Some insane ideas I've come up with include:
a full season consisting of eight 500 mile races ovals only, each one with two weeks of practice and qualifying just like the Indianapolis 500 and spaced out once a month like it's an endurance series
an off-season series where they drive replicas of old Offy roadsters on as many historic tracks as possible. Absolutely no tracks built after the 60s-70s.
Indianapolis street race
bring back the US 500 at Michigan you cowards
a season where they run all courses reversed. Including a blasphemous clockwise Indy 500
the split was awful for the sport but maybe that's because they didn't do it right! Split the field into 3 different competing series and the top 11 championship contenders from each series will go on to race in the playoffs next May at the Indianapolis 500!
It's gonna be a long 6 months isn't it
You are an up-and-coming young driver. You have had a great junior career- tons of wins, maybe a few championships. You've been offered a full time INDYCAR Series seat for next season with one of the following teams: Ed Carpenter Racing, Dale Coyne Racing, or Juncos Hollinger Racing.
Which would you pick and why?
Kinda ridiculous, but could replace thermal
I'll be travelling half way across the world for about 10 days of Indianapolis next May - attending the bucket list Indy500 if possible for the first time-
I'm looking for your suggestions of all IndyCar-related things to do in Indianapolis or surrounding areas (half a day drive from Indy):
the obvious things are:
So what else can you recommend from this list - that is either there or missing from it?
Is there anything indycar or should do to benefit from the nascar controversy? Indycar does have a partial claim to the monopoly argument in nascar taking their Texas date late and blocking them from other owned ovals and properties. Is there any other avenues that could help indycar attract some sponsors or help themselves in any way during this possibly interesting time for nascar?
I can't imagine Penske actually signing this charter agreement unless 1) it doesn't mean what the plaintiff is alleging it means OR 2) Penske has some sort of grandfather protections.
With people posting texas street course mock-ups, I thought I would remind everyone how much of a sh*t show detroit was this past year, and being a passionate Detroit local, I made a "dream track" that isn't simply belle isle up until 2022.
Features
JUST under 3 miles, CCW
Still circles the GM building, Since I know the importance of the b2b aspect of the Motown GP.
S/F line on Beaubien St (FAR RIGHT), with Pitlane on the other side of the separation on that road
Still on the water, so Ilmor can keep their boat products on display (they help make the engines)
Rides Woodward Ave, a detroit Automotive staple (look up woodward dream cruise online)
Passes campus martius
14 corners (Corner 1 being Beaubien x Monroe)
Longest straight just under .5 miles on Beaubien, with another .4 mile straight on W Congress
Interesting kink in turn 11 that could maybe be flat-out?
Assumed Passing zones Corners #1, #3 (maybe), $5, #11, #12, #13
I would love to hear people's comments. This is simply for conversation and fun, so keep it light.
Man, that pace car was coming in HOT!
Watching the 1997 Nazareth race on YouTube and saw this guy.
So gleaning for Marshall Pruetts lowdown and impression of the goings on:
The Andretti and Towriss relationship was not roses
Wayne Taylor is Andretti Global’s but the Andretti name has been dropped, further consolidating with GM
GM Cadillac factory is probably the F1 team effort going forward
No affects to Indycar team but IndyNXT could be- Micheal was heavily involved with driver selection- biggest immediate change we see could be Jamie Chadwick’s future
There is more unknown than is known. But looks like the phasing out of the Andretti name is still a possibility in Indycar combined with the engine manufacturer change to the team - my prediction would be the Wayne Taylor racing in a year or two.
For the Andretti name recognition thing- group 1001 is also sponsoring all the cars- so it’s not doing much legwork
Hi everybody,
We created a tierlist to rank all the 43 drivers who raced in the 2024 season at some point, whether full-time, Indy 500-only or a one-off entry.
Top category being 'billboard-worthy' after Mark Miles believe's that the current field isn't popular enough to be on billboards, with the bottom being 'bumped'
Would be interested to see what everybody comes up with for this!
We did our own, and gave our reasons for them, you can find the first half on YouTube or Spotify
The INDYCAR season may be over... but Firehawk's Fitness Program isn't 💪
Curious observation - the latest episode of Off Track with Ed Carpenter doesn’t have the usual starting theme with race audio, and it has Thim reading the closing credits.
Problem with production, or weird copyright issues from the change in broadcasting rights (even though the audio is old as)?
I'm going to be embarking on a cross-country move at the end of the month and I'll be going right through Indianapolis and might have an hour or two to kill. I tried looking at the IMS tours and sadly they're sold out and obviously the Museum is closed, but are there other things that would be worth stopping by and checking out? Do any of the shops have public areas/tours? It will likely be on a Sunday if that affects things. Any tips or advice would be appreciated, thanks!
Met Mario Andretti a few weeks ago and got his autograph. He was a real nice guy
