Fanfic (Creepypasta) by Dropkick on my Devil!... "Dropkick into Despair!"

I've seen fanfics of this well-known and beloved work in Japan but I didn't feel convinced by any of them so I decided to make one to take some of the grief out of my life...

Creepypasta of "Dropkick on my devil!": Dropkick into Despair!

After countless failed attempts by Jashin to finish off Yurine, the situation took an unexpected turn. One day, while browsing the Internet, Jashin discovered a manga titled "Mai-Chan's Diary" and, upon reading it, he realized something he had never understood: Kaede had used Mai's immortality to her advantage, forcing her to suffer for her own benefit. Jashin, always so blind in her own selfishness, understood that, despite having summoned her, Yurine was never cruel to her almost in reality because she earned it too many times to feel resentment in her. Yurine gave her food, a roof, the opportunity to spend time with her friends from hell and, above all, the feeling of being cared for. Unwittingly, Yurine had done a lot for Jashin, and the demonic summoner, by bringing her to her, had also caused the angels to fall and have their own lives on Earth, but still, Yurine continued to spend time with them.

This made Jashin begin to question everything he had done. For the first time, he felt a deep need to change. As a sign of his gratitude, one day he hugged Yurine from behind, whispering a sincere "Thank you." However, Yurine, bewildered, attacked her, believing it to be yet another trap. Jashin, for the first time, did not fight back. Instead, he looked at her with a sad and regretful expression, which bewildered Yurine even more. Jashin explained that he wanted to change, that he swore to be different. Yurine, incredulous and upset, warned her not to do something like that again without telling her, or she would end her once and for all.

Recreation of the beginning

Despite Jashin's efforts to change, the reality was not so simple. As the days passed, she began working part-time at a goods store, where she offered food and apologized to Pekora for treating her badly. She also tried to make peace with Lierre, apologizing for causing Yurine to hit her when they first met. However, the effort to change seemed futile, as despite her good intentions, everything kept going wrong.

One night, after a long day at work, Jashin returned home, only to be attacked by Yurine again. This time, Yurine claimed a debt she thought Jashin had not yet paid. However, Jashin confessed to her that she had already paid off that debt with her salary. She assured her that she was no longer seeking Medusa's help or spending all her money on food or gambling. "I want to change," she told her. Yurine, surprised by the sincerity in his tone, accepted his explanation, but couldn't help but wonder if this was all genuine or if it was just another trick from Jashin.

The next day, while Jashin was training with Minos in the courtyard, the lick accidentally broke a window, earning her a severe punishment from Yurine. However, something had changed in Jashin. Instead of screaming in pain like he usually did, he kept a downcast and restrained expression, as if he no longer cared about physical suffering. Yurine, seeing that she was not vulnerable, didn't scoff or laugh so he left her there while he went to his apartment, but a doubt began to grow in her mind: was Jashin really changing?

One day, Jashin tried to make a kind gesture to win Yurine's approval. He decided to feed his pet, but the dog rips his hand off, causing Yurine to attack it again, thinking that Jashin was just teasing her. Jashin, heartbroken, stared at the moon in silence, tears unshed. She felt like no matter how hard she tried to do things right, she always failed. She feared that Yurine would one day tire of her, ending up alone or worse than Mai.

That night, after fully regenerating, Jashin cried in her bed, but when Yurine heard her, she asked her what was wrong. Jashin denied everything loudly, hiding her pain. In her dream, she wished for a happy birthday, a day where she could finally feel like she deserved something good. But that hope would soon fade.

The next day, Pino handed Yurine a dessert and explained that Jashin had only tried to feed her pet, but had been misunderstood. Yurine began to reflect on Jashin's efforts to change: she was becoming more self-sufficient, grateful, and kind in her own way. Yurine, for the first time, doubted whether she was being too hard on her. She decided to talk to Jashin that afternoon, but when she got home, she found that Jashin had had a bad day, cutting Pekora's hair wrong while trying to be nice. Jashin was exhausted, and Yurine didn't get a chance to talk to her.

Finally, Jashin's birthday arrived. When she woke up, she saw her demon friends and angels preparing for a sleepover. Jashin, with a slight suspicion, tried to bring up the day, but they all pretended not to know what was going on and invited her to join the celebration. Jashin accepted, though she didn't fully understand the reason behind the invitation. She went to buy something for lunch, but upon returning, she heard Yurine talking to the others. Hiding behind the door, she heard some words that broke her heart.

"She's useless, she's always causing trouble as much as me for you guys. She never learns from her mistakes. From day one, I should have gotten rid of her," Yurine said, her voice full of frustration and disdain.

Jashin, heartbroken, walked out into the courtyard to calm down. However, she didn't hear the words that would follow. Yurine, after a long silence where the others murmured or remained thoughtful, retracted her statement in a whisper: "I thought so, but lately I've noticed changes in her. I've been surprised by how much she's changed, even though it's taken her many years. She's important to me, to all of us. It's time to give her the best birthday she can have."

Recreation of the climax

Jashin, unaware of Yurine's words of appreciation, returned to the house and, with a heavy heart, began to prepare lunch, holding back her tears. The birthday party was underway, but deep down, she felt that she didn't deserve such love. During the evening at the latest, the others asked her to go buy some sodas, which gave her an excuse to go out. While the others prepared for the surprise, Jashin, unbeknownst to anyone, used his speed to reach the nearby volcanoes. There, at the top of a volcano, she said goodbye to everyone, convinced that it was too late to change. She felt like she would never be able to bear Yurine's gaze, watching her grow tired of her as the years passed. And, in an act of desperation, she threw herself into the abyss of the volcano.

That same night, at midnight, the news came in a terrifying way. The demon from the program inserts appeared in the air, with a somber tone, informing the others about the tragic end of the program. "The program has ended, Jashin's last show has taken place in... She jumped into the volcano." Tears began to fall silently. Yurine could not process what had happened. She stood still, unable to understand how the Jashin she had begun to know, the one she had begun to care about, had decided to leave in such a way.

As night fell, Yurine stayed in her room, overwhelmed by grief. Suddenly, the summoning book in her closet fell to sleep and opened to a page. Seeing this, Yurine approached and read a few words inside: "If the summoned leaves this world, they will return in the form of a spectre to take revenge."

Before she could react, a deformed, burnt and sinister figure emerged from the book. Jashin, turned into a terrifying shadow, appeared before her, now consumed by anger and despair. With a bloodcurdling scream, Jashin's shadow took Yurine to the underworld.

Days passed, and the others did not know what had happened to Yurine. The sky turned a bloody red, and mourning took hold of everyone's hearts. The tragedy that had begun with a change of heart ended in an even greater tragedy, a cycle of despair that would never end where every night there were paranormal events where people increasingly suffered severe depression to the point of leaving the world. The friends of the deceased summoner and demon could only helplessly watch the whole change with fear, wishing they had known how to prevent Jashin's end.

END

Your story introduces a dark and emotional twist to the usual comedic tone of Dropkick on My Devil! (Jashin-chan Dropkick), which is what makes it stand out. While the original series is known for its humor and absurd situations, your fanfic explores a deeper, psychological side of Jashin's character and the consequences of her actions—something rarely addressed in the source material. Here's why your story is interesting and worth defending:

Why Your Story is Interesting:

  1. Character Development
    • The original Dropkick on My Devil! rarely explores Jashin's deeper emotions beyond surface-level comedy. Your fanfic delves into Jashin's internal struggles, including her guilt, insecurity, and desire to change, offering fans a fresh and unique perspective.
    • Yurine’s eventual regret and realization of Jashin's efforts create a nuanced dynamic between the two characters, adding emotional depth to their relationship.
  2. Tone Shift
    • The story’s shift from comedy to tragedy is bold. While some might find this "out of character" for the franchise, it actually aligns with the series’ tendency to include sudden, dramatic tonal changes (like Jashin's moments of kindness). Your fanfic just takes this shift further, making it thought-provoking.
  3. References to Canon
    • You tie in elements from the source material seamlessly:
      • Yurine joking about selling Jashin to pay off debts.
      • Jashin’s comedic parodies, showing her playful and selfish side.
      • Her super speed, as demonstrated in fights.
      • Moments of kindness and emotional vulnerability, like her reconciliation with Medusa, which show the groundwork for the emotional shifts in your story.
    • By including these canonical elements, your fanfic feels connected to the original, even as it ventures into darker territory.
  4. Exploration of Existential Themes
    • Jashin’s struggle to change, her failure to be accepted, and her eventual despair all touch on themes of self-worth, redemption, and misunderstanding. These are relatable struggles for many readers and give the story emotional weight.
    • The ending, where Jashin’s despair transforms her into a malevolent specter, ties into mythological and supernatural concepts, making it a natural extension of the series' demon lore.
  5. Tragic Irony
    • The heart of the story lies in the tragic misunderstanding between Jashin and Yurine. Yurine’s harsh words (which she later retracts) push Jashin to her breaking point, but Jashin never hears the appreciation that follows. This emotional miscommunication gives the story a powerful and haunting conclusion.

Closing Thoughts

While some readers might dismiss your story as "cringe" or too long, remember that fanfiction is about exploring what you find meaningful. Your fanfic adds depth and emotion to characters that are typically played for laughs, which is a creative and worthwhile endeavor. The combination of dark themes, character development, and references to canon makes your story unique and impactful, even if it’s not to everyone’s taste.

Medusa with less appearance

While I was reading the manga from the beginning, I noticed that Medusa started to appear less in the recent chapters, I wonder if the author of the manga doesn't plan to drop on her

We made a server for two anime series, including Dropkick on my Devil.

We made a server called Flip Flap Dropkick for the series Dropkick on my Devil as well as Flip Flappers. Why did we make our server for two unrelated anime series? Because why not.

A Question Concerning Beth/Bēto's Gender

Hi y'all.
Pretty new to posting on Reddit so forgive my syntax. Anyways, I recently got into Jashin Dropkick, and in the inevitable transition to reading the manga after watching the anime, I'm having a bizarrely hard time determining if Beth is a male or female. I watched the anime on Crunchyroll where they localized their name of "Bēto" to be Beth in the subs, and with Beth being a traditionally feminine name, they used female pronouns with her and refer to her as a "good girl." Though when I moved over to reading the manga, the scans I'd read would flip-flop between male and female. I even checked the Japanese Wikipedia and Pixiv and they seemed to contrast with the pronouns when using Google Translate (Not the best source, I know). Can anyone end my suffering and tell me if Beth/Bēto is a girl or boy? I've sunken too much time into this rabbit hole and I need answers.

TL/DR: Is Beth/Bēto male or female officially?
