I’ll be in Kaohsiung for just over a month and want to find a good Mandarin language school. Ideally, I’d like a program that’s immersive, engaging, and has flexible enrollment options since I won’t be staying long-term. Has anyone taken classes in Kaohsiung and can recommend a good school? Bonus points if they have small class sizes or good conversation practice!
Thanks
Hi everyone,
I’ll be in Kaohsiung for a month and I’m thinking about renting a scooter during my stay. Does anyone have experience with long-term scooter rentals in the area? I’m looking for recommendations on where to rent from, any pricing info, and any tips on what to watch out for.
Thanks in advance!
Hey guys. Just wanna ask for some valentine’s dinner recommendations. I’m looking into local taiwanese cuisine. If you have any recommended course meal or hotpot restaurants, i would love to hear about them. Thank you in advance!
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to get an alcohol license in Taiwan for my up and coming bar and was wondering if there are any services or agencies that can help with the process. I’d prefer to avoid unnecessary bureaucracy and make sure everything is done correctly.
Has anyone here gone through the process or used a service to handle it? Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone!
I’m a foreigner planning to open an arcade-themed bar in Kaohsiung and need some help finding reliable builders or designers for:
If you’ve worked with any local teams or know anyone who specializes in bar/restaurant designs, especially with creative or unique themes, I’d love your recommendations!
Thanks in advance for your help - any tips, advice, or contacts are super appreciated! 🎮🍹
Hello! I’ll be moving to Kaohsiung in December with a 4 month old. Does anyone have any good Kaohsiung daycare recommendations? 👶🏻 To give some background I’m a British expat who can get by kind of with my Chinese 😁
Hi everyone! I’ll be visiting Kaohsiung for six days soon, and I’m looking for recommendations on how to make the most out of my time there. I’d love to experience a mix of local culture, nature, food, and must-see attractions.
Any suggestions for things to do, places to eat, or hidden gems in the area? Also, any tips on transportation or day trips from Kaohsiung would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Helping a friend: good day everyone! Does anyone know a nice place to stay in Kaohsiung ? My friend and his girlfriend is planning to go there around the last week of Feb this year. They are having a hard time finding one on Airbnb. Any recommended platforms to book a stay? And is there a tourist spot outside Kaohsiung that can be taken by a day trip ? Please let me know. Thank you in advance!
I have been remotely working with a small team of employees in Kaohsiung for about 5 years (I live in New York City) and really have enjoyed this time working with them. I have been asked to take a promotion moving me away from this team and am looking for gift to say thank you as I am moving on. For context: This team technically reports to me but has been a great collaboration. We work in a corporate setting.
Does anyone have ideas or even specific business recommendations I could use for a going away gift to them? Perhaps gift cards to some nice local restaurants or local gift basket companies. I want the gift to be nice, perhaps $100 USD per person. Not a gift to fill any corporate obligation but a sincere thank you.
A short video I shot when I visited Kaohsiung recently for the Funon Marathon. People of Taiwan have always been very kind and generous and this is my way of thanking everyone for their hospitality 🙏🏻
Hello! We'll be travelling to Taiwan in a couple of months and would like insights about our itinerary. Planning to go to Kaohsiung and threw Taipei and Northcoast in the mix
Day 1 (Arrival to KSH at 7 pm)
Day 2 (Taipei)
Day 3
Day 4
Day 5 (North Coast)
Day 6 (Kaohsiung)
Because 2/28 is a national holiday, I was wondering if all the museums, tourist attractions, and public transport would be functioning. Moreover, will restaurants be open?
Somewhat related but do you know if Kaoshuing national park will be open as normal on that day?
I will be in the city for 3 months, anybody has some recommendations?
Hello,
Any tips on where to get pokemon cards in Kaohsiung? Preferably Japanese or English. Not single cards but unopened packs :)
Hi, first time visiting Kaohsiung, would love to know where are the cool photo spots. Can be both cityscape and nature. Thanks!
I'm on a family holiday in KH and also visiting my college kid here. I'm completely blown away! This city feels incredibly homey to me (somehow reminds me of a toned down version of Seoul and Tokyo with super nice population). I've instantly fallen in love and can easily see myself retiring here in the future. Kaohsiung has a wonderful blend of modern and traditional. I can feel the old-world charm in the west/coast side, while the city also boasts a contemporary feel. The streets are bustling with life, but without the overwhelming traffic of some other cities. Coming from another Asian city, I find that food prices here are reasonably affordable. This makes dining out and enjoying the local cuisine/snacks a very enjoyable experience.
I'm a university student who just moved here and I was thinking of getting a small foldable e-bike, the kind you can bring on buses and MRTs. Online it says all E-bikes in Taiwan need license but people I've asked in bike shops and my school say it's not required.
I'm also looking for a seller, my budget is under 20k. Second-hand and modified ones are fine.
I lived in Kaoshiung for a few years, 5 years ago and I'm moving back in January. I'm simply looking for a few good friends/ communities. FYI I'm a man in my 30's, and into business, sports, arts, nature, festivals/ parties.. lots of things. 😆 drop me a msg if wanna connect.
Hi everyone!
My name is David, from Spain, and I'll be travelling to Taiwan next week with my wife (both on our 40s). We are staying on the 31st in Kaohsiung, so we are wondering what are the options for celebratin NYE there: What are the times for dinner? Any special and/or typical dish for this day? What are the options for party and going out? Until what time do people go out?... We saw some parties in hotels like Marriott, but we'd be looking for something more "local".
Thank you so much in advance for any tips you could provide! :)
As an alternative, what are the underrated tourist spots in the city? Will visit there in January. Thank you.
Any opinions on kmu ? I am planning to join there for a project
Can anyone recommend places for traditional Christmas dinner in Kaohsiung for Christmas Eve? Thank you! 🧑🎄 🎄
Context I attended a university in this city and have to live here for 3 months is there a recommendation for a nightlife Thank!
Hi guys! I have been visiting Taiwan quite a lot recently and am looking for a hairdresser that can do my hair
大家好,
I'm going to be studying at National Sun Yat-Sen University starting in September, and I would love some recommendations on good neighborhoods to live in Kaohsiung.
I'm looking for a neighborhood that is convenient for commuting to the university but also nice to live in, with amenities like cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. Additionally, since I'm new to the area, it would be helpful to know which neighborhoods are safe and welcoming for foreigners.
I've tried searching for apartments online, but most sites (like 591) are in Chinese, and although I'm learning Chinese, I'm not yet comfortable navigating these sites without help. Another challenge is that many websites require a Taiwanese phone number for contact, and some landlords don't use Line, which makes communication difficult for me. If you know of any English-language sites or real estate agents who speak English and can help foreign students find housing, that would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance for your advice and recommendations ^^
