Japanese Current Events and Politics
This is a subreddit for news, commentary and analysis of Japanese politics, social trends, business, crime and diplomatic relations. Some ground rules:
Do not report stories on the basis you feel they cast an aspect of Japan in a negative light. As is the case in any country with a free press, news and editorials can often be negative or critical of particular public figures, laws and policies. Instead, please submit alternate viewpoints for balance, or get discussion going by objecting in the comments.
If you wish to report an inappropriate story, please message the mod as well to explain your reasoning. Reports have no affect on the filter, and if the reason for it is not obvious to a human mod, it will be ignored.
Avoid text posts containing anecdotes and personal opinions about Japan. Every post should link to a news article from a credible news source.
Differences in opinion are welcome, but comments that spread demonstrably false information (e.g., "it's a fact vaccines kill more people than Covid") will be deleted and lead to a ban.
No NSFW content.
No "only in wacky Japan" posts, please. If your article wouldn't appear in a (Japanese) daily newspaper, it probably doesn't belong here either.
Real news only please- no parody sites.
No product reviews
Japanese sources are welcome, but please provide an English title and use the [日本語] link flair.
When submitting, put the most important information in the title!. Ideally, people should be able to get their news just by browsing the page, and clicking on links for further details. Avoid vague link titles like "Abe's Conundrum", or "Nagoya Traditions Run Deep", please.
No personal attacks, racism, etc. If you see a viewpoint you don't agree with, criticize the argument, not the person making it.

Didn't know she was in Japan. Sad to hear the news.
There have been court rulings requiring pet owners to prevent excessive barking and ensure their dogs are properly trained.
Many condos prohibits pets because of the noise.
Not about dogs, but my neighbors also complaint about feeding stray cats because it attracts more cats and the neighbors end up picking up the feces afterwards because nobody else would and it smells very bad especially in summer.
In Japan, the act of gambling is illegal, except if it is publicly run, such as horse racing and keirin cycle racing. If people in Japan gamble in online casinos, it is illegal, even if the sites are legally operated overseas. Violators could face a fine of up to ¥500,000, and those who habitually gamble could be punished with imprisonment of up to three years.
