Have been playing for a few hours now and I have to say, the controller deadzone is fucking ENORMOUS. I keep trying to be precise in my aiming but it just won't respond. Then when it does, it's way too fast. Is there a way I can lower the deadzone?
I initially turned off Zero Dawn after playing for three hours because I found it boring and the character interactions weren’t really doing it for me cause it felt clunky n lifeless.
I decided to give it a second try after the remaster came out and man I WAS HOOKED TO THE STORY and the conversations somehow felt more alive??? This game is so visually stunning like my eyes are being blessed… I would spend minutes just staring at the environment around me its that serious
Tried giving this game a second chance after putting it down out of frustration, but the gameplay is just a complete mess. I don’t understand how no one really talks about this, despite the franchise being so popular. It’s unintuitive and feels like a chore to play. The controls are clunky and unresponsive, and the overall design is just bad. Shooting arrows at machines feels weak, melee is useless because they can one-shot you if you get too close, and the weapon variety feels like fluff since nothing deals meaningful damage. Dodging is a complete mess—normal dodges are useless because most enemies have attacks that cover a wider area than your dodge radius, which also lacks proper i-frames. And don’t even get me started on the awful sliding mechanic, you need to build momentum to slide, and afterward, you automatically crouch. Like, what’s the point? That completely defeats the purpose of sliding. You can’t convince me that the combination of weak combat moves and unintuitive dodging makes for a fun gameplay loop. Horizon should have never had combat because there’s just no justification for this mess. I’ve played PS1 games with more satisfying and enjoyable gameplay than this slop.
I should know this, but when it says certain machines are weak to a different type of element does that just mean they build up that elemental state faster?
I never thought I would like the game, always thought it'd be a rip off of Terminator... a friend convinced me to play and I fell in love, one of my favourite games ever, so when I saw "Remaster" I thought, "YES, I have not played the game in a couple of years, great excuse to get back into it"
But man, the issues the game has are so annoying, it is almost like they don't have qa... they didn't remake the game, it is just a remaster, yet...
Ducks flying low instead of high in the sky, flying through mountains, the flare/reflection from the watcher eyes seen through rocks and such from far away, the arrows not knocking some of the time, getting stuck in some places(Like, glitching through half way and then getting stuck... this remaster is a mess, I think I will just go back to play the OG now that I got the bug of playing the game again... at least it was cheap so I didn't waste that much money.
Edit: Sorry, should've specified, PC
Random theory, in H3 the machines become more sentient, they have more personality after Aloy frees them to ride. A Clawstrider acts upset if you don't take it into a battle. When healing the Scorcher lays on it's belly like it is getting a belly rub. (we better be able to ride all machines.) the thunderjaw gets annoyed if it doesn't fuck up someone's day, goes on a rampage and you have to calm it down.
Does anybody know about Europe in Horizon Universe or The British Isles.
Can I upgrade Horizon zero dawn PS4 version to PS5 version on PS5?
What Banuk content was included in HZD before the release of The Frozen Wilds (TFW)? Besides anything beyond The Cut?
I mean,
Was the Banuk mountain art and Figurine collectables there, and the collector merchant in Meridian, or did you have to explore the map again once TFW released?
Was the "A Moment's Peace" quest always in the base game?
My first play through of HZD included The Frozen Wilds, where all the Banuk content was already included as the story evolved, and it seems quite seamless, so I couldn't work it out.
It obviously copies elements of the Horizon games. On the one hand I‘m upset that they get away with this and become a PlayStation exclusive. On the other hand i see it as a big win for us consumers. Firstly we get more Horizon type games as we await Horizon 3. And secondly it will spark competition. Horizon’s concept had no real competition up until now. Meaning that Horizon 3 has to outcompete the clones to make sales. What do you think 🤔 big opportunity or big lawsuits
SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Honestly just curious on what yall think will happen in the next game. Any theories on what the outcome will be? Also I'm not sure if it's still a fact that the 3rd will be the last game but I know that's what they were saying for awhile in the beginning, that it's supposed to only be a trilogy set. Also do yall think there will be anymore major character deaths or triumphs? I hope no one in the main squad dies 😭.
Please tell me why I see stripes on the sides of the screen when I rotate the camera? FG is disabled. DLSS enabled (Quality) Video card: RTX 3060 12 gb.
I've played the HZD complete edition on PC (Steam) and I've wanted to give the HZD Remastered version a go since it came out. Yet I haven't so far because even on PC it would have required a PSN-account. Now, I've read that Sony has removed this requirement for a series of games on Steam, including HZD. But in contrast to that statement, the Steam page still says that a PSN-account is required. So, which information is correct?
Literally!
Gotta love the timing of the dude going "Oh ho ho!" right before the mountain wall swallowed Aloy whole.
So somthing that has always bothered me… how is it that a girl with a compound bow can take down a metal monster but the US military (and others) were completely unable to do so?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not mad and I love this game deeply. But for a game that seems to pride itself on having an explanation for everything, this seems woefully inexplicable. Since when are bows > guns? Machines are still reproducing, still agro towards humans. And, on that same note, if Hephaestus has become sentient, why hasn’t he just made his machines invulnerable? Idk… I am happy over here in “justified disbelief land” I have a lot of trouble explaining to people the plot of this game and how any of it is possible 😅
Anyone else feel like the Burrowers should have been mountable in the water? Like when on land you obviously couldn't use them as a mount, but in water you zoom around like they're water scooters! Give them their own machine call option. Give it commands through the Focus to stay or follow, have them attack and defend you when not ridden or hide in the nearest hiding spot if available. And when you first make your way to the Isle of Spires make it so you have to navigate your way through an area where the current is just weak enough that you can make your way through. Or through an underground old world waterway. Then on the other side have a mission with Alva to activate some tech similar to Leviathan to calm the waters in the bay. IDK just something I think about when I see them darting around underwater.
I'm about 3 hours in to horizon zero dawn (first time player) Already unlocked a bunch of trophies. I want to continue playing the rest of the game with the remastered edition. Will I need to start the game from the beginning or can I just continue from where I left off with the standard edition? If so.. what happens to the trophies I've already unlocked Thanks
I left it to play other games but honestly I missed a lot of things (like Gildun) and I don't know if I should play it again and get a lot of things, help
I decided to go back and play OG horizon again and try to platinum and do the same with DLC frozen wilds, it's been since 2018 since I played last but I know I bought the dlc. Trying to continue my old save file even confirms as much, it's telling me my savenfule contains the dlc frozen wilds but it isn't installed? So I hit triangle on the main page but it gives me an error, product not found code. So I go into psn store and it wants me to pay 10 bucks again? This happen to anyone else? It's kind of bs as my wife just bought and beat the second game so I wanted to start my old save file over for a slight recap and platinum as I said. I can't even play base game apparently because as I bought DLC before of course, it's in my save files? What the hell?
I've always known Aloy is based on the word alloy but I thought it was just an arbitrary relation to metal. Like cool, Aloy = alloy and Rost = rust bla bla bla metal world bla bla. But I decided to look it up recently and it's actually deliberate and such an apt name.
For anyone else who doesn't know: an alloy is a metallic substance composed of two or more elements, as either a compound or a solution. (Britannica)
It fits the character and themes pretty well. Not only is she composed of the old world (clone of Elizabeth/her knowledge from her use of the focus) and the new world, through her journey all of the tribes are becoming a part of her. The team she's built in Forbidden West is also pretty much a melting pot of people from all of the tribes we've seen so far.
I can't be the only one who didn't know this, surely?
Yup. I said it. I hate her. I just got to that part again, and again I couldn’t side with her.
Yarra is horrible. She is power hungry- hungry to hold onto her control over the clan as commander. So much so, she doesn’t even tell them how dire their situation is. Not because she’s worried about panic, but because she doesn’t want multiple people challenging her position. And then? Then she blames the situation on Drakka. Excuse me? You didn’t even know where the water came from, but you think the young hothead figured it out? She’s paranoid, arrogant, and broke the trust between her and the clan. I just got to the part where you have to pick sides, determined to choose her and I just can’t. She rubs me the wrong way and is way too eager to kill someone who was being proactive in a situation where she was being complacent.
They both are bad for the role. They both are hotheaded, cocky, and want control. Yarra is just worse to me.
In zero dawn I was very fond of rope casters but in forbidden west my top spot was taken by spike throwers.
In terms of game play, QoL, etc, what would you like to see in the next Horizon game?
I think we all have ideas/guesses/hopes for story developments, but let’s leave those out for now since that has the potential to get real spoiler-y real fast.
As a resource hoarder, I loved the stash system in HFW because it meant I could spend less time managing my inventory and more time playing in the world. I hope we see that or something really similar in the next one.
I also hope we get to ride more machines! Like, any machine we manage to override that’s also big enough to support Aloy’s weight. I imagine that would mean losing some of the machine’s weapons/abilities so we’re not too overpowered, but imagine riding a thunderjaw or a stormbird or a tideripper! It would be fun to choose your mount based on what you need from it (small and agile for narrow spaces or mountain regions, huge for covering large distances quickly, etc)
What would be on your wishlist?
Hello,
Playing HZD Remastered on hard. It was quite challenging in the beginning but I got into it. I’m at Into the Borderlands/Maker’s End on the main storyline. I have been doing all side content alongside the main storyline. I just reached level 40 and it started to feel a bit easy to progress. Then I saw that those main quests were level 14/15 and I was like WTF? Is the side content that powerful XP wise that you kind of ruin the challenge of the main quests if you do it all as it becomes available?
Thanks!
