So this is a long shot haha

Many years ago I went to a concert. I think it was a day of fire concert? Pretty sure it wasn’t full devil jacket haha. Anyway the first band was a band called Sound the Charge and I bought their CD and loved it. It’s been so long now and the CD got lost in my many moves.

Yall I need to hear them again. 😭 pretty sure the album is called silent steps of situation. I can’t find anything anywhere. I’m like 99% sure they were from Jackson. I know they don’t exist anymore but they were genuinely so good. 🥺 anyway i need to hear them again. Does anyone know anything about them? Haha it’s like a lost media case. 😩

Also I tried posting this on one of the Jackson FB pages but of course they didn’t approve it. 😔

Thanks.

Tech/Art Jobs?

Hi, this is my first post here but I'm relatively new to the area and currently don't have a sustainable job.
I am someone who graduated college with a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Information Systems and unfortunately don't have much in the way to show for previous work experience for a tech job .. but I also am someone who does make art (things like logos, illustrations, and so on) and music (jingles, pieces, songs) .. but is there anything like this I can look to for work in the Jackson area without the means of much transportation?

Otherwise outside of that, I'm feeling a bit trapped and isolated and would like to otherwise just branch out because of my lack of success trying to find remote work.

Looking for a group to join

Hi! I have recently moved back to the area and would love to get involved with a group of friends my age. I’m single, in my early 30’s, live in Brownsville and enjoy church, hiking, playing the piano (beginner), reading, video games and table top games, as well as DND (also a beginner!). I currently work in marketing and am also getting my masters degree. Does anyone have any suggestions of groups I could join?

New in Town, recommendations?

Hi everyone! I’m moving to Jackson very soon, and was hoping I could get some wisdom from this sub

If anyone has any recommendations for favorite restaurants, nature trails, shopping, or other fun things to do around the city, I’d be super grateful to hear about them!

I’m not a picky eater and I’m open to trying new foods and activities, so any and all suggestions are welcome

Thank you, and I’m looking forward to being part of your community!

Anybody ever worked at Delta Faucet

I got two job offers and I have to chose which one to take. One of the jobs is at Delta Faucet as an assembler.

Everything I was told during the interview sounded really good. But the reviews on glassdoor/indeed are not that good.

My main questions are: How often did you have to work overtime? How hot/noisy is it in the factory? And, how physically demanding is the job?

Anyone on the Southside been hearing that steam whistle going off all hours of the day and night?

We live on 18 and over in the bonwood industrial complex a company called PCS has installed a literal steam whistle on something that blows so loud we can hear it in our house. It last for 20-30 minutes or more at a stretch, will cut off for a while, then start back up. I’ve got video of the sounds from 3 and 4 o’clock this morning. Apparently my SIL can hear it and she lives all the way over on Rebel rd. How is this allowed? What can be done, do I start a petition? Contact the mayor w good hair?

Let's talk it out.

I've noticed whenever I post in the Jackson subreddit about supporting local black business I get a lot of push back. I've never said don't support other businesses. I only asked where to find some more and I've posted black businesses that I've found. To me it seems like Jacksonians don't like the idea of black people being included in capitalism. I come to the community searching for help/recommendations and receive only scorn. It feels strange, I am from Jackson but it seems I'm not of Jackson. So I have a few questions.

Why is black capitalism negative or scary to Jacksonians?

If black businesses are local businesses, then why is there such push back in supporting them? Are we not Americans, are we not Jacksonians?

This is admittedly anecdotal, but many Jacksonians I've spoken with feel that black people are culturally inferior, and that they are the only problem they face. I disagree, as would anyone who's read W.E.B Du Bois and Baldwin, but if we expect the worse from black folk, why not support them when doing the best?

Money Where my Mouth is pt2.

Small update, I might make more of these. I found a black-owned black beauty supply store. The name is 2U Beauty and Fashion. It's on the corner of N Highland and N Parkway. Good inventory, good variety, good customer service. For black folk, you're gonna purchase these products anyway, might as well support your own; manually invest in our communities since our environment compells us not to do so. To all else, it's still a local business, stop by and see if there's something for you. We accuse black people of being lazy and morally bankrupt, so support a black woman making her hard-earned money by the book. We criticize it when we don't see it, so let's support it when we do! If you know a minority-owned/local business put it in the comments.

Any Ham Radio operators in Jackson, TN?

I'll keep it short for those not on the same wavelength, but I'm cruising the channels and only hear silence. Any other frequency enthusiasts out there?
