In Central European folklore, Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure described as "half-goat, half-demon", who, during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved. This contrasts with Saint Nicholas, who rewards the well-behaved with gifts. Krampus is one of the companions of Saint Nicholas in several regions including Austria, Bavaria, Croatia, Hungary, Northern Italy including South Tyrol and the Trentino, as well as the Czech Republic, and Slovenia.[2] The origin of the figure is unclear; some folklorists and anthropologists have postulated it as having pre-Christian origins.
In traditional parades and in such events as the Krampuslauf (English: Krampus run), young men dressed as Krampus participate. Such events occur annually in most Alpine towns.[3] Krampus is featured on holiday greeting cards called Krampuskarten.

Wondering if we can get a list going of events happening for Krampusnacht this December? From the weekend before the 5th to the weekend after (Nov 29 through Dec 8th). There are many people who want to go see a event, a parade, or just a small (public) gathering in their area. Be nice to have a listing. For this post, keeping it to just the United States.
I'm doing my first Christmas market tour this December and I'm spending 3 days in the Vienna Christmas markets. I collect masks when I travel and I think that the krampus masks are some of the coolest from all the places I've seen. Will it be possible for me to find any at the Christmas markets in Vienna and if so, what kind of prices should I expect? I'm hoping for under 300 euro
Everybody knows Santa has his nine reindeer to pull his sleigh, but what about Krampus? What animals pull his sleigh every Christmas Eve night? One could say goats, but they don't seem big enough or strong enough to pull a sleigh. Would probably be very skiddish around a demon guy that preys on naughty kids too.
I’m planning to travel to Munich/ Austria between November 28 and December 16 to capture some Krampus photos. Which Krampuslauf or Perchtenlauf events during these dates would you recommend as must-see?
We will be in Brno Czechia for the Janacek Music Festival and will have a "free" week between 26 Nov - 3 Dec. We plan to rent a car and visit some other Christmas markets (probably Ostrava Czechia and Bratislava Slovakia). We hope to see another Krampus parade (we attended the big one in Bad Goisern in 2018 and loved it).
I've been Googling for a calendar listing the various Krampus parades and locations but have had no luck. I hope someone in this group can help. Are there any Krampus parades within a reasonable drive of Brno, Ostrava, Bratislava, or Vienna during the dates we have free?
