Paddled the lower Esopus today and we’re so surprised and happy to see (presumably) Harbor Seal No. 246!
Hi all,
As we move through the off season, I’m interested in hearing from everyone about what you feel are the biggest challenges you each face, from loading your boats, to getting in the water, concerns about capsizing, etc..
Thanks in advance for the participation!
I am looking for a relatively flatwater section of the Delaware river to canoe tomorrow, maybe 6 - 10 miles worth. Anyone have day trip suggestions and / or shuttle recommendations?
I've been interested in kayaking for awhile, and now she's like a perfect time to try it out! I just don't know how.... Should I take a kayaking tour first, make sure I like it? Should I just take the plunge and buy a used kayak for about the same price? If I did that, where do I take it? Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!
The title says it all! As the weather gets nicer, where’s everybody planning to start their season? (If you’re not a die-hard who has been out already…)
I heard the past few years the boat permits for Palisades park (Harriman, etc) have sold out. Anytime have any guesses how quick I need to be to get one?
Would there be an interest of paddling with the tide, and getting a lift back to your car? I was thinking of doing a shuttle, Kingston/Saugerties area. People could paddle one way, and get a lift back. I do not have the capability of bring kayaks with me.
Thanks to all who have joined so far!
Where are your favorite place(s) to paddle?
Anybody else fish from their boat?
