Whenever I come to L.A.—in fact, one of the reasons I look forward to doing The Taste—is because as soon as I arrive I'll hit the airport In-N-Out, and on my way out of town, after finishing The Taste, I'll pick up another. Every once in a while I'll even buy a big reeking back of burgers with onions and fries and shakes, and I'll bring 'em back through my very nice hotel lobby, and it's really an amazing thing to see. Generally speaking, when you walk through a lobby of a nice hotel with a big reeking bag of fast-food, people look at you like you're low class, like, 'Why are you bringing that in here? We do have a restaurant.' No, nothing but love and admiration, even from the staff. They're like, 'Good going sir, nicely done sir, excellent!'"

Is there anything special going on at In n Out today? (Nov 1st, '24)
There was a huge line of cars in Pasadena on foothill blvd at 9:30 am. They don't even open till 10:30. I can't find anything online and the FOMO is killing me. lol
Hey everyone,
I'm 28 with about 6 years of experience in fast food/service work, currently driving full-time for Uber. I just went through the interview process at a new In-N-Out that opened recently, and today I got an email saying I wasn’t selected for the position.
I dressed professionally—nice shirt, dark jeans—and made sure to be respectful and upbeat during the interview. I highlighted my past experience in fast-paced, customer-oriented jobs, thinking it would be a good fit. I definitely smiled a lot, too. The interview happened on a day when the air quality was terrible—it was super windy, dusty, and dry, making it hard to breathe, and by the end of the day, I’d had five bloody noses. Not ideal.
What’s tough is I know about six people around my age (or younger) who recently got hired there with no experience. A couple of them, to be honest, aren’t exactly hard workers. It’s hard not to feel a bit bitter, especially since In-N-Out pays more than other fast food places around here.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know if it’s worth reapplying to the same location after the 60-day buffer period they mentioned? Also, if anyone has advice on what I might have done differently or what they might be looking for, I’d appreciate any tips. Here’s the email they sent if it helps:
Thank you for your interest in the Store Associate position. We know you have many choices in your job search and we are humbled you considered an opportunity with In-N-Out Burger.
We wanted to reach out and let you know that, unfortunately, we won't be moving forward with your application at this time. Each of our stores makes their own hiring decisions, and this email only applies to your application at this location.
We will keep your application active for 60 days so nearby stores can reach out to you if there are hiring needs.
Again, thank you for your interest, and we wish you the very best in your job search.
Thanks in advance for any insights or suggestions.
Edit: Questions I was asked in the interview
I mentioned that as a childcare worker, I was a mandatory reporter, which meant I was responsible for reporting any concerns directly and honestly, no matter the situation.
I shared that I have a 5.0 perfect rating from two years of working full-time with Uber and Lyft. In about 30 seconds, I can usually gauge the type of experience a customer wants, which has been key to maintaining those ratings.
I talked about my experience at Taco Bell when customers would come in upset about an incorrect order. I'd focus on making it right and making sure they left happy. I’ve noticed that when people are hungry, they can get pretty upset, but most often they end up apologizing once we solve the issue together.
I just told them I’d be driving for Uber for the rest of the day.
This is my favorite IN-N-OUT drive through. The burgers just seem to taste better here.
The sun was a nice golden glow.

Does anybody know if in n out still does free hot chocolate for kids on rainy days? Because it’s going to rain soon where I live and my local in n out is not even ten minutes away from me so I wanted to go so do they still do free hot chocolate on rainy days??
Been eating in n out since the 90s, before they had em in every city in southern Cali, so a lot of people actually had to drive a while to get to one, so it was like a treat.
Just saw a post on in n out hot cocoa, and I'm realizing there's probably a lot of stuff on (and off) the menu I haven't tried yet. I don't think I've even tried the milkshakes yet. When I was young, I just stuck with the pink lemonade. Then at a certain age, I always just got coke.
Is there anything I absolutely should try? The only things I've had are the hamburger, cheeseburger and double double. All with regular onions. The fries of course. And the pink lemonade. Tried my friends grilled onions once, but it was meh.
Its been finally getting cold and I thought I'd have a warm drink but when I ordered it I almost laughed when they handed me this. It was good but I'll just say it didn't survive the trip back to the shop.
My nephews on the East Coast are begging me to bring them double-doubles when I visit next month. Is there any way to order a cheeseburger unassembled? I just need the buns, patty, cheese, and spread (which I know comes in packets). Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!
HOW CAN I GET ONE DELIVERED
Thank you late night workers. I love in n out so much
hello everyone just wanted to give yall a heads up that I will be pushing to create the first Union at in n out! I am working everything out with my lawyers right now on how and when do get the ball rolling. This will be for southern california. Time to have representation for all associates!
After many times seeing it in this thread, I finally gave it a go.
Added mustard fried & 2x Grilled Onions. (I also add 2x grilled onions to my fries as well.)
Amazing! Tasted incredible and you feel significantly lighter after finishing this meal. I will definitely be ordering this way more often.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the classic burger. However, ditching the bread & spread to eat slightly healthier and this is still a GREAT option!
East coaster here about to order my first In-n-out order tomorrow. Super excited but not sure what to order. What should I get to have the best experience?
Double double animal, no pickles, extra toasted bun. I had to stare at it for a bit before digging in because it was just so damn beautiful.
I have 3 crazy experiences from my INO career that I'll never forget (these all happened at Store 193 btw):
A literal PIMP pulled up to the PW in a car full of hookers and asked me, "You wanna fuck one of these hoes? I gotchu for ya low" 💀
A guy pulled up to the PW while GETTING HEAD FROM HIS GIRL! The funny part was that the guy acted like everything was normal and my cousin & i were DYING after he drove away from the window😂
I met Shaun Livingston from the Golden State Warriors one time at Drive Handout! Although I didn't get his autograph, he was a really nice dude and really appreciated that I gave him my utmost respect from coming back and becoming great after suffering a horrible injury early in his career.
Hi everyone, I have my “first day” tomorrow, I think it’s the day that I’ll be watching the videos because my manager mentioned that last visit. I completed the online onboarding and food handlers card so I do assume that tomorrow will be the video day. Does anyone have any advice on honestly anything but specifically what I should wear 😂 (are jeans fine) Thank you!!
To my surprise the fries were still hot when I got home
Seems closer to what I would expect Well or Extra Well to look and taste like. I couldn’t finish them.
Burger order: 4x2 add grilled onions, pickles, and chilies

Hi everyone! I’m currently working on my Level 5, and I’m just one certification away from reaching it (overall speed). This week is my final chance to secure it before moving to a new location, and my store manager will be watching my performance closely. I’d really appreciate any tips to help me perform my best, especially since I’ll likely be on the first board. Earning my Level 5 would be a huge accomplishment, and I know it’ll draw attention from a lot people around me. So, if you have any advice, I’m all ears—this is my last shot! Ngl…
