LG is one ADK town I don't have much experience with. Due to Airbnb prices in this town (like $800/night), my family and I would probably get a double-room or suite in a motel. We're looking for a place where our child can sleep in a separate room while my spouse and stay up a little later.
Many of the motel websites I'm pulling up aren't allowing any booking at all currently, or if they are only up to about two weeks out, but nothing in the summer. (or it's worse than I thought and they're all sold out for 2025 already)
The double double rooms and suites seem more rare than single rooms and we'd like to get one booked before it's too late.
Is there any general time when these motels open up and start taking reservations for late summer 2025? Do they start to open up for Memorial day?
Thanks.
Looking for restaurant and bar recs with the best holiday decor in Lake George?!
We live in the desert SW. Lived in upstate NY as children a long time ago but not near LG. Now recently active retired and need ideas where to spend a week in the area. Ideally a rental on the water near hiking and other activities nearby. Will be arriving ALB and renting a vehicle.
Hello, I have recently moved to the area and have also recently been diagnosed with cancer. My mom has been instrumental with helping to care for me and my kids while I go through surgeries and chemo.
I am hoping to get my mom and my stepdad an experience or a stay in the area (hopefully without breaking the bank too much).
My mom grew up vacationing at lake George almost every year funnily enough from the mid 60’s to the 80s. She and my stepdad are not the most adventurous and aren’t able to do things with tons of walking.
I know it will be December so I assume boat rides and such are out of the question. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or recommendations on a place to get them to stay for a night?
Sorry for the long post and I much appreciate any advice.
I’m looking for a place to have my wedding next year. I inquired about one site, but they are booked up already for next year. Anyone know of places whether directly on lake george or in the region? Looking to rent out campsite (cabins, hall)
Hi, I’ll be heading to lake George for a couple days over New Year’s Eve, any suggestions for fun things to do/see/eat?
For context, we’re a group of about 8 friends in our late 20s early 30s. Thanks!
I m visiting this November 1st week with my daughter of 6. Are there any cruises on the lake ? I checked couple of them online, both Lake George Shoreline Cruises & lakegeorgesteamboat seems to be closed :( she couldn’t much hike.
My husband and I are wrapping up our honeymoon in LG, this our last full day and we are wondering if there are any things to do while here in the fall? A lot of the shops have closed for the season, and we've done prospect mtn, fort William Henry, had some great meals, walked the strip. What else should we do? He's not a big boat person so the Mohican is out of the picture
Hello,
We live in PA and my family and I are tired of the same old Jersey shore vacations. We are looking to visit new places and our in-laws mentioned how much they loved visiting Lake George in the past. We would be looking to visit in the July or August months.
Can anyone please recommend any resorts or hotels suitable for a family with 2 young children that is close to the action?
Any favorite restaurant recommendations (open to various cuisine)? Family fun activities in the area?
I appreciate any and all insight!
Thank you!
My wife and I have the possibility of acquiring land in Bolton Landing, where we vacation once or twice a year and where we have family. We are debating whether we should consider building a home there, with a view to retiring there in the longer term. Right now we are looking to reach out to builders in the area just to get a feel of the costs associated with building something. We spoke with one customer builder and they said the absolute starting point is $650 per square foot and then you move up based on custom finishes/fittings etc (and of course there could be other expenses if they run into construction challenges (Rock, Driveway issues, septic site, well/utilities etc). This would make a 2,000 sq home $1.3m to build just as a starting point!
$650 p sqf seems really high - or maybe I just don't understand the industry/location well enough - appreciate any insights, as well as any recommendations for builders in the area who we might contact. Maybe we started with the wrong builder......
Thank you
My son will be turning 21 in June and wants to go somewhere where we can bar hop and listen to live music? I have been to LG many times, but always with him when he was younger so we paid more attention to arcades than bars..is there a variety of bars & music to make a weekend out of it?
I drove by earlier in the week and noticed it was completely gone. Anyone know what happened or what is replacing?
Edit: 100% aware the food was awful, I was more surprised to see the entire building gone.
I am looking to book accommodations for the Columbus Day weekend. I am split between booking a room at one of the lakefront motels or the Best Western south of lake George. Is it better to stay at the lakefront motel to avoid finding parking or is parking readily available so staying at the Best Western isn’t as much of an issue. I think we’ll try to hit up the Oktoberfest festival, yard sale event, and possibly the fireworks this weekend. Thanks!
How is the Fall Foliage looking like at this time of the year. we are planning to travel this weekend just for Fall Foliage. is it worth it or should we wait couple weeks
Sorry for such a generic post but the Mrs. and I are looking into making a trip up in early march, neither of us ski or snowboard, but snow tubing may be fun. She has some family history near gore mountain. Any recommendations for places to stay? Non snow sport things to do? Is it worth a visit that time of year? Is ice fishing still an option in march?
During the winter, what is the thickest the ice gets in the middle of the lake and closer to the shore?
Thanks Y'all
Hi all! Coming for a weekend(ish) trip with my mom this weekend and I have a lot of our activities planned, but wanted to get some real person input on restaurants with vegan options since google isn’t always super accurate. We’ll be staying at Marine Village Resort and hitting up the Warrensburg garage sale Thursday, the rail bike on Friday, and a steamboat cruise on Saturday! Thanks in advance :)
Looking in boltons landing and queensbury trying to see if i can reliably get an uber to lake george village. Thanks!
Hi everyone. My boyfriend and I are visiting for a week in October to celebrate our 2 year anniversary and so far we have dinner plans at the Sagamore and hiking plans at prospect mountain.
Other than that, we are not very familiar with the area. If you all have any recs for pumpkin/apple picking nearby, bars, breweries, you name it. We like a more chill vibe but we are open to pretty much anything!!
Going in early october to get away post wedding for a few days! Any and all recs appreciated as neither i nor fiance have been. Tia:)
Does anyone know the back story of the "Sprinkler system notice in residential leases" law? I have to sign an acknowledgement that the rental property does or does not have a sprinkler system. Seems odd and there HAS to be some sort of reason behind it.
https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/RPP/231-A
§ 231-a. Sprinkler system notice in residential leases. 1. Every
residential lease shall provide conspicuous notice in bold face type as
to the existence or non-existence of a maintained and operative
sprinkler system in the leased premises.
same meaning as defined in section one hundred fifty-five-a of the
executive law.
leased premises, the residential lease agreement shall provide further
notice as to the last date of maintenance and inspection.
We’ll be staying there Wednesday through Friday. Just curious if most restaurants/shops are open even though it’ll be off season. Also, would love restaurant and bar recommendations. Thanks!
Staying in Huletts landing this weekend- having trouble finding any close by grocery stores to stop at in town! Could anyone local offer some insight on the area? Traveling up through Albany and Saratoga Springs as we are coming from RI! Thank you!!
Give me date night recommendations for dinner! Don’t want to break the bank but obviously don’t want to cheap out!
EDIT: can be in lg village or Bolton landing. Also looking for somewhere where the gf and I can dress up a little!
I'm not a prude and swear like a sailor when the need arises. That said, on a recent visit down the main Lake George shopping street, I saw multiple "gift shops" very prominently displaying merch with swear words, mostly combined with pro-Trump political slogans, that seemed very much out of place for a tourist town. I would think that if a town is trying to appeal to tourists of all backgrounds and opinions, they'd try to stay away from stuff like that. So what's up guys? Is Lake George just meant for pro-Trump visitors and uncaring of those who don't think the same way? I thought this place would be like a nice tourist mountain town... but this stuff breaks that illusion.
Hi everyone! I’m looking to get married in Bolton Landing in October 2025 and was looking for photographer suggestions? I’m also open to any budding/amateur photographers that are interested, thank you in advance!!
I see Bolton Landing has fireworks tonight. Did I already miss the boat for LG Village fireworks this weekend?
Looking to rent out an ATV for us two for a few hours this weekend does anybody know of any cheap places I can rent them at? We are not picky we are open to anything
