Hey there folks. Apologies if this kind of post isn't allowed.

My dad used to fly kites quite a lot and take us to festivals as kids. Unfortunately I don't think he still has the kite he used to fly so I want to get him a new one. He claims it was a 'Chinese fighter kite' but I can't find much info about Chinese fighters online (lots from Japan, SE Asia, and the Middle East though). Anyway, I am wondering if you fine people can point me in a direction. I found this option but it looks pretty different from what I remember. His old one was not a perfect square and instead had a slightly stretched out diamond shape. Still, the goal is to get him a kite he can have fun with more than an exact replacement for his old kite. Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: He's not using it to cut anyone's lines, I believe he just likes the style of kite

Had a couple Rev's in the past, had so much fun with those kites. As I recall, last few times I tried to fly the current one, something was off, I tried best I could to ensure equal line trim it just wasn't controlling well enough to maintain flight. I eventually gave up and here we are 15 years later.

I'm torn on the idea of whether to go through the frustration of getting my old Rev back in tune or just get a new one and be flying immediately. Mine as I recall was higher in their lineup but I can't recall the model at the moment, EXP maybe?

What's happened with Rev kites over the last 15 years? Have there been any significant evolution in their kites in the interim?

Is there somewhere I could send my Rev? Just mulling my options here, thanks for any advice.

Title says it all. Looking for a kite for my toddler, but there aren’t any good kite stores in our area. Looking for a solid recommendation, nothing too fancy, maybe I can get it on Amazon (that pains me to say, but this is due to a lack of time on my end).

Yesterday that I had went to a small kite Fair that was held by the parking lot at a garden center in overland Park that I had took this dragon kite for a fly to honor my late Mom and was a small kite fair did not had really the big kites like the one in Lee's summit and still I had families with kids that were flying kites just like myself and I also had rain and the main reason is to fly this kite

I am quite new to this hobby and I am unsure on what stores are good to buy kites and kite accessories from. The only good brand I know of so far is Prism (I've recently purchased a Zenith 5 and I am loving it so far) but I know there has to be more good brands and stores than just Prism.

Another question I have is where can I buy more unique kites such as Trilobites or Flow tails. There does not seem to be many reputable stores in the US that sell them.

And for my last question, what are some good hoop spools or kite reels to get. The ones found on amazon look like they would not hold up well.

Apologies for the word dump but I am stumped on where to find some good gear and I can't seem to find any information online.

What's your go to for high winds?

I had a sudden inspiration to put Pikachu on a delta wing shaped kite. I'm always about maximizing, but now the tip of one ear and the tip of its tail sticks out of the shape on one side.

Is this problematic for a day in a park with the kids? I can scale Pikachu down so that it all fits within the triangle, but I wouldn't be happy, lol.

I bought this Dacron line a few years ago and haven't really been able to use. But I'm gifting this to a friend and was wondering which reel or winder would be best for this that would require 2 hands at all times on it. Any help is appreciated ☺️

I've got a fairly new KHK Skyscraper which I believe is a rebranded variant of a Premier Widow NG. In a month of flying it almost every day I've nearly worn a hole in the sale from the upper spreader rubbing on it. For some reason I've not been able to solve, the upper spreader is riding too low and missing the installed abrasion pad. The whole sail is sliding down leading edge a minute into flying. I've tried twisting the tensioner to try and tighten the sail at the tip and that doesn't fix it. I even tried tying the sale the joint between the upper spreader and leading edge and it still manages to slide down.

I totally love flying this kite and when it shifts like this it doesn't seem to impact the flying experience. The simplest solution seems to get a larger abrasion pad to stick on the sail before I have a large hole there. Any ideas where to source this?
