trust the asking price. No rot and cover is in good shape. Has a COA. Any thoughts? Thanks

Looking to get into laserdiscs. What are good players/model numbers to look out for?

Trying to figure out which players are the most reliable and feature-rich. Also are the ones that can read on both sides good to get or are they prone to failure?

Looking for a NOS/new KHS-130A pickup for a sony player online

Has anyone here ever bought from aliexpress a pickup to replace their dead ones? Mine has gone mad for a number of decades now. I'm still relying on a low-end PAL only player, although my MDP-650D reads NTSC media as well.

I've looked so far at a bunch of sellers on aliexpress, all of them having close to 0 reviews. Some advertise their product as "100% new and original" some straight up doesn't say anything about the condition.

Some even have this packaging as an advertising picture (attached). How can I be sure this isn't total BS from them?

If any of you guys ever got to deal with such a situation, how did it go?

Night of the Demons II laserdisc screen captures

Alternative Screenshots: https://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=2327&p=140461#p140461

Player: Pioneer CLD-3080

Capture Device: Diamond VC500 OBS uncompressed 720p 60fps 114 Mb/s OBS studio

Movie: Night of the Demons II

Info: This is not a family friendly movie. It has gratuitous nudity as well as a lot of cleavage and sexual imagery. I know in this day of age people probably don't mind showing their children stuff like this. However, to people who are religious. You have been warned. There's a lot of cleavage shown in this movie as well as gratuitous nudity. One of the female characters is really well endowed in the chest region. I don't even count that one screenshot as cleavage. I purposely did not pick overly sexual images. I just like how that screen showed the lighting when it flashed. That's not even the actress. The actress that really shows off the goods is the one with the bright blue eyes. Actually, both actresses are busty and both show off the goods. However, the one actress wears certain outfits that show off her chest big time in certain scenes.
