Lake Powell Boat Rental

I am looking to rent a Pontoon boat on Lake Powell for 5 days in July 2025. Needs to be big enough for 10 people and able to pull toys. What (where) would you recommend?

Should I rent a boat at Wahweap marina or go somewhere else?

Hello,

My gf and I planned a last minute trip to Lake Powell. We’re looking to rent a boat next week (9/18) and was debating on going with wahweap marina or some local shop? If local shop, does anyone have recommendations?

I have experience boating but I have never launched a boat before. For that reason, I feel like Wahweap marina might be the better option?

We just want a boat to explore and go fishing so any advice is welcome please!

Thank you all in advance!

Update: went with antelope - regret it. Boat was in okay condition however when I booked it, I paid for a full day which said 8am - 6pm. When I got there, they said they just changed it today to 8am-4pm. I got there at 9am since I thought the whole time we would have the boat until 6pm and had to wait for the guy to come back from break to do the boat check off list. Wasn’t on the water until 1030am…. I asked if I would be charged for half day since 1030am - 4pm is 6 hours and they said no since the time starts when I checked in which was 9am…

Stopping Points Between Vegas and Wahweap

Hey everyone, I’ve planned to rent a houseboat out of Wahweap for my brother’s bachelor party at the end of next May. We’re flying into Vegas and driving from Vegas to the marina. Unfortunately, the earliest time I could reserve the houseboat was 11am, so we’re going to have a bit of time to kill between the time we leave Vegas (around 1am the night before) and board the houseboat in Wahweap. I’m wondering if anyone knows of any good scenic spots that we can stop along the way to watch the sunrise or something like that. Maybe a good breakfast spot around Page? Any recommendations would be appreciated — I’m trying to avoiding sitting at the marina for 3+ hours, lol.

Anyone Tried Lake Powell Adventure Co?

We're two friends looking for a guided hike and kayaking tour to Antelope Canyon and we stumbled upon Lake Powell Adventure Co which seems to have great reviews, but we wanted to know if anyone has tried their tours and how their experience went overall. We're planning to go next week, and we plan to spend a full day there. I would appreciate any suggestion or feedback!

Is it true

I heard a rumor that you cannot stay or swim on your houseboat while in a slip at wahweep. Can anyone confirm?

Bullfrog Marina/Houseboat Rental Advice

Hi and thank you in advance to anyone who has advice for us!

My husband and I are renting a houseboat from Bullfrog (the 46 ft. Expedition) and since this is our first time even visiting Lake Powell, I just wanted to ask a few questions before we go.

  1. We pick up on a Tuesday at 10am...what are the chances that the boat and instructor will truly be ready at that time? Has anyone rented from Bullfrog recently and can you tell me your pickup experience?

  2. We have a sturdy, inflatable kayak that we plan on using to explore smaller canyons...is that advisable or are jet skis and speedboats really the only way to do this successfully?

  3. If we are renting Tuesday-Saturday, considering gas, how far should we really go out and turn around and not be in danger of running out of gas?

  4. How worried should I be about the houseboat and personal belongings when out exploring on our kayak?

Thank you! :)

Kayak to Antelope Canyon

Hi y’all,

I’m planning to kayak from Lake Powell to Antelope Canyon somewhere mid October

For that, I will need a kayak. Anyone know a good place to rent one?

Any other tips I should be aware of?

By the way, we will be staying in Page during that time. In case that matters.

Rainbow Bridge Tours

Anyone know when Rainbow Bridge boat tours will resume? They were running earlier this year, then stopped for "mechanical issues." I was told they would resume around July 15th but nothing is available on the website.

Advice for next summer:

Hi! My sister and I want to go to LP next summer with our families. We used to go with our parents as teens but things have probably changed.

We can drive boats: was the designated waterski boat driver at 18 and very good at getting people up, my sister and her husband are sailors.

We are coming from Salt Lake.

So to get us started I have a couple questions:

Which marina?

Is there an “official” houseboat rental place or is there anything I need to be wary of renting?

We want to go about this time next year. We should book now right?

Any other “getting started” tips? Don’t overload me please!

Boat rental in Oct, near Page AZ

Hello! My family and I will be in Page AZ around Oct 18th and want to get on the water. I’ve been a boater for years on the east coast so I’m fine to operate it. If we rent near Antelope what can we expect? Places to visit? Routes to take?

Appreciate your advice!

Engagement photographer?

It’s a long shot, but does anyone here have any recommendations for a photographer who would come out on the lake to take some engagement photos?

My finance and I met on Lake Powell 7 years ago and got engaged on the lake 2 years ago. Needless to say it’s a pretty special place to us. We would love to have some engagement photos taken when we go out for our annual trip mid-August. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Overnight kayak trip on the lake

Two friends and I are doing a road trip around southern Utah at the end of September this year and would love to spend some time on Lake Powell. We can't afford to rent a boat or sea-doos, but are relatively fit and intermediate-level kayakers and campers. Right now we're thinking of renting from Antelope Point Marina and then kayaking to Labyrinth Canyon and setting up camp there for the night, then kayaking back the next morning. Is this realistic? How long does it take to kayak that distance? Ideally we want to kayak and swim around some quieter, narrower canyon areas. Any advice is appreciated!

Lake Powell at an ALL-TIME Low!! And we are not talking water levels.

I need to preface this post by saying that Lake Powell is one of my favorite places on earth and is the site of too many monumental childhood and adult memories to mention here. My family and I have been traveling to Lake Powell for the last 45 years, usually making 2-3 trips a year and spending time on a houseboat. We have traveled and stayed in dozens of different canyons over the years and we have seen and experienced so much. Never in 45 years have I been as disappointed in the Marina services as we were in a recent trip the first week in July 2024. Two marinas - Bull Frog and Halls Crossing. Bull Frog has gas but not a sufficient area to pump out and Halls has a pump out service but no gas. Boaters are being forced to do gas at Bullfrog and pump out at Halls Crossing. You must understand the inconvenience of traveling by houseboat across to the two separate marinas. As inconvenient as it was we still did it. We gased up at Bullfrog then traveled to Halls Crossing only to discover that of the 8 pump-out stations only 1 works. What is happening? We waited 4 hours before our pump-out process could be completed. For the first time in 45 years I said to my wife on the way home that I don't know if it is worth it to come to Lake Powell anymore. A sad state of affair's!! Please help me know to whom I can formalize these concerns and grave errors in marina management.

What if the buildings at the old Dangling Rope site?

With the Marina having been dismantled and moved to another point on the lake, were the buildings at the marina and on land also torn down?

Suggestions for 4 day trip to Lake Powell and area

We are traveling to Lake Powell for a 4 day trip. I have booked a pontoon boat for 2 days, out of Wahweap Marina; this is two separate 1 day rentals, not consecutive days.

Any suggestions on:

  1. Spots to visit/goto on Lake Powell on single full day outings?

  2. Places to visit/things to do in surrounding areas? Already going to Antelope Canyon one day.

  3. Dining suggestions in surrounds area?

  4. Anyone who has visited recently, how are the lake conditions?

Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions/feedback
