I'm learning to fly IL-2 in IL-2 1946. I found out each plane has changeable parameters like screw pitch or altitude corrector (and many others) that non-professional person like me has no chance of mastering in combination because of lack of prior knowledge.
I'm flying on realistic difficulty and want to have as much information as possible in one place.
The developers for sure had some sort of reference info they used, did they release any in comprehensible format? I didn't find anything on my own.
The max practical resolution of my current monitor is 1280x960 (it does technically support 1280x1024, but it’s letterboxed, and just kind of looks bad), and I have the problem that even at these resolutions, I can’t identify shit as a friendly or enemy until I’m practically right next to it. There just isn’t enough detail to see stuff like the yellow markings on a Bf 109 for example. So I was thinking of getting a better monitor, probably 1600x1200@75Hz or something like that, as I practically never see 1440p CRTs being sold for a reasonable price and not $3500 (I can’t stand LCDs, as it literally looks like I’m looking through a window insect screen)
So I’m wondering, is 1600x1200 enough to reasonably be able to identify aircraft, or is something higher needed?
I’m starting to see why the older sims I usually play (like CFS3) almost always had huge red and blue labels over all the aircraft, there’s no way you’d be able to see anything at 1024x768
- How long do dynamic campaigns last?
- Do they last months or years for example [between 1943 and 1944]
- Can I change aircraft variant for example can I go from a B 109 G with a central 20 mm cannon and add 20 mm pods under the wings for ground rain or can I go from BF 109 G-2 to BF 109 G-6
- Are we connected to specific units and real JG/52, JG/27 etc during campaigns?
- Is there a medal system based on our results?
- Would the results allow us to have better conditions in our squadron?
- When we are down, is the game necessarily over for us?
- Is AI good whether it is our allies or our enemies ?
This cockpit has mostly spitfire controls.
I have been playing the campaign of CLoD lately, the cliffs of dover one to be specific. I'm on the mission where I have to shoot down a lone HE-111, and I haven't had much success shooting it down. I know the hurricane has 8 0.303 cals which are very weak, but where and how should I shoot it. Also, the gunners seem to be able to snipe my water/oil and tend to kill my engine. I would appreciate any advice on how to shoot them down.
Will the game still be developed after releasing il2 korea? If so, will il2 GB get more planes and DLCs with super late war, which is the end of ww2?
Howdy, so, I have somehow managed to get il2:BOS to work on my steamdeck, however, the community controls are a bit weird, and I'd like some sort of assistance if possible, I'd like a control set where I can use one of my analog sticks to actually control the plane. I've tried making my own, but I can't get it to work.
I am interested to buy an IL-2 game thats in the range of 10-20 bucks, and currently i cant decide weather to get 1946 or Cliffs over dover
As the title says. I bought the Honeycomb Bravo Throttle, tried to set the landing gear, and found out that IL-2 registers both landing gear positions as the same button. I’ve seen a few others say they used Joystick Gremlin to get it “working perfectly” in their words, and was wondering if anyone who has experience with it can help me out here. I’m getting a headache trying to figure out what does what here. Thanks in advance.
The title is self-explanatory.
Thank you in advance
Edit: thank you guys.
Yall the tank controls are really really really bad by default and there's a mountain of options that's really overwhelming.
Does anyone have a template for a more functional/intuitive control setup? I really wanna play this game but the controls are in my way and I'm not sure how to get around this issue.
As per the title really, expected to be able to control the main aspects pitch etc using keys, but instead the game seems to only let me use a mouse or keyboard for input.
Is there a way to sort this?
Feels kinda wrong to join one of the RAAF squadrons without having an australian biography doesnt it? Theres one for a Kiwi, Canadian, Scottish, Czech and Polish pilot after all
I play on my laptop which is a Ryzen 9 7945HX, 4080, 32gb ram, running at 1440p on ultra wide with a target fps of 80. It runs at that FPS great. I never had any issues in Stalingrad, but noticed in Normandy I would get like 1 second freezes when flying low over cities, and the very odd time during dogfights (though I'm less concerned with those as it's very rare).
The FPS counter never drops below 80. I've run MSI afterburner, and the overlay shows the CPU remaining in the 70°s, GPU in the 50°s, cpu percentage never going over 30%, GPU 40-50%, GPU ram usage staying around 5-6gb/12gb, and system ram never going above 13gb. I went back to the historical graph and there were no spikes what so ever...system wise the game appears to run smooth with no bottlenecks.
Any idea on what I should be looking at?
