Dedicated to the people, the food and of course the music of one of New Orleans' longest running festivals, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

Due to our relatively low post volume, currently we are allowing posting of house/apt rental posts, especially if you are offering a deal of some sort. Just like the city, we reserve the right to change our minds about this at any time.

Planning a trip. Should we plan for first or second weekend?

Based off of your experience, is there a difference between the two weekends? Both inside and outside the festival

Any guesses to whoā€™s gonna be at 2025??

After seeing all of the tours come out and all the tour rumors, who do yall think is gonna be there. Hopefully AC/DC I think there could be a chance.

French Quarter RV Resort

Has anyone stayed at the French Quarter RV Resort during Jazzfest? Or I guess, anytime, really. Wife and I are thinking of taking our Class B RV down there next year so we can ride our bikes to the fest. Wondering about any experiences anyone might have had there. We will be going to late night shows so will need to Uber back late night. Would be interested in any other experience or tips regarding Jazzfest and staying in a van. Thanks!

Travelling during JazzFest 2025, what's the city like during JazzFest - Not at the festival, but around the main areas?

Hey all!

As above, we'll be visiting NOLA from Australia during JazzFest 2025, but we won't be attending the festival. What's the rest of the city like during this time? Is there a bunch of other stuff on in the city during this time, or is it all restricted to the festival areas?

I'm assuming it'll be busy, but is that going to affect the whole city during festival times, or just restricted to the festival areas?

We'll be passing through between the 24th and 27th of April 2025

Tickets for 2025

Trying to get an early jump and looking to secure tickets for the 1st weekend 2025. When I go to Tickets - New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival - New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (nojazzfest.com) and select the tickets I am looking for it directs me to the Axs which says there are no dates. It is possible they are not on sale yet? Thanks for your help!

Jazzfest Food Refunds?

In the last few days I've had a few refunds hit my Credit Card, all from New Orleans Jazzfest food vendors. One from "CATERING UNLIMITED" for $.62, one from "BAQUET'S LIL DIZZY'S CAFE" for $.60, one from "BA MIEN VIETNAMESE" and "Cafe Du Monde" each for $.36 for a total of $1.94.

Anyone else seeing this or know what this is about? Some sort of tax refund thing that we've all been waiting for?

Is Jazzfest still "organic"?

I haven't been to Jazzfest in a long time. I'm telling a friend of mine about it to encourage her to go. From what I remember, all the vendors (food and merchandise) need to win their category (be the best around) in order to be invited to participate, and there are no duplicate . And there are no corporate vendors (except for maybe the alcohol?). Is this still true?

Also, I remember they were bringing in some pretty big names a couple/few years after Katrina, to get the attendance back up. It seems that almost worked against them because it became too crowded. How has this been over the most recent years?

Cardi B

I really wish they would sign Cardi B to play jazz fest. That's all.

2014 Lineup

My wife and I travel for a different festival each year and I'm trying to come up with a scrap book or something to commemorate all our fests and I was hoping to find a copy of all the lineups

Does anyone have an image of the 2014 lineup? Festival wizard has every other year except the one I need. I even went back through the fests Facebook page from that time and couldn't find it there either.

Edit: I probably didn't word my post well. Was looking for the lineup poster. Figured it would be a long shot.

Munck Music 2024 Vinyls

Hello there,

Iā€™m wondering if anyone has received the 2024 vinyls that they ordered from the Munck Music tent? I looked on their website and apparently they donā€™t provide any updates via email.

Do other festivals do posters like Jazz Fest?

To be more specific, the official jazz poster released every year. I know other festivals may release their lineup as a poster, but Iā€™m not looking for a lineup poster. Based on my research, the Jazz posters seem to be unique to Jazz Fest. Am I missing something?

Weekend 1/2 attendance

My wife and I attended both weekend 1 and 2 this year, for the first time. It was absolutely incredible, but also punishing (to our bodies and bank account)!

I've been to Jazz Fest before, but only for one weekend. Seeing both weekends this year, it was striking how many more people were at weekend 2 vs weekend 1.

My question is - is it always this lopsided? Is weekend 2 always busier? Or was it driven by the Rolling Stones kicking off weekend 2?

Just curious, because I don't know if we'll be up for two weekends next time!

Finally, Jazz Fest

I can't take credit for this- a friend of mine wrote this and I thought it was special, so I'm sharing here with permission...

Finally, Jazz Fest

Finally, Jazz Fest, once again. Itā€™s a carnival atmosphere as we head to the gates of the Fairgrounds. Hallowed grounds. We follow Monica, our festival totem, our purple haired muse. A stop for a bloody at Liuzzaā€™s. A greeting from the smiling NOPD officer at the same intersection every year. Bottled water from Miss Linda. Always Linda. I love Jazz Fest for these small traditions.

Slow to go from last nightā€™s merriment, the sun is already oppressive as we enter the gates. The humidity clings like a second skin. Weā€™re greeted by the joyous choirs of the gospel tent. My back end automatically kicks in and Iā€™m suddenly feeling the spirit. Oh Lord! Funk music and zydeco ooze from stages that makes your hips move in ways they donā€™t seem to move at home. I donā€™t care about the heat and humidity anymore.

Jazz Fest is a glorious mess. Cochon de Lait drips down my chin as the sweat flows freely to the rhythmic chants of Mardi Gras Indians. The dark roux and spices of pheasant, quail and andouille gumbo hit my tongue with same intensity as the brass bandā€™s blare from the passing second line parade. Iā€™m fueled by softshell crab po-boys and the sweet relief of the occasional breeze.

As the sun sets and the crowds disperse, exhausted but fulfilled, the atmosphere changes and the festival transforms. The nightclubs become the heart of Jazz Fest. Frenchman Street becomes a river of revelers, flowing from music club to music club. Small venues with divey charm. Tipitinaā€™s, Maple Leaf, Blue Nile. Packed rooms thick with anticipation of funky music and the smell of stale beer. ā€œOnly at Jazz Festā€ musical mashups of national acts connecting with New Orleansā€™ deep reservoir of musical talent and local legends. The music is intimate and personal.

The nights are long during Jazz Fest, moving from club to club, band to band, each a little taste of New Orleansā€™ musical heritage. FOMO is real. Itā€™s exhausting, this relentless pursuit of joy, a marathon not a sprint, but itā€™s also exhilarating. Thereā€™s an intense camaraderie amongst my fellow festers, a family reunion, a shared understanding that weā€™re part of something special, a much needed reminder that humanity is fundamentally good.

Dancing all night, I feel every note in the soles of my feet. My legs are sore but my heart is full. I feel alive in ways that I donā€™t feel anywhere else. My best self. Stumbling home I vow to sleep for days, but I know deep down that tomorrow Iā€™ll be back at the Fairgrounds. I know Iā€™ll be back next year and the year after that. I'll dance until my legs beg for mercy and then I'll dance some more.

Who did you see at Jazzfest that really flipped your lid?

For me I had two night (well, afternoon) highlights. One was Stantonā€™s Zildjian thing at Tipitinas at 3pm on midweek Tuesday and the other was Frequinauts at Toulouse Theater. I can never pick a favorite at the fairgrounds, unless, of course, you count the Fried Chicken. Oh, and the empanadas at the Colombian exhibit.
