Welcome to r/IOTA! -- IOTA is a scalable, decentralized, feeless, modular, open-source distributed ledger protocol that goes 'beyond blockchain' through its core invention of the blockless ‘Tangle’. The IOTA Tangle is a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG). IOTA is aiming to be the backbone of the emerging machine-to-machine (m2m) economy of the Internet-of-Things (IoT), data integrity, micro-/nano- payments, and other cases where a scalable decentralized system adds value.

DEX off ramp

Hello all, I'm trying to determine how to off ramp from IOTA via DEX(es) and could use your experience.

Looks like I could bridge IOTA to sIOTA in iotabee then swap sIOTA for ETH or USDC in tangleswap. Of course checking gas price to avoid some ridiculous mainnet ETH fee. From there I have options to off ramp to FIAT.

Is this the best route? I don't want to KYC in another CEX just because of IOTA, even if total cost is higher this way.

I'm not answering any DM scammers, don't waste my time.

Where can I find IOTA's TPS?

thetangle.org doesnt seem to be working anymore, and explorer.iota.org/mainnet only shows blocks per second.

Are there any scanners that can show what IOTA's average TPS is?

WHY DEXES NOT BUILT?

Iota may be a big player in crypto but no dexes are built on it; is there a special reason for this?

ELI5: What is different to "Nectar" and now?

We already had an IOTA 2.0 DevNet back in 2021 (https://blog.iota.org/iotav2devnet/).

Can someone explain what is different to the network that gets deployed this year?

Thanks in advance.

Is there any way to tell how many people are actually using IOTA as opposed to other cryptos?

Like, if I want to see IOTA's daily transaction volume, where do I go?

Fishing in Firefly wallet??

Hi all,

i just saw that i "received" or won 2k iota.. directly in my wallet.

Or is this a real thing?

I have my IOTA in Firefly 2.0.9 do i need to migrate?

Sorry for the stupid question but Im confused and haven't touched it for a while. Just updated my firefly to the latest version and i see my balance (just iota though, not other rewards i was staking for) but i see all the talk about stardust, so here is the stupid question:

Do I need to do anything migration wise or I'm set?

Design and specification of a radiofrequency spectrum trading marketplace

We continue. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4760168

Sharing radio frequency spectrum is crucial for wireless coexistence in rural and urban areas. Solutions must address potential cyber threats and vulnerabilities arising from the use of IoT and open wireless communication technologies in smart environments. This paper presents a new architecture for dynamic radio frequency spectrum sharing called spectrum trading market (STM). STM can be applied to provide a reliable spectrum market for devices. Through the temporary sale of licensed spectrum transmission rights, primary users are remunerated with IOTA cryptocurrencies for renting their transmission rights to secondary users. Spectrum occupancy verification is performed in this architecture by IoT devices equipped with sensing capabilities, which scan the medium and feed the STM database with spectrum occupancy information, remunerating IoT owners for spectrum sensing work. A proof of concept has been developed and functional and performance tests have been performed. Experimental results show the applicability of STM, yielding an average spectrum negotiation time of about 12 seconds. Performance tests show that the prototype architecture supports 20-24 simultaneous requests per minute, providing a secure and efficient way to share RF spectrum resources, which is crucial to support intelligent environments while relying on integrated information and communications technologies.

Can IOTA still have a place in the current day crypto market?

Not fudding, genuine question from someone who has been supporting the project since 2017. If we get IOTA 2.0 and L1 smart contracts, are we still poised to be one of the best protocols on the market? I know back in the day coordicide and whatnot was considered revolutionary for the space but with how many years have passed and how many new projects have launched and all that, I worry people won't actually care even if IF delivers on 2.0 and everything. I would appreciate if someone smarter than me can shed some light on this

Logging into IOTA TRINITY wallet

Hi guys,

I was an OG Iota holder from back in 2018 and I recently tried to open my iota trinity wallet (after many years) and I can't get into my account. It doesn't look like that wallet is even being used by IOTA at all now.

Does anybody know if there's a way to access my wallet?

Thanks a lot.

Just started my firefly client after years and all i see is 0 SMR and not a mention of IOTA, what to do?

The last time I used IOTA was when the first staking was introduced, then i staked it all via firefly and forgot about it.

Just today I ran the firefly client which required some updating, which went fine but I see just 0 SMR balance and not even a mention of IOTA.

What has changed (sorrry i was out of the loop) and how to get access to my IOTA again?

Also how to see the result of staking?

Questions for the IF regarding the future of the shimmer network and its tokenomics

Below is an initial list of questions the community has started compiling to ask the IF about the shimmer network, their future plans for it and the pros/cons of its current tokenomics structure. The point of this is to better inform the community so they can draft a proposal for a new shimmer tokenomics structure. Please add additional questions you have in the comments!

  1. Will you continue to support shimmer after iota 2.0?
  2. If you do continue to support shimmer, could control transition to the community post 2.0? The iF and community would work together on a release schedule/gating process to release the next R&D items like L1 SCs, ZK proofs etc.
  3. Is inflation possible on shimmer post 2.0 tokenomics / mana?
  4. What are the biggest aspects of Shimmer's current tokenomics that we're deal breakers for exchanges?
  5. If you were to re-design shimmer's tokenomics from the ground up today knowing everything you know, how would you do it?

IOTA 2 vs newer L1s in TPS and TTF?

Post coordicide, do we know what the projected transactions per second and time to finality is vs Solana/Sui/other L1s? Defi on Sui and Solana are pretty much instantaneous (much faster than Shimmer EVM, from my experience). Can we expect a similar UX for Defi on Iota 2.0?

Where did my staked IOTA go?

Hi there!

A few years ago i joined the staking program from IOTA to earn the Shimmer token. I got back just now to see what happened at it seems a lot has changed since! I downloaded both wallets, Firefly + Firefly Shimmer. Got it working by claiming my Shimmer, and that part is ok.

However, i had 50 IOTA staked too. I can see that on my old PC with the old Firefly, which does not work anymore bc the network changed. However, i did get to see my transaction history, where the last message was this one:

https://explorer.iota.org/chrysalis-mainnet/message/3cdba6d116fa08ca4e610c7fc9d95d6ba83bffe7e9fc94ec50fe9d97c9b15c67

You can see my 50 IOTA moving to a new account, which also has a 0 balance now. If i follow the trail i end up in this account, but i dont have access to that one: https://explorer.iota.org/chrysalis-mainnet/addr/iota1qrgav85atnzvwctfptw8003xtgrtlsdu0hnc3jdcst0ktx0p384uv6vzh8p

I have it setup with a Ledger device, which only returns me this wallet address: https://explorer.iota.org/chrysalis-mainnet/addr/iota1qzl4cact9zfwvazcfcnghsw50rzhr92etc95xcfqhhww9hn6lu5ju988rvy

I tried many tools the iota github offers to get my iota back + search for more address feature in Firefly, but everything returns 0.

What am i doing wrong here?

Thanks all!
