I just learned today about Kagney's passing. I was shocked. I still am. So with a heavy heart, I went back to my high school hard drive to find some pictures I had saved of her and among some of the best photoshoots she ever did, I also found these low res photos from 2013.

And then I remembered why I used to watch Kagney so much. Sure, she was one of the best performers in the industry and her unique beauty was only matched by her natural charisma. But above all else, she seemed to me like a genuinely nice and kind person. Of course, I have no idea what she was like irl, but just for a brief moment in these old pictures, I think I can see the real Kagney.

As I got older, I didn't consume porn as much and I stopped following pornstars altogether, but I would often look them up every now and then for old times sake. Last time I googled Kagney was pre covd, probably 2019, when she was doing OF and had opened her pole dance studio. I followed her OF for a couple of months, but then she fell off my radar entirely until today. I logged into OF out of curiosity and found out her account was deactivated, although she still messaged her followers until 2020. Those were almost daily messages promoting content she was selling. But the last couple ones were different, giving away content for free and asking questions, almost as if she expected a reply or something. A reply that of course, never came. Followed by complete radio silence.

So of course I googled her once again and found out the horrible truth. Those final messages got a new meaning now, providing evidence of the slow decline of her OF and a last ditch effort to make it work. Unfortunately, it was just not meant to be.

Kagney probably never knew just how many lives she touched and how appreciated she was. If she knew, she would still be with us. That's the tragic nature of this god forsaken industry. In the end, it's like a small part of my own personal history is gone and although she will always be remembered for her amazing performances, her sexy body and her savage sexual energy, this is how I personally will always remember her. Smiling that gorgeous smile of hers. Forever young. Forever beautiful.
