I want to go back and play King’s Field games. I have a MacBook and am extremely lazy. If you connect a controller to the MacBook with Bluetooth and use AirPlay to stream it to your tv, are there any lag issues (latency, I think the term is)?
I don’t want to go through the 3+ steps to attempt it only to find out there’s a .5 second delay, making the game unplayable.
How do you like it? Does it still fit with the dark fantasy atmosphere of King's Field in your eyes?
(The old one is on top and the new one is on the bottom. )
For people interested in playing the game there is 5h long demo on Steam:

Several years ago, I streamed the King's Field series on Twitch, and remapped the controls to something more modern, and I figured I'd share it here. I used Retroarch's Beetle PSX HW core, but I figure any core should work the same.
To remap controls, hit F1 while in game to bring up the overlay menu, then navigate down to Controls, and finally go to Pad #1 bindings. Make sure the controller type is set to Playstation Controller, and then meander down to the analog sticks, remap them and the shoulders as follows:
Command - Old Button - New Button
KF1-2-3
Move Forward - D-Pad Up - L-Analog Up
Move Backward - D-Pad Down - L-Analog Down
Strafe Left - L1 - L-Analog Left
Strafe Right - R1 - L-Analog Right
Look Up - L2 - R-Analog Up
Look Down - R2 - R-Analog Down
Turn Left - D-Pad Left - R-Analog Left
Turn Right - D-Pad Right - R-Analog Right
(KF1 Only)
Attack - Triangle - R2
Magic - Square - R1
Interact/Run - Circle - L2/L1 (Either/Or)
Menu - Cross - L2/L1 (Either/Or)
(KF2-3)
Attack - Square - R2
Magic - Triangle - R1
Interact/Run - Cross - L2/L1 (Either/Or)
Menu - Circle - L2/L1 (Either/Or)
Keep in mind that you have to set the analogs and shoulders on a Playstation Controller layout, and not the d-pad or face buttons, or a dual-shock layout, otherwise this will not work (I had to learn that the hard way). The plus side is that when doing this, you can still use the D-Pad and face buttons for their original functions, which is great for navigating the games' UI.
Best part about this layout is that you can use the exact same controls for the Armored Core games and it'll still feel natural.
Been a fromsoft fan for many years and it's finally time to go on this journey aswell.
Received it in the mail today!
Wish me luck 🙏
Especially the first few games how the music was done? Thanks!
Greetings!
First time playing King's Field II (the first one release in the West) and I'm suffering constant HP loss. I don't believe I'm wearing cursed gear. Does the Skull Shield can drain HP from the inventory?
There is a screen of my gears (forgive the unholy baguette language)
Unrelated, but it's insane how the game is fun. I never thought I would enjoy this much a game released before my birth. Even DOOM did not involve me THIS much
Who do I contact to express my (probably futile) interest in getting kings field games, or any of from softwares older titles, re released on PlayStation or steam?
For the longest time I'd really wanted to play them again. Normally I hate buying digital games but I'd gladly buy these if I could play them on my PS4/PS5 or steam. It's a shame they are sitting stagnant, like a lot of games.
Everytime I try and contact from software or bandai since they publish a lot of their games I run into dead ends. Seems hard to contact them.
Thanks.
Hey guys, I was planning on picking up a PlayStation Classic and modding it with project eris. I'd like to install the entire verdite trilogy along with ST to the PS classic and was wondering if anyone has done the same with good results using eris. I've emulated all the games and even own physical copies of KF2 (US) and KF4. I'm really just looking for a good emulation device to keep hooked up to my tv, and of course some fromsoft classics need to be on it. There's a nice compatibly spreadsheet I found with a quick google search but of course these games are untested. I feel like project eris will probably have no issues running these games, but I figured I'd ask before pulling the trigger. I believe this mod uses the PCSX ReARMed emulator.
So, has anyone here given this a try? If so how does it compare to original hardware or emulation on PC with duckstation, etc? Thanks!

For the past month, I've been working on a tool for Sword of Moonlight: King's Field Making Tool. It started out as a mouse injector but it evolved into a broader tool. It works with every legacy Sword of Moonlight game, meaning titles like the King's Field Remake, Diadem of Maunstraut, Heir of Granatyki, Moratheia and more. However, SOMEX games are not supported. Unfortunately, it also doesn't work with the SOM editor's Test Map feature. I may come back to add more features and bugs eventually but for now, this is the finished product.
Features:
Real Mouselook
Modern Keybindings (AKA, WASD movement, left/right click melee/magic, E to activate) HUD Toggles
Configurable Gamespeed
Configurable FOV
Disabling the Inactive Window Pause
Enable/Disable Sprinting, Saving Anywhere and Equipment Weight
All features are configurable and can be turned off or on by the user.
Known Issues:
FOV resets when dying, loading a save or loading a savefile. You can reset it by alt tabbing a few times.
Custom keybindings overlap with the game's original keybindings.
The camera position is only stored in Heir of Granatyki.
Gameplay Speed alters the speed of menus.
Instructions:
Extract all included files to the folder with the game's executable. For example, this might be C:\Games\KING'S FIELD. You can open config.txt and configure the file to your liking.
Uninstallation:
Remove dinput.dll, config.txt and SOMLI.dll from your game directory.

I've been interested in trying King's Field, but since the series is pretty old and first one came out before we even got analog sticks, I'm sure with what game I should start.
I also don't know what emulator would be the best for it since I'm not very experienced with PS1 emulation and I've heard emulating the game can be painful. So I would be greatful for sugestions and maybe some key bindings for smoother experience.
EDIT: Thanks for all suggestions, I've started with KF1 and remapped controls so it's less "pre-analog sticks", especially the camera controls. I don't play many 3d games with a controller it still feels very awkward. I've also tried using a mouse injector but it just feels wrong, the fast and fluid turning makes the game feel incredibly easy since you can easily run circles around the enemies
I still can see Ancient city in my dreams. Like I wasn't just playing a game, but was there myself. Never any game made me feel this way. This was peak. All this 5 years I can't stop thinking about this game.
I beat kf3 and after playing Pilot style I was extra invested in Silviera. I found a lot of people saying he passed through different areas or headed into such and such, but never found him or a body or anything. What became of our dear commander?
I tried Vimm but only see 3 versions of the first game. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hi! SaikingS here with an announcement that the day finally come!
Now you all can try the first 4-5 hours of Verho for free on Steam.
I know a lot of people here were waiting for that so I hope you will enjoy it! :D

Is there a known way to play these on either of the official Sony handhelds?
Hey everyone, Im trying to improve my Japanese and one of the games I wanted to play was Kings Field 1 in Japanese instead of using an english patch. I was curious about if theres anything I could get really stuck on If I didnt have a strong grasp of japanese? For example are there puzzles I could get stuck on maybe? I'll be trying my best to translate everything but I just wanted to check this before hand.
I also want to go as blind as possible into this series so if anyone does have any responses, try to keep them as vague as possible. Many thanks
I don’t have a PS1 or 2
Monomyth, a first person 3D dungeon crawler heavily influenced by King's Field, just shadow-announced early access starts -- today!
Has anyone played it yet? I won't be able to check it out for like 10 hours.
Edit: Just played it. It's so amazing. Very refreshing after a disappointing launch for another early access game that came out today.
Hi. I would like to play through a King's Field game.
Just one of them. (they are pretty expensive you know.)
Trying to find out about them myself would likely result in having the plots spoiled so I'd like to know what people would regard as the "Quintessential King's Field game".
Thank You.
i have a second earth crystal. when i use it, i don't seem to learn any new spells. it doesn't seem to modify my existing "earth heal" spell either. should i just sell it?
I recently finished my first playthrough of Dark Souls 2 and my god the game gave me so many examples of being similar to King's Field. Heres my list:
Moonlight Sword(of course its in almost every game theyve made) Living Stone Statues Hidden doors only opened by spamming X on a wall that looks suspicious The hidden doors open like they do in KF2 Petrified enemies and NPCs you need an item to cure The Fragrant Branch of Yore(for depetrifying) The King's Ring and King's Doors Giants and Golems Crestfallen Saulden(of course theres always a crestfallen guy in the SoulsBorneSekiroRing games)
If i missed anything let me know!
Hi! I know many people didn't like that previously I was using AI voices for the game, but today I'm happy to announce that with the help of people from Reddit, we were able to get rid of all AI voices and replace them with great actors performance!
You can check how it worked out here!

Hey! I am writing a script for a panel at a local con I enjoy but I am struggling to find any interviews that cover King's Field the Ancient City's devolvement. Figured I would reach out here and ask. Thank you!
