If Kamala Harris were a Kid Rock and Lee Greenwood fan we wouldn't be here right now smh.
EDIT: I hear you, it’s not a regular post for this sub. I’ll repost in the regular jazz sub. I just thought people here might have some unique recommendations, so I’m leaving this up.
Hey team,
First of all, love this sub - I don’t know who hurt you all, but I’m so thankful they did! I could have posted this on the main jazz sub, but I feel like the vibe in here is a better match for my query!
So basically, as the title suggests, I’m looking for any recs for any good jazz YouTubers (aside from Adam Neely, who I already love). For context, I’m a lifelong Jazz fan and multi-instrumentalist, but only recently decided to study jazz properly, focusing on deepening my harmonic knowledge.
Also, to head off the usual comments that come come on posts like this: Yes, I will find a good teacher, but I’m a bit strapped for cash right now. Yes, I’m already doing exercises and study independently, and I’m currently working through the Berklee Book of Jazz Harmony, and Perischetti’s Twentieth Century Harmony (stop wrinkling my brain Perischetti), and I’m just looking to augment that with some more deep dives and lessons from good content creators!
Thanks in advance!
and which of their recordings is most like Slippery When Wet
I need something that has a certain rhythm that will give me the motivation. I need to be a good lover, but can you please suggest something that is no longer than a minute and 40 seconds because I don’t have all day.
What’s the big idea ? I open it, and no tabs !
Everything is letters and triangles and other symbols
Im a sax player but 10 days ago I started learning trumpet so last friday (a couple of days have passed since the events Im about to write about happened, but I really needed the time to reflect and research the topic) I went to the local brewery/opium den for the biweekly jam session they organize.
I played a bit and was doing great, I even got approving nods from all the brass players there during my solos. I tried calling Anthony Braxton's 30-EGN but nobody else knew the tune and they refused to play with the chord chart I quickly wrote down on a couple dozen napkins, that was a bit of a let down but I'd say overall I was pretty satisfied.
However at a certain point a trombone player asks me to borrow my trumpet for a quick song. Im not sure which song he wanted to play but after discussing for a bit with the bass and piano player (who respectively wanted to play Israel and Bolivia), finally decided to play Spain.
He plays it perfectly and after every player gets their moment to solo, at the end of the piece, he starts playing the theme again up an octave. Then up another octave. Then another one. Another one. For the fifth octave, he pulls down his pants and starts farting into the mouthpiece, while keeping perfect intonation. I had to restrain myself from shouting "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME" through the hall (didn't want to ruin the vibe, which was immaculate). Then he keeps going up to the 6th and 7th octave, while smirking at me (the facial expression mightve been just him straining but I could clearly see mockery in his eyes). I was absolutely aghast, and when he gave me back my trumpet, I couldnt help but feel violated.
He must've sensed something was wrong cause he laughed at me and told me not to worry, as he had douched his anus before the jam session, as he always does (in case he needs to employ this "asstended technique" as he called it). As you may imagine, that didnt really help. I quickly left after chatting with some players who said theyd listen to 30-EGN before the next jam so that we could play it.
Anyway, I tried looking online but could find literally nothing so Im asking to the brass players out here:
How do I strengthen my sphincter to achieve those crispy 6th and 7th octave notes? I could barely play the first overtone when I tried by myself at home. Should I get a teacher?
