I know he had jumped over to Klaus brewing and managed to put out a hazy ipa there that was really well received. I am actually way up in the mid-atlantic/north east but lucked into a family member being able to get me a couple of crowlers from him as Whole Foods Brewing and one that was a collab with Musical Box Brewing in the same trip.
The beers were outstanding. I am not too far from Troon and honestly they were a couple of crowlers that I put up in that same level. I drink other styles as well, not strictly a hazy drinker, but they tend to be my go to choice.
So today I had discovered a new brewery to me and saw that Musical Box followed them on instagram. That got me to thinking about Whole Foods Brewing and that I hadn't seen an instagram post or anything in a while.
Does anyone in this subreddit know where Chris ended up brewing? I don't see any new projects from him, Whole Foods or Musical Box either on their respective instagram pages, but would definitely be interested in following whatever brewery he ended up at after the closure of Klaus.
What compares to city orchards' honey lavender "lavender royale"?
I picked up the latest 12 ounce bourbon barrel Pumpkinator (orange label) and the 12 ounce "bourbon barrel, cocoa, vanilla, coffee Pumpkinator" (black label) See one photo here.
The cocoa/vanilla/coffee (black label) was too intense for my liking. My conclusion is that the coffee lends too much bitterness to the final mix, and that really dominates vanilla and any flavors from the barrel aging. The cocoa is there, but the coffee bitterness is too much for my liking, and I love great coffee but this isn't the place for it.
The orange label one, with only barrel aging, was my choice over the black label. I don't know how long it's barrel aged, but the aging mellows the greenness of the regular Pumpkinator (in the 22 ounce bottles). This 12 ounce orange label version offers all of the goodness of Pumpkinator but the intense sweetness mellowed a bit. I did not detect any woody or oak flavor, and it's still a sweet beer but the barrel aging does it well presumably because this third stage barrel fermentation works out more of the sugar and gives the whole beer time to mellow a bit.
I don't usually spend $8 on a bottle of beer but I've been a Saint Arnold fan since they opened in 1994 and will sometimes buy their products.
What with the recent 2024 Pumpkinator release, I figured it would be a good time to crack open a 2022 bomber. My humble opinion is that it prolly needs another year. Spices haven't mellowed enough for my tastes.
Besides DQ, is there any other store or grocery store carrying The Veil? Any HEB carrying them?
My au pair was hoping to partake in some Oktoberfest activities (they do a big deal festival where she is from).
Does anyone know of a large festival? My cursory google search showed some out of date or sketchy looking eventbrite events.
Thanks in advance!
Is every version the canned nitrous one now? Also everything now in cans? I kind of regret recycling all the bottles I had saved for home brewers.
In a city full of delicious craft beer, I find myself sometimes looking for some nostalgic, not so tasty items. Does anyone know of any liquor stores, gas stations, or grocery stores that have Colt 45’s in stock?
All the ones I have visited are family friendly, looking for an adults only one. Thanks.
Picked up a six pack of this at HEB today, before I return it, has anyone else had it? Is is usually a bitsour? Is that just their version of bittering hops? I feel something must have gone "off" with at least the can I just had.
Figured I'd try here, we are planning on scooting over to Houston from a few hours east. Dallas had them and I stocked up while I went up there in January but I'm wondering if Houston has these cans too, whether in hole-in-the-wall craft beer shops or grocery stores. Hopefully fresh ones too. Thanks for the helpful replies.
GF and I are coming to Houston (Sept 6-8) -- going to concert on Friday evening, and on Saturday we are looking to hit up some breweries? Been looking through the lists I've found here on Reddit, Saint Arnold and Karbach are on the list already! What others would you suggest? Equal Parts is also possibly on the list!
Looking for a brewery that could produce canned water for a business with logo-ed cans. Still and, if possible, sparkling water as well. TIA
In Houston just for the night, want to go have a couple beers. My wife and son are with me. Which should we check out?
Food recommendations great too.
Looking to meet some new folks in the neighborhood. I know Equal Parts has run club and Moontower with DnD, but looking to see if there are any other of these social beer groups.
Also happy to start one up if anyone is interested!
I used them back in 2018 when they were pretty new. Their last post on social media seems to be 2022, but I don't see anything when I Google them.
I'm trying to find a location that still sells Youngs double chocolate stout. I've been looking at specs and total wine throughout the Houston area with no luck.
Not my favorite kind of beer. But I’m craving one all of a sudden.
I know spindletop has a bunch of course. But anything else I should check out?
