I'm in Leavenworth and I usually pick up KCPT on antenna. Right now, I'm not. Anybody have any info?
Real challenge to get the kids and wife to line out the bikes.
Did a slightly stupid thing and bought a used car with an out of state title on a private sale. The seller gave me the title and signed it over to me but did not give me any sort of Bill of Sale showing how much I paid him. I have to go register the thing here in the next few days and I'm at a loss for how I'm going to go about this, I've never bought a vehicle without a Kansas title before. What do I need to do so that I can title it with a Kansas title in my name?
I did a silly thing and got a speeding ticket for 13 over. I am looking into getting a diversion for it and it’ll cost over $600. My question is if I do the diversion, will my insurance see the ticket and still raise rates? If they don’t, then it makes sense to do the diversion but I’m not going to spend the money if my rates will be raised anyways. Thanks for any input!
Hey Team, good afternoon.
I just moved back to the states a week ago. Since I currently don’t have a job I figured I’d start on some yard work for my mom and take advantage of the nice September weather we have.
Well I walked the property and I’ve come across countless winter berry bushes. If I had to guess, I’d say there’s at least 30 here. My inclination is cut them out at the root and revisit them next year to try killing them off completely. We have a brush pile that we used to (meaning it stopped happening once I moved out of the US) burn annually. I’d like to cut them all out and put them in the burn pile - but I’m the acting of cutting and moving the bushes is going to drop berries all over the place. And then next year when I revisit the project I’ll have 60-70 of the damn things instead of what I have now.
How would recommend I get rid of them? And are they safe to burn?
Photo included in case I’m Mis-identifying the species.
....by getting rid of this absolute ass clown that makes our state look like a circus side show
For God's sake I can even deal with another Jerry Moran if I have to, but I can't take another 6 years of Marshall
I finished paying off my car loan, I bring in my lien release form correct? Also, would a copy of the form work or does it have to be an original form. Do I have to bring anything else with me?
Hey everyone. I just moved from Missouri to the Kansas side this year. I was curious if I were to sell my current car private party (to get the most value out of it), can I use the sales tax credit to purchase a car in Kansas? **EDIT** My car is still registered in Missouri with a Missouri title)
After visiting two dealers yesterday, they both told me that sales tax is due upon vehicle purchase at their dealership and if I didn't trade my car in, there wouldn't be a sales tax credit. I understand in Missouri, we have always had the sales tax credit, but is this really the case in Kansas?
I have a couple of scenarios I would like to present to you if you could assist me in getting these answered:
Scenario 1: Sell car private party. Buy a car at a Kansas dealership (pay tax up front), can I receive a credit back from the DMV from my private party sale?
Scenario 2: Sell car private party. Buy a car on the Missouri side. Since Missouri won't collect any tax, can I then use my private party sale as a tax credit towards the Missouri car purchase while at the Kansas DMV?
Thank you!
Ok, I am so confused and frustrated! Our work truck broke down, we bought another one from another state (MO) 15 miles away. I need to use the truck NOW . I cannot get a vin inspection appointment (required it's high volume busy) almost a week! cannot get a temporary tag appointment until 10/24 . I can't even get into line online queue to dmv at either of the offices Mission or Olathe they are completely full started trying 9am which i need to get a 1 day tag to get the vehicle inspected , Then i have to GO BACK to DMV to actualy get permanent tags , registration, and plates.... twice (?). My question is this: We have 30 days to title the new truck in Our name. I do have the signed over to me title (from MO) I just can't get in anywhere to get inspected or registered for over a week. Can I take the plates off my old truck , and put them on my new (er) truck and drive it like that temporarily until I can get it registered legally? I don't want to get ticketed but DAMN! It is so HARD to getting in to have it inspected and tagged in JOCO. I have already added the truck to my insurance policy (full coverage even) I just need to work or i wont have the money to PAY the 1 000 plus sales tax, registration fee , convenience fee and whatever else they decide to charge me. Jeez! .
Looking to dye my hair blue, but don’t know where to go. :p
My wife had a suicide attempt a few months ago that the state is trying to claim was domestic violence because she bit me while I was literally saving her life. Now I'm the victim in this case and our whole family is displaced and they even took her to jail but we made bail. I need this dropped so I can go home and take care of her. She has MS that is slowly progressing. I have a 1969 VW Karmann Ghia that's worth between 2-5k in its current condition. I was planning on selling it anyway but it's a whole process and I'm scared and need help now. It's the only thing of worth I own because we are barely scraping by to begin with. Please if anyone is a Kansas lawyer or knows one this is my only shot.
My husband and I are going on our honeymoon to Colorado, and we are currently making our way through Kansas. We are on I-70W west of Topeka and driving by a lot of cows and prairies.
My husband and I were curious of there were any local used words for this stretch of Kansas: ex. You're on the phone with someone and saying "Oh, I'm driving through "_____" right now, be there in an hour."
We were just curious!
(My husband is a born Missourian and I'm from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and now live in Missouri. Loving the prairies and cows! ♥️)

Tenants at Independence Towers and Quality Hill Towers in Kansas City have initiated a rent strike, demanding safer living conditions. Residents, who pay around $830 in rent, have reported enduring dangerous conditions for years. They have informed the Federal Housing Finance Authority and lending company Fannie Mae that they will stop paying rent if safety demands were not met by October 1. At Quality Hill Towers, where 140 residents announced what they say is Kansas City’s largest building union earlier this month, tenants also decided to join the strike. In KCMO tenants are guaranteed free legal representation in eviction cases.
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Kansas Corporation Commission approved a settlement agreement on Thursday that will increase the monthly cost for residential users of Kansas Gas Service.
Under the settlement, a $58.1 million net revenue increase originally requested by KGS was reduced to $35 million. Customers with average usage will see a bill increase of approximately $3.83 per month or $46.02 per year.
The new rates will take effect on Nov. 1.
In testimony filed in support of the settlement approved Thursday, KCC staff stated that the agreed upon revenue increase strikes the proper balance between KGS’ desire for reasonable assurances that it will meet its financial obligations and the need to keep rates as low as possible for customers.

Hello. I'm new to the Manhattan area and I am wanting to get a motorcycle license. I currently have an out of state license. Does anyone know if I can get a Kansas license with a motorcycle endorsement at the same time or if I have to get a normal Kansas license first? Also, does anyone know a good, well priced, motorcycle safety course in the Manhattan area that helps with licensing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Who could have guessed installing a Koch stooge as President then starving the beast would lead to declining enrollment? Down 22.5% over the last 5 years. Every other Kansas school saw an increase of students this year with Emporia the only school seeing a decrease.
Could someone please point me in the direction of this ‘Kansas’ landscape
With Halloween approaching, I'd share a project I've been working on for a few years, recording the locations of horror movies around the country and the world.
I am a big fan of horror and am a weird pedantic person who likes to make lists, and while people on r/horror don't seem to be as interested in this, I figured the state subreddits might. Especially if any y'all are looking for new movies to watch this month. You can check out my raw data here, or check out a more visually pleasing Letterbox list I made of Kansas's horror movies here.
Now to be clear about my methodology in how I organize these movies. These are organized by where they are SET not necessarily by where they are SHOT. Example: Most of the Friday the 13th movies are not shot in NJ, but they are all classified as set in NJ because in-universe that is where they take place. In cases where the setting of the film is not outright stated, I used context clues such as license plates, driver's licenses, newspapers, references to cities, and so on. While I did take into account where the movie was filmed, I tried not to use that as definitive evidence (there is a reason why the tropes California Doubling and the Mountains of Illinois exist).
I go into more of the breakdown of movies in this post on r/horror if you are interested.
I have recorded 15 horror movies set in Kansas, placing the state at #29 in state rankings; in a 4-way tie with Alabama, Arkansas, and South Carolina.
According to IMDB, this makes the top 10 Kansas horror movies:
I hope you like this, and if you have any more suggestions or corrections you want me to make, please comment. You can also look at the lists for other states and countries here.
I bought a car off of Facebook marketplace. The guy I bought it from said in Kansas you only have to sign the title and youre done. But I've seen online I need to take it to a treasurer. It's also really hard for me to do research as I dropped my phone and half my screen is leaking black from my LCD. Any straightforward help would be appreciated as I'm fairly young and don't have anyone I could ask about this. Thank you!
