Any help with the folks (Cage i know) in this picture and the (assumed) performance?
Hi everyone,
I will be performing water walk in a concert next month, and the only thing is missing is the tape that he used as background noise. Does anyone know where I might find a sound file of that? Otherwise I’m just gonna put on imaginary landscapes or something
Just found this sub. My father was a composer and a friend and student of John Cage's. Cage enlisted my brothers and me to toss coins, and used the I Ching hexagrams we came up with for his music. He was very open, joyful, and magnanimous. He would walk in the front door for dinner and call out, "Yum yum!" The first time I met him, when I was twelve, I awkwardly held out my hand. He kissed it.
Cage was a mycologist, and took my dad and his friends on foraging trips. They would come back with oyster mushrooms, morels, and fairy rings. He would saute the fairy rings in butter, lemon, and red pepper, and my mother would use the oysters to make mushroom soup with cream and sherry. As a child, I hated the slimy button mushrooms from grocery stores, but these were heavenly.
It's kind of sad to think of these things now that he's gone. But every memory I have of him is joyful.
I released my first book recently through Amazon and was told I should share about it here. Pause for Affect is an Avant-garde experiment in grammar. Inspired, in part, by 4'33" it is 100 pages comprised entirely of commas. One hundred pages of silence in written form with the intent of forcing introspection upon the "reader" If you would like to check it out, here's the link https://a.co/6ok1Ab1
hi there, one of my favorite lines from a year from Monday is "continue; I'll discover where you sweat (Kierkeegaard)" does anyone know if this an actually kierkeegarrd quote if so from what?
I would like to hear some opinions on this question from John Cage fans.
Also PM me if you want to mod.

Hey all. I was wondering if there is any place online where I can download/buy the score for Cage's "William's Mix".
I wrote an essay on John Cage in which I try to take an honest look at him as a composer, not as a charlatan or a cult guru. I'm curious what the Cageans think of this, and I welcome any criticism or feedback. Thanks in advance!

Is there a place I can watch the note change this year?
