Hi there, I'm having a road trip around central and southeast US during Christmas vacation, Kansas included. But I haven't got much knowledge about Kansas. I wonder what places are worth a stop and visit? What to pay attention to? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
Today's ride had some good clouds. Go outside and see for yourself.
Wife and I both recently lost our jobs. We've been trying to apply for unemployment benefits. Fortunately I've been able to at least submit my claim, but my wife is struggling to the extreme. The website canceled her attempts to submit due to a small typo and told her to call an assistance number which continually hangs up on her. When I look online I see this is quite common. A lot of people in Kansas seem to be dealing with these same issues. Has anyone else ever had to deal with this? If so is there any advice on how to proceed. Obviously we'd like to get jobs again as soon as possible, but this could be a lifesaver in the meantime.
Sorry no bike, got to get kids off to school first.
I filmed this nice buck recently during RUT!
Feeling a little fenced out of this beautiful native prarie. But I respect your privacy of property. I'll ask for permission next time I ride past house .5 mi over hill or 5.5mi by road.
So Senate bill 160 requires age verification on pornography sites which I think is a good thing. My question is why isn’t X (formerly twitter) included in this? There is more pornography on X than on any porn site. How do we make this a thing?
As late as the 1970s Kansas issued card stock (not plastic or laminated) driver's licenses without photos. Teens could readily alter the DOB to be able to get into bars or buy liquor before they turned 21.
This track is probably one of the most fun experiences in Kansas, despite the stereotype of NASCAR. The people who go to see the races are friendly, the amenities are stellar, the on track action is the best of any track in NASCAR, It is the best place to go to for a good race in Kansas.
ETA: I just want to say how amazing and nice everyone is being. I’ve lived all over and can truly say that midwestern people are the nicest. I was so worried I’d be blamed for my car, or talked down to because of my inexperience, but I’ve gotten nothing but such nice comments full of actual supportive information. I appreciate you all more than you can know!
Hi,
So I (31f) was born in eastern Kansas, but left the state at 12 so I never learned to drive in this weather. I’ve lived all over the country, but once I came of age to drive I lived in Southern California and then Australia and then Houston, TX so I have never driven in snow. I did a small test drive today but the roads were already plowed. I also drive a Camaro and it’s my only way of transportation. I live in Topeka but work in Lawrence so I take the tolls to get there. Here are some questions for y’all:
We are in our early 30s with 4 kids. Looking to move to the area. We’ve searched everywhere in the area and finally found a house in Elkhart that would fit our family. But I know nothing about the town. Is this a good safe town to raise kids in? Anything I should know?

How would one go about selling 133 acres in Kansas? Should I get a realtor, or is there a website I can list it?
Howdy y'all, it's that time of year when I have to plan the budget for the next year. Today I'm thinking about my home warranty.
Currently, I'm using Old Home Republic. They run at about 60/mo with a $5 "convenience" fee, or I can pay a one time annual for $650. The tradesman cost is $110 per visit, which is an increase from the $75 when I first bought my house in 2020.
Has anyone used First American for their home warranty? How are your monthly fees and repair costs? Do you have any other home warranty companies you recommend?
There's the option of not renewing our home warranty, but I'm against this mostly because we have a 23 year old air conditioning unit and the warranty is cheaper than a new ac unit, lol.
I took this just off the US 75 highway bridge.
