I was helping my niece apply for study permit extension. Last month IRCC asked for updated LOA with new estimated graduation time. We obtained the document from university, and uploaded it to the IRCC online account. However we didn't sign and click on the "submit" button. I know we are dumb, stupid. As a result we got refusal letter yesterday. Today we submitted the restoration application. I see the previous posts about the processing time which can be several months. Is there any chance or any way to ask for urgent processing? I am really desperate and it's mainly my fault.
I was applying the surrender certificate to the ottawa office, i used ups with a return envelope in it. To the 10 Springfield address, one of my friends told me that i had to book through bls, But i have sent it through ups with all docs and demand deposit for 117.7. Has anyone done this before ?
Hello my boyfriend is preparing to come to Canada with a working holiday visa next year. He wants to work in an office and not do any service jobs for he was working as crisis management back in Korea. Would it be hard to find an office job if his English is not fluent? It’s at a level where he basically speaks kindergarten lvl.
Hello everyone -
Apologies for another C-71 post, but as I read more about the stipulations I have become more confused if it would make me eligible for Canadian citizenship.
I’ve put below my family situation. As it reads today, would C-71 grant me the ability to become a Canadian citizen?
Grandfather - Born in 1924 in Canada, but never claimed Canadian citizenship, as he moved to the US as a child and US did not allow dual citizenship until 1967. Died in 2004, before the “2009” amendments.
Father - Born in US in 1961, has not claimed Canadian citizenship (yet) and therefore not a Canadian citizen at the time of my birth.
Me - Born in USA in 1994.

Towards the bottom, there are 3 Categories:
Field of study
Points are awarded based on the field of study of the eligible education credential being used for the OINP application.
STEM/health (engineering, health, math, computer science) and trades (agriculture and natural resources operations and management, mechanics and repair, architecture, construction and precision production) - 12 points
Business and administration, social, legal, education, behavioral science, personal, security and transport services, social work and related programs - 6 points
Arts and humanities, business, humanities, arts, social science and education (BHASE) programs, not elsewhere classified (n.e.c) - 0 points
I'm pursuing a degree in psychology and I'm very uncertain of whether it falls under the behavioral science category or the BHASE category.
Hi everyone,
I’m currently sponsoring my boyfriend’s PR application, which we’re doing through the common-law sponsorship route. We’ve been living together for 2 years, and our application is in process in Quebec—we’ve already received the CSQ and are just waiting for the federal processing. However, it seems like it could take at least another year before PR is finalized.
I just received a job offer in a location that’s 3 hours away, and unfortunately, my boyfriend can’t move with me due to his job commitments. This would mean that I would have to relocate by myself.
My main question is: Is it true that for common-law sponsorship, we must continue to live together in the same residence? If we go through a legal marriage, would that allow us to live separately within Canada and still keep his PR application on track?
I read that IRCC can cancel valid stamped visitor visa’s anytime.
How can I check if my parents visa is still valid? Do you receive any communication from IRCC or you find out about it at the airport while trying to checkin when they verify your details ?
They got it a couple of years back and is valid until 2028 and I am planning their first trip to Canada for next summer.
Just trying to be realistic before I get too excited about a life in, say, Toronto.
If there are trades Canada is looking for as a basis for immigration, perhaps I could learn one -- but that sounds like a slow road also with low odds.
I put "Citizenship" for flair, but I would think right of residency would do as well. I would not need a job -- I'm self-employed, and do not absolutely need to work.
Having trouble finding answers but I'm a citizen by descent and I wanted to know what steps I need to take if I wanted to immagrate[Besides getting a job].
I recently applied for my SIN, but that might have been putting the cart before the horse.
I'll also have my American wife and <18 child. -Thanks.
Hi all,
Sorry for asking a question that is 100% over asked here but I am confused about my prospects at Canadian citizenship. My grandfather was born in Canada in 1886 in Ontario. He moved to Michigan and had my mother there with an American. My mother was born in 1912 in Michigan. I was born in 1942 in Michigan. I understand that there is a bill being passed stating that citizenship being limited by 1 generation is unconstitutional. Does this apply to my situation? Furthermore, can I pass on Canadian citizenship to my children and grandchildren?
Thank you for any leads on this!

2 months ago I was arrested for DUI. I wasn’t driving at the time. The designated driver of the night crashed the car, we all got out to check the damage, and when the police pulled up I was sitting in the drivers seat finding registration and insurance (it was my car). Even though all 3 of us admitted I wasn’t the one driving, I was still brought in on DUI, and 3 other charges (obstruction, harassment 2nd, and obstruction. don’t get argumentative with cops road side) that were never filed. I’m signing a plea deal next Monday that dismisses everything and brings the DUI to just a public intoxication. I’m filling out my TRP application on my own, as the Canadian lawyers charge an arm and a leg to process it for you. I received a CJO at an airline that requires the TRP for work travel. I have a flight to YYZ scheduled in mid December to process the application. Do I need to disclose all 4 reasons why I was arrested, and that 3 were never filed? Or do I just include the DUI and the final charge/sentencing from that?
I'm trying to figure out if I'm eligible or already have Canadian citizenship through my dad. Does anyone have a similar experience or advice on resources?
My dad was born in Toronto in 1957 to a Canadian citizen (his dad) and I believe a British citizen (his mom - sadly she's passed on so I'm not sure what her citizenship was). They moved to the US when he was five and changed his citizenship to American since it was before dual citizenship was allowed. I've tried the "Am I a Canadian tool?" on the IRCC See if you may be a citizenship page, but it didn't have an option that included this scenario. Thank you!
Hi all,
I took 3 weeks vacation and 1 week PTO and was paid for all of them. Does it count towards my work experience for CEC? Also, Per IRCC, they count 2 week vacations for period of 52 weeks. Moreover, I was paid for stat holiday but never work will that be counted as well?
I'm doing a PNP in Ontario and I'm currently working as a retail butcher, however recently I started getting offers to work in my study field (in IT) and one of them is quite promising with almost double pay of what I currently earn. Would it be worth it to switch jobs after working for almost half a year for my current employer?
Currently, I am on an open work permit with one year of management experience in Canada. I would like to explore more options for permanent residency.
I am wondering if I can take the Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) course and obtain a license that would help me secure a job in the childcare sector. If I get a job in this field, will it create any problems for my application to the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), considering that I do not have an educational background or experience in this area?
Hello, I have been approved for a study permit while in Canada and been issued a Letter of Introduction, but I do not have the Study Permit paper itself--I need it for the January semester as an international student. I have sent my passport for a student visa stamp, and apparently my study permit arrives by mail? It's been a while and canada post says no inbound mail on the way.
I plan on traveling soon and return after Christmas. I'm wondering if Flag poling is the only way to obtain the study permit. Or if I can be proactive and obtain the study permit here in Canada so it will be a smoother process when arriving back. I already have a visitors record and visitors visa, and I am sponsored with my family on work permit here. Any suggestions or confirmations are appreciated, thanks!
Just had my IEC WP approved in 2 weeks which was super quick so now to get the ball rolling.
Looking at relocating from Ireland to Vancouver by the end of next year as per the Port Entry letter!
Any tips would be greatly appreciated re: best medical insurance along with anything little golden nuggets about getting accommodation or best banks/mobile networks??
TIA!

Hi Everyone,
If anyone can please help me out with my question that would be great!!
please see the following details :-
I have applied for my PR application under CEC on MARCH 01, 2024 (since i got my invitation)
I also applied for my BOWP on JUNE 10, 2024 (while inside Canada)
And my PGWP expired on JULY 01, 2024
Now i'm waiting for my PR since (last approx 8 months) or BOWP (last 5 months). And unwilling i would have to travel to INDIA (my home country for a family emergency) in JAN 2025. I luckily have visitor visa stamp till 2027.
I have already tried Web Forms, but RICC said its still under process, both of my files
So what should i do, if i have to travel for sure?
And, having VISA STAMP will help?
What will happen with my Job?
Thanks🙏
Looking for some advice or insight for anyone who has gone through spousal sponsorship for PR with a US partner and has had to travel back and forth before getting their/their spouses PR card. I'm a Canadian Citizen and my wife is a US citizen. For context, we are both trans and my wife is a visible minority. We got married in April of this year, we live together in Ontario, and we were planning on submitting our PR application in January because my wife needs to go home for Christmas to see her dying grandmother first and we know once we are in the application process that traveling out of country will be almost impossible for her. We're worried with the fallout from the election that they are going to give us a hard time crossing the border coming home to Canada because of the expected increase of US residents wanting to immigrate. We'll be driving back across in a private vehicle. We're trying to figure out if they'd be easier on us if we've already submitted our application or not. I've tried to find any information on if we applied before we go if there is any documentation we need to come back by private vehicle but the government website just keeps kicking me around between the same three pages that don't really answer the question. If we submitted the application this month and brought documentation that we submitted it along with a copy of our marriage certificate with us, would we need a PRTD to come back? Or do you think they would give us an easier time coming back if we just said "we were holding off on applying for PR until after this trip"? Any insight anyone can provide would be super appreciated! We may reach out to an immigration lawyer just for a second opinion too.
Hey there! So, I’m trying to navigate the Canadian citizenship eligibility process for my child, and, admittedly and embarrassingly, I can’t figure out which rules apply to her.
Her grandmother was born in Canada, and is a Canadian citizen. Grandma moved to the US in the 1970s.
Her father was born in the US in the 1980s. His parents applied for his Canadian citizenship in the early 1990s, and it was granted. He has lived in the US his whole life, but he has a Canadian passport and citizenship certificate.
Our child was born in the US in the 2010s.
I know that her citizenship is not automatic since she was not born in Canada, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out if she is even eligible to apply for a citizenship certificate or not.
Thank you so much in advance for your assistance!
I got FD last week and the Copr thing is showing on tracker and it's expiry my question is can I apply to university's with that or do I have to wait for the eCOPR they give after p2
Hi all,
I (28F) am from the United States. I submitted my Express Entry application in July and planned on moving in with my girlfriend of two years sometime in May 2025. However, her living situation drastically changed recently, and I would like to be there for her as soon as possible. I'm still waiting to be invited to apply for PR; I was hoping in the meantime that I would be able to visit her for up to six months while I search for a job in the Edmonton area.
I currently have a job that is 100% remote, so I would like to look into the digital nomad route, but I'm unclear as to what documents are needed for that. Every time I go through the IRCC, it recommends the Express Entry route and says I don't qualify for other visas; that being said, I didn't see anything on the website itself regarding digital nomads. My remote job is only part-time, but it pays well enough for me to help with rent and groceries while we work on getting ourselves financially stable.
My current plan is to drive to the border with proof/documentation in December after my lease is up, but I'm not sure what is necessary for simply visiting while we sort out things legally. I would change my status if/when I find a job or ask for an extension, and if all else fails, I will likely be able to stay with family in the States. We've also discussed marriage and sponsorship, but since there are so many different options, it's difficult to know which would be the best in this situation.
Any advice would be appreciated, as I'm struggling to understand the order of operations since getting a job in Canada would enhance my score, but I think being able to go to interviews and being physically present in location would make it more likely that my resume is viewed.
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to ask for guidance on an issue with my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). I recently graduated with a one-year full-time Master's in Engineering from Western University. Based on the updated IRCC policy from January 2024, international students with such a program should be eligible for a 3-year PGWP. However, I was issued only a 1-year permit valid until November 2025.
To add to this, I’ve noticed my PGWP is also limited due to my passport, which expires in March 2027. I’m confused about why my work permit doesn’t extend the full duration up to the passport's validity date and only covers a short period.
Has anyone else faced a similar situation? How did you approach requesting a correction from IRCC? I plan to use the IRCC Webform with supporting documents like my final transcript and a confirmation letter from my school, but any tips or experiences would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Hi let say i have my visa stamped but haven’t come to canada what are the chances if i re apply i will get a visa again.
Hi all,
I am currently on a closed working permit working for a management consulting firm and have worked on it for 1.5 years. I hear there are layoffs coming and I am looking to switch jobs. Which of the two paths below is more suitable in my case:
Apply and hopefully secure a new job and wait for the new company to do a LMIA. Would the employers even be willing?
Start the PR process and apply for BWOP. In this case, do I have to wait for BWOP to be approved (I know it takes 3-4 months) before I could start working for a new employer?
Which of these is the better path? Thanks and any advice would be helpful as I am not well informed on the process.
I am recently graduated and have applied for pgwp and I got wp ext valid for 6 months. My sin is expiring soon. Do I have to renew my sin with wp ext valid for 6 months? Or do I have to wait for pgwp to renew sin??? Please give me suggestions guyss.
I’m in a bit of a pickle and my wife and I can’t decide on whether the inland or Outland visa is best for us. I’m a US citizen and she’s Canadian. Ideally, I would like to visit her for a few months at a time while the application is processing, and once we received AOR I’d like to apply for a work permit and stay until the application was complete. I think this would fall under the Outland option. If so, do I need proof of my lease and job here in the US for that? I’m mainly wondering about what kind of proof is required for inland vs Outland, if there’s a difference in proof. I wouldn’t want to be staying with her for a few months or stay with intentions of living with her after my work permit gets approved-then get rejected if we were supposed to submit it as inland, for example.
Hi, my parents’ visa application for my graduation was denied. When I reviewed the immigration officer’s notes, I found that one reason for the rejection was a sudden increase of about CAD 30,000 in their bank account, which made the officer suspicious. Apparently, some applicants temporarily borrow money to make their accounts look better for visa applications.
In my parents’ case, the increase was because they had invested in a “fixed deposit” account that offers higher interest but locks the money for a year. When the deposit matured, the funds were moved back to their regular account, causing the sudden balance increase.
Is it worth reapplying for a visitor visa with an explanation about this? I’d like them to come here, as I’m having a minor surgery and also want to meet with them as its been loooooooong
I’m a US citizen that traveled to Toronto last week by land. I told the Canadian border I would return next week on Friday but I’m thinking about staying one extra week. Would this cause any issues? I’m not sure if they document the exact date I said I would return. I think US citizens are exempt from requiring a visitor visa but I’m not sure
