The final leg of Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 kicks off in Pune, the home of defending champions Puneri Paltan, from December 3 to 24. With intense competition this season, Pune will also host the playoffs, culminating in the grand final on December 29. The Maharashtra Derby between Puneri Paltan and U Mumba promises high stakes as both teams fight for supremacy. Fans can expect electrifying matches as teams vie for a place in the playoffs in one of the most competitive seasons yet.
After so many withdrawals initially, I wasn't very excited to follow the Syed Modi International since it felt a little less competitive for a Super-300 Tournament. However, now we have reached to the last day of the Tournament with the Final matches taking place tomorrow (Sunday).
It has been a pretty good tournament for Indian Badminton, not really great but still lots of positives to take from it. The great thing is, in all of the 5 categories, we have secured Finalists. It has been a long time since we won *any* super tournament, last being the Thailand Open (Super-500) in May won by Rankireddy-Shetty in Men's Doubles.
Sindhu won her last tournament in 2022, a great chance for her to gain some momentum for next year. Surprisingly, she hasn't registered for the Malaysia Open (Super-1000), which will be the first bug tournament of the next cycle. Don't know what she has in her mind.
Dhruv-Tanisha have shown some potential. We have been seeing the same 2 pairs in Mixed Doubles trying to come out of mediocrity, but this third pair can do well.
Gayatri-Treesa are the future. Even though Ashwini-Tanisha are currently ranked 13th, and are a seeded pair in the upcoming Malaysia Open, it's better to accept that Ashwini Ponappa is in the last stages of her career. Even today, they should've won but ended up losing. Hopefully Treesa-Gayatri win tomorrow and gain some confidence, and obviously, ranking points.
In Men's Doubles, we don't see a challenge apart from Sat-Chi and this pair of Pratheek-Roy has a mountain to climb to get to the top ranks. Will be an interesting watch tomorrow!
Lakshya has bigger battles to fight, so this should be an easy challenge for him. This should help him with the ranking points!
It goes without saying that, if you live in or around Lucknow, please visit the arena to cheer our shuttlers. It's free entry.
