One of us has recently needed to convert to a gluten-free diet. I know that makes Chinatown more difficult, but I want to see if there are any gluten-free menus or places that are safe enough for gluten-sensitive people to eat.
I have discovered Shabu En is quite gluten friendly.
Tried them all. Aiko absolutely blew me away this weekend. I haven’t been impressed in a while. They had the Kama Toro (better than Otoro IMO) and Chutoro Crudo as specials. Everything was amazing. Just wow.
I am looking for a unicorn, maybe.
A restaurant with a patio and maybe some green space that I can host a birthday party at? Anyone have any ideas? The Butler House in the Woodlands on Gosling is a great example. But I need somewhere different. Anywhere from Woodlands to Houston!
You’ve been warned
Are there any restaurants that serve sardines? Not looking for high end restaurants that serve them with other accoutrements. Just plain sardines, maybe on a plain salad, or with crackers. Does this place exist?
Need reccs for great bars/breweries in the heights area after a show tonight! Thank you in advance👍
On the way home, there are these two options. It’s Tuesday and I NEED a good slice, please help ☺️
Does anyone know anyone who worked at Gotham Pizza downtown and is willing to share the Gotham Rolls recipe??? I've been going through withdrawals ever since they closed😭
Anyone have a good plug for the large lechon liempo pork rolls? The ones that are about 12-15 lbs for a party? My lady is unavailable and not a big fan of To Go Cafe (I prefer even crispier). Thanks!
What better do our hometown food media specialists have to do than write about ... well, each other?
The Houston Chronicle released its top 100 Houston restaurants, and in response, Culturemap published a listicle of 7 responsive hot takes, including that 11 barbecue restaurants is too many, 5 pizza restaurants is too few, and that the Chronicle has overlooked the virtue of two Galleria-area Hillstone-clone "corporate siblings".
Snarkiness aside, the whole thing makes me sad. There has to be space in this town for thoughtful, meaningful food and restaurant criticism. But it seems like all we get are TikTok "ads," lists, heat maps, and restaurant press releases published as content.

Looking to pick a great birthday dinner for steak. Recently I've had a great experience at Baso, the steak was amazing. Toca Madera seems like a very Vegas/instragmable place, didn't know if steaks or food was very good there. The nice cuts at B& B's is great. I have not been to Pappas Downtown?
What do you guys recommend?
I have been looking for a decent kimchi that I can in bulk or something. I’m talkin local person or simply a restaurant or something that has kick ass kimchi. Please lmk.
The new Montrose location is fantastic and the Golden Bowl is probably my favorite meal in Houston right now. The beef skewers (suya?) are bite for bite the most delicious food item available in all of Houston, IMO.
Tried the shrimp bowl as well and didn’t like it quite as much.
Thought their Post location was decent, but the flavors and portion sizes have definitely improved at the Montrose location.
Anyone else been yet?
So my boyfriend and I are thinking of heading out to Houston for a weekend. I'm originally from LA, and used to get dim sum at places tbat used carts. They don't really have any of those here in Austin. I'd like to give my boyfriend that experience.
Can anyone let me know if there is a Friday brunch in Houston with mimosas or any other fabulous morning cocktails?
We are in town this week, my husband is Lebanese and we don't have any Middle Eastern food where we live! In Memorial area but happy to drive a bit :)
I came across this on YouTube. They also did one for Austin and one for Dallas. This one is for Houston.
Hi, wondering if anyone have any Naengmyeon/ Korean cold buckwheat noodle recommendations. Thanks!
Looking for a place preferably close to downtown to host a dinner for 12 executives (VP’s, CEO). Ideally small private room. Needs to accomodate a couple vegetarians. Ideally avoiding steak house and seafood. What can you think of ?
I’m looking for recommendations for private dining in Houston.
I’ll have a group of 10 after an engagement and am just looking for some restaurants with nice private dining rooms.
Causal to fine dining, no preference or budget.
