The Park is Open

I'm the new mod of this subreddit. I have no idea what happened with the project, or the developer. A few years ago everything vanished into thin air, and we were left with a lot of unanswered questions. I've opened this subreddit to hopefully find some closure. Like you, I had greatly looked forward to this project.

Now, let's get busy investigating!

Why... why... just WHY?

I’m really sad about this being abandoned... 3 years ago... i was really hyped about this! But then the dev stopped posting things... and deleted his account. I just want to ask you why you abandoned it? If you’re seeing this please answer 😓

'Jurassic Explorer', a spiritual successer to the unreleased JP : Aftermath

As you've read from the title, i'm currently well into development of my game "Jurassic Explorer". When i first saw Jurassic Park Aftermath i was blown away and much like most people i was terribly saddened to hear it would never see the light of day again.

Over the past half year i'v been developing a new game called Jurassic Explorer. Just as the title suggests, its in some ways a spiritual successor to JP Aftermath. Just like JP Aftermath its kind of hard to define it as a "Game", hence "Explorer" in the title. You'll be able to fully explore the entire Park area of Jurassic World and enter certain attractions and buildings. Its all about feeling like you're really there at the Park, exploring it and seeing things we didn't fully see in the movie. More details will come out closer to launch in January 2017 but i think you guys will really like what we've got here.

Please check out the few screenshots we've posted online and follow our Twitter or Facebook pages to stay up to date on progress. We really want to give JP Aftermath its justice and capture that same spirit found in his videos. Spread the word because this is a single man project and the more support the better. Thank you!

Can we crowdsource a recreation?

I'm so bummed that the project was abandoned by its creator, but there's potential for fans to pull together and create something similar ourselves. Aftermath was being worked on by one guy with no budget. There are over 800 users subscribed to this sub. Surely we can find a small team of fans who collectively possess the skills needed to make a working version.

What do you think?

If the project is dead, can everything that has been finished up to this point be released?

I'm not taking a stab at the developer when I say this, he seems like a cool guy and has done magnificent work on this project. But if a project is no longer being continued, it angers me when NOTHING is released to the public. Progress has clearly been made and is obviously playable, yet the developer releases nothing of what he's hyped up. I think that releasing it to the public could

1.) Be fun to play what's already been made

2.) Let the community finish it themselves

I mean, there's 900 people here (not counting the non-reddit users) that want to play this in some form, whether it be unfinished or not. I mean, it may not be dead and I'm just getting worried. But with no updates and the creator deleting his account, I think i'm safe in my assumptions. If the creator ever sees this post, I'd just like to first of all say thank you for going to all this trouble to make a free game for everyone, and secondly that it would be nice for everyone to appreciate what you've made by releasing what you already have done to us. We want to enjoy your creation, and it'd be a shame for all of it to go to waste. Thank you for reading this, I wrote a hell of a lot :3

Haven't forgot about you

Just popping in to say we haven't forgotten about you and we know you're busy. We are proud of you and we'll keep waiting anxiously, even if it takes 65 million years. Keep up the good work.

Since this won't be a game, but like a tech demo/prototype...

... will people be able to mod it? This way you could provide more or less with a "base model" to the modding community to use to make different experiences for the community.

Examples:

  1. Survival island style (like jurassic park 3 kind of)

  2. Park owner simulator (Don't know what the original games were called)

  3. Multiplayer dino vs humans games. Could be a jurassic park version of Evolve: One player plays as a T-Rex, and a few other players plays as humans. This even could be split up into hunting the T-Rex, or fleeing the T-Rex

  4. Tons of other ideas...

I think this would be really cool

Platform Support?

Hi, I'm just curious what platforms you intend to publish this on. I believe CryEngine has Mac and Linux support.

Game coming to steam or not?

Heard this game isn't coming to Steam, unless that was a different JP game. If so, why not? :o

What do you need?

Do you need help with any aspects of creating the game? Funding, story writing, Hotpocket fetching? If there is a kickstarter or something for it, I will gladly donate. I'm sure you're sick of hearing this, but is there any anticipated release date? I want this so badly I just can't stand it! This seems like the Jurassic Park game I always dreamed of.
