I posted an article and the date stamp says I posted it one day ago. It got deleted and someone else posted it and the date stamp says 18 hours ago.
They get the upvotes and I don't.
What will you do to make Reddit a fair place to post? Will you make it possible for users to report more abuse from abusive mods?
I did screen captures of this behavior, and it is true. I even addressed it with the mod.
What is in it for the users to play on an unfair platform if users are just going to be abusive towards those who post and just steal the work that they do?
This text introduces a quote.
This is a quote.
This text responds to the quote.
Notice how the margin-bottom
on the quoted text is much larger than the margin-top
, causing it to appear much closer to the text introducing it than to the one responding to it. While it may vary between subreddits, I've found that most of the time, the quote function is used for things the user wants to respond to. Often, a user will divide another user's comment into multiple quotes and respond to each of them. The current CSS means that each quote will appear to be "associated" with the text before it, even though it's more topically related to the text after it.
Can we change this?
Both images and video are broken. Video never loads anything more than 144p, and can't stop and start again.
I have had to employ a browser plug in to block javascript just because the i.reddit images server is so hostile.
Why can't anything simply work the way it used to? Every year you break something additional. What a fuck up.
I like Reddit and i only just decided to make an account but frankly i think their r lots of changes that should be made like the default subs mostly should be changed while i do like playing video games occasionally i do not think they should be promoted as a community as they often incite violence (yes i sayd violence look it up ther are statistics) and also im not an egg head so their shouldnt be science and i am simply mortified that their is porn on the default subs that is discusting!!!! i feel same about television as i do videogaming and but i do like art i am 19 but i will be moving out of my parents house soon to study art and get an art degree and i like nosleep because i am a bit of an author my self and i like scary stories allthough no sleep doesnt scare me unlike most people because i read lots of steven king.
Now that Apple did it for iMessage, I expect it's possible everywhere. I'd like the option to display the thumbnail version of a linked gif in a comment. Or maybe a hoverover preview? Some way to see the gif without clicking. Once you get image hosting down, I have faith this won't be far behind.
I'm sick of having to use subreddit-specific spoiler tags. Just choose one sitewide and be done with it. Something easy to remember too, like
Text goes here
.
For those that use Snoonet, I use Snoonet IRC and I created #redditoholics Feel free to stop by. If you have IRC, the network to connect to is: irc.snoonet.org port: 6667 or 6697 channel: #redditoholics
This sub is dead. Anyone have any ideas for this sub?
It is very important as a mod, to listen to your users. If they suggest something, try it out. Most users want to help improve the sub. By offering suggestions, the users are trying to help.
I think having a weekly chat thread is important in all subs. It sparks conversation and helps you to connect with your users more.
Anyone have problems with mods of certain subreddits?
I'm looking for 2 moderators to help me mod this sub. The only requirements are:
If you would like to apply for a moderator position, please PM /u/grrrlriot with the subject "IdeasForTheMods Mod Application" and please specify the sub in the subject because I am looking for mods for a few other subs as well. In the message you should include:
Other subs that I mod that are currently looking for mods: (Yes, you can apply for as many subs that you want or just one. Up to you.)
I'm thinking of rounding up some CSS tutorials for mods or redditors that want to learn CSS.
I'm thinking of also making a tutorial that anyone can use regarding everything Reddit related. New redditors, older redditors, mods, non-mods, etc. could all benefit from the tutorials.
I've been thinking of creating a mod tutorial for mods, especially new mods.
What subs do you mod?
