I fly kites with special needs individuals (they love them) . I do it as an activity while I’m working, however, due to the amount of kites, I have different types of winders and spools to hold the line I’m looking to make things more simple. Is it OK? And are there any drawbacks to using an 80 or hundred pound line on a 50 pound diamond kite or Delta kite? I want to just have three or four spools that I can interchange between all the kites Instead of having to deal with 15 to 20 different spools of different strengths and reel type.
I have a kite that has tails/streamers that are quite long... maybe 30+ feet (I haven't measured them), and about 1.5" wide. If I don't store them properly they end up in a ball and tangled up. I'm trying to figure out a way to store them, and I'm wondering how you who have tails on your kites store them neatly so they don't become tangled.
I had my children at the park and this little girl was letting my children play with her kite. The thing is: there was no wind but it stayed up just by having them run around. It was hollow inside and that’s the only description I really have. I’m interested in buying a similar kite like this but have no idea what model/type it is. Can anyone please help me?
So I have a class project. In the project I have to make a kite out of materials I can buy. I have to make the kite to fly in low winds and the shortest part of the kite can be 1ft. I have a few ideas but any would be accepted.
I’m loving all the quad posts. I never owned one but have flown a couple about 20 years ago. Excellent stuff!
Anyone going?
Recently got this pull up glider for ground handling training. Getting comfortable alright.

Nothing chases away the winter blues like messing with kites. I was moving stuff around in storage and came across my kites.
I have had the large rainbow Delta and the "Dragon" kite with the lightning bolt for 35 years, the box kite always draws a crowd, the colourful one with a face came from a dollar store, I'm still working on the stunt kite...
I've flown them from beaches, mountains, and with my kids. So many great memories. It doesn't feel like -10 anymore...

Why is manja kite string called a silent threat in kite flying?
Hi all, first time here.
Edit: the consensus seems to be Gear Acquisition Syndrome which I’m fine with. Anybody else in NZ? Any recommendations?
I used to fly 2-line kites all the time and I’d like to get back into it, but I unpacked my kite and a some of it has degraded. The sail is mostly ok, and the graphite spars (it’s missing a couple) are still good. The issue is the surgical tubing holding the spars together has really degraded. Also the rigging probably needs to be redone.
The thing is, I have two very active young kids and re-rigging this kite seems like a lot. Should I cut my losses and get a new one?
For reference it’s called a “Wizard” if anyone remembers it from the 80’s. I can’t find a pic online. It was a high-performance kite, fast and made a cool buzzing sound in high wind.
I’m looking for a company that can make custom branded single line kites that I can just tie to my chair and let it fly high to promote my business. Does anyone have company that can do it?
Wife and I got two kites prism zenith 5. She likes it because it goes high and is easy. Lost my attention though. And a synapse 140. Did some research and others said get a size up for better strings. I can return this thing for up to a year (REI) I am wondering is it really worth it to upgrade? The 140 is hard to fly in low winds. I am hard pressed to find open areas around me. I saw the 200 can fly in 4-25 and am thinking of getting that. Depending on how interested I am I will eventually get more of a trick kite but for now this has been very fun
I recently posted about replacing lines on a 2.5m² power kite. Turns out the lines were fine. Although I do every now and again struggle with the left side of the kite. It tends to fold in. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi there! I am new to kites, can someone suggest a simple fighter kite design for me?
Edit:- I wanna make my own.
