Kaizers were on fire in Los Angeles last night at the El Rey theater! Fun story: as we waited in the venue for the show to starry, young guy, Philip, asks my husband and me how much tickets were. Hmm. Turns out, he had been on Hollywood Blvd’s walk of fame earlier in the day when he saw a group of “dapper”men checking out the stars. Yes, it was the Kaizers. Janove did the talking 😉. And he gave Philip a ticket to the show.
“Where is the band from again?” “Norway,” we said. “Are you Norwegian?” “Nope.” “So how do you know about these guys?” [insert your origin story here]
So the band comes on, and I think Philip was blown away! (I was, and I knew what to expect). And then, Janove called out to him from the stage: “You made it!”
Such a great band, such great people!

I discovered Kaizers a couple years before I moved to Norway (as part of me getting more into Norwegian stuff pre-move), and RIGHT after they announced the hiatus. Didn’t get tickets to their 2023 concerts, or Slottsfjell this year, figured my chances were shot. The text for presale came in when I was at work and there was some rapid-fire coordination with a friend, and here I am with 2 tickets for next year!! Been waiting for 10 years, what’s a few more months?
I was at the Minneapolis show last night (fucking amazing) and it seems like practically everyone could speak Norwegian, which was super cool. Seemed like there were a lot of people singing along with the lyrics, conversing in Norwegian, and we even ended the night with a chant of “én sang til” instead of “encore.”
As a Norwegian-speaking Minnesotan myself, I was shocked to see this (and I can’t believe how packed it was). I bet there were a number of people that traveled pretty far, but still, impressive. I’m curious about other shows in the US — any estimates on what the makeup of Norwegians to non-Norwegians there were?
I’m still in disbelief that last night actually happened. Such an amazing time. Setlist was the same as Boston (and I assume NY and DC) which was awesome cuz I’ve been listening to a playlist of those songs the past couple weeks. Got two shirts and the vinyl at the merch booth - figured it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so I should splurge… until they said they’d be back next October! Really hope they hit Minneapolis on the next tour again.
I think it’s a lot of fun. Very anthemic. Wonder if they’ll play it this weekend…
I still can’t believe this is happening. Been a fan for over 20 years and I NEVER thought I’d see them live!
Hi,
So Kaizers keep promoting the titkf.no website ("This Is The Kaizers Family") on their Instagram, hinting that something will be happening on Friday. I wanted to sign up, but it's only in Norwegian, asks for my phone number and presumably address...? (the translations just say "post office", so idek what I'm supposed to write there; not to mention I don't really want to share my phone number and get notifications by SMS...), and the attached link to their privacy policy leads nowhere... It's all very strange (feels sort of sketchy tbh..). What do you guys think, what's your experience? Or is there another website to sign up for a newsletter? I'm a new-ish fan and am just a bit confused about all this.
Thanks.
Edit: Thanks to everyone who helped. A follow-up question: is there a difference between titkf.no and thekaizerfamily.com when it comes to content? They only have thekaizerfamily in their insta bio, but they only keep promoting titkf.no in their posts and stories these days. What's the difference in effect? Any ideas?
Janove’s official playlist of the music played prior to them going out on stage.
Not included is the song they walk out to, which is “Russian Dance” by Tom Waits off of The Black Rider.

As a huge fan of Kaizers Orchestra, I’m disappointed that I can’t experience them live in person. Unfortunately, they’re not playing anywhere close to me—the closest is Los Angeles, and I’m in San Francisco. I just hope everyone going has an amazing time, and I’d love it if you could upload photos and videos!
So, who's excited for their first ever US tour, and who's going?
I discovered Kaizers a few months ago in June, and in that time I've become obsessed with them and found out they're finally back after 10 years and doing their first ever US tour and one of those dates is in my state. I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten into them at such an opportune time, and I kinda feel bad for those who have waited over a decade for this moment, but hey, it's finally here! It must be a crazy feeling for longtime American fans. I'm seeing them tomorrow in Cambridge. You all excited?! I know I am :)
I wonder what the setlists will be and all that.. I've noticed they switch them up once each leg of a tour since they came back in 2023. Obviously all the big staples will remain, but I wonder if they'll pull out any deep cuts for the loyal patient American fans, or maybe play it even more safe with surefire crowd pleasers, hmmm. I'll find out tomorrow !
Hei.
For the US fans:
Two Norwegians traveling from Norway on Wednesday to see Kaizers in Boston and in NYC. Looking forward to experiencing the US fans and, for my part, seeing Kaizers on foreign soil for the first time.
Admin må bare fjerne dette om det ikke hører hjemme her. Men jeg selger min violeta violeta box set. Kun 1000 laget å jeg har nr 463. Søk opp 370786822 på finn.no
Obviously happy with them being back, but what do you guys think about the comeback so far? The announcement was typical Kaizers with fan involvement, and I'am happy for the fans who got the music box and glad they shared with everyone. Then the video with Dine Gamle Dager Er Nå was fucking magical!mI got to see them live and was defenitely reminded how fun their act was.
However. I'm dissappointed that they haven't released more than two songs. So far it is all about exploitng the fact that they're back. Comeback club tour, comeback festival tour, comeback european and american tour. It's been two years since they announced being back and we have two very mediocre songs, and no talks of an album.
Who's the deeper rougher voice in Du Og Meg, Lou? His voice is really striking
Hey all. I've just been trying to follow the lyrics here (I've tried other sites but they seem the same) but just got totally lost.
Is this missing the words to the 'shouty bit'? It seems to me its missing the lyrics between the first chorus and "Hold fast mi hånd far, ta ett skritt om gongen".
It's entirely possible I'm just totally misreading it (as you can probably tell I don't speak Norwegian!).
Cheers! And if it is missing, if anyone could help with the words that would be fab. :)
