I recently got my financial aid package and am projected to pay around 60k/year. LMU is my top school, but compared to other schools I have been accepted to, there is no way I would attend LMU if I am paying anymore than 47k/year. I believe there are valid reasons why I can get more aid based on my 7th semester/future plans so I plan to appeal.
Is it appropriate to request that my tuition be dropped a certain amount. I don’t want to ask and only be given like 2k off. I’d rather be transparent and if they give me less than I request I’ll deal with it, I just don’t want to come off as rude.
Also are there any other ways I can drop the tuition and when is the best time to appeal?
Hello yall I received a good amount of merit aid but I’m not eligible for fincial aid. LMU is doable but still very expensive and I saw yall saying one can appeal for more merit aid. Does anyone know the process of appealing and could I lose the merit aid I already received?
Does anyone know if the distribution center accepts packages on the weekends? Like I know, no one is working on the weekends, But I'm wondering if delivery drivers can still drop stuff off.
How does someone become an RA at LMU? And what are the perks?
Hello! I'm trying to figure out a financial plan for my upcoming year's at LMU and was wondering what an RA gets paid at LMU?
i got the lmu global scholarship + the EA grant. is it the maximum merit aid for internationals or can i appeal?
Hey yall I just received an email saying that I will get my financial aid offer later today. Did anyone else get this? Also does anyone know if this offer will include merit aid?
Hello I applied to LMU’s honors program after being accepted EA. I read that it comes out in February and wanted to know if anyone has a more specific date or a guess based on past release dates. Thank you in advance!
Hey everyone! I'm transferring to lmu fall 2025 and wanted to ask if there's a lot of antisemitism on campus - I currently go to cc where I ussually just lie and tell people I'm persian christian, but I want to make genuine relationships at lmu and was wondering if I could still make friends given that I'm a jew (and a dual israeli citizen)?
Pls give advice!
Hey guys I just an email and I don’t really quite understand it. It says I’ve been denied but it also says something about possible transfer? Do they mean transfer for this year? Or what. I’m so confused.
Hey guys. I recently got an email that I was accepted to do the interview process for LMUs marriage and family therapy/art therapy masters program. I am curious what the personal interview and the group interview will be like. If anyone has done this process I would appreciate any advice, tips, or questions you remember. Thanks!
Hi My daughter shares an apt on campus with 3 others, who are all very ill - and I understand that this virus has impacted many on and off campus. I would like to have her come home and study remote instead of joining her roomies in this misery. We live 1 hr away. What are other students doing who have sick roomies?
Any insight would be appreciated, I’m not super religious but would like to be apart of a strong Jewish community so anything you could share would be appreciated.
just got an email about admitted students day and was wondering if any of yall went and what you thought!
Hi! I'm a high school student that has applied to LMU's music program with a concentration in voice. I just received an email inviting me to a zoom interview. For anyone who has experience with this, can you share how it went/ what to expect? Thank you!
i know first years tend to live in residence halls and sophomores tend to live in suites, so where would a rising sophomore transfer live?
I am wondering what will be the cheapest and fastest way to transfer money from India for tuition, housing, and general living expenses?
Are there any services you like in particular and how much have you been paying for your transfers?
I'm trying to figure out if there is anything I can prepare before coming to campus. Thanks everyone!
Accepted into the screenwriting program and in the process of looking for scholarships. Any direction is appreciated!
I have read that first-year students register in June during their advising appointment. Can anyone tell me the approximate week in June when this happens? Is it the first two weeks of June? Or, does this registration happen all throughout June? Trying to do some planning for summer.
I originally applied Early Action and test-optional but was deferred, so I switched to ED II and asked LMU to consider my test scores. My GPA is 3.755 unweighted and I have a 1380 SAT score. 3's in AP Japanese, Lang, US History, and Human Geo. I have a lot of pretty good extracurriculars in my opinion, and I got into IU Kelley. I know it's hard to get in after getting deferred, but I'm hoping switching to Early Decision II will help me. What are my chances, though?
Hi all! I'm a current high school senior applying to LMU for Marketing. If any marketing majors happen to see this: in your opinion, which is the best marketing pathway and why? Currently, I'm leaning towards M-School but it also seems to be the newest so I'm not sure if it can placed over those with more history.
I applied for the MA in creative writing for the fall of 2025. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the admissions process for masters programs at LMU. I am anxiously awaiting the universities decision and am curious if anyone knows when they usually start sending out emails regarding admission. Thank you!
What is the best freshman Dorm for next year?
Hello! I will contact the financial aid office to see if I am able to take out more money from my offered loan but I want to if anyone has done so in the past. I realized I have to take a summer course but hadn’t factored it in when I adjusted my loan amount. Do you think I would be able to ask lmu to take out additional money from my offered loan amount if I already accepted some of it? Thank you.
Are we seriously going LA right now? Fire Map shows the campus is basically encircled by fires north east and south. Parents - thoughts? There is a greater area burned than there is distance from campus at this point. Winds are down today - but Santa Ana winds will be back any day again. Weigh your decision out loud here, I’m conflicted and a few of us are in total denial.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen any media posts or emails sent out by the university with, at minimum thoughts and prayers, of how we can help our adversely affected Lions and greater Los Angeles community by these fires. So far all I've seen are thoughtful LinkedIn posts.
Anyone have any idea what LMU is doing in respect to picking up donations such as food / water / clothing / monetary donations / school supplies / etc?
Hey everyone! I hope everyone is safe right now. I am currently a first year student in Seaver, and I was looking into switching into CBA as an accounting major. I tried to contact CBA advising via email over the break to get some clarifications about the process, but I haven't received a response yet and the semester starts soon. I am aware that it may not be possible for me to switch my major for this upcoming semester therefore I am taking core requirements for the most part. Additionally, my advisor isn't much help either. I am aware of all the requirements for switching into CBA though. I took ap micro, macro, and calc BC exam and should get credits for them at LMU, and I have the appropriate gpa to transfer.
Would my ap credits count towards the requirements for transferring into CBA? Is anyone familiar with the process of switching majors especially into CBA? What is the process like, and is there anyone else that I should email? Lastly, is there any reason where I wouldn't be allowed to transfer into accounting?
Any insight and advice is appreciated. Thanks!
Hi everyone!
I’m a student from Connecticut considering transferring to LMU after three years at community college, where I’ve been saving up to pursue a finance degree. I’m particularly drawn to LMU’s entertainment finance program because it aligns with my goal of combining finance and entertainment into a meaningful career.
For those familiar with the program, I’d love to hear your thoughts:
While the program excites me, I’m mindful of the financial commitment and potential debt (though my savings will help). Do you think it’s worth it for someone with my aspirations, or should I consider sticking to a general finance degree as a backup plan?
I’d really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or insights about the program and how it’s shaped your career. Thanks so much!
