I'm a part time college student and I'm graduating in a few weeks. I have a new job but not a set start date and it could be anywhere from 4-7 months. I work at a store in my college town and I want to transfer to one in my hometown so I can live with my parents and work there while I wait for my new job to start. How easy is it to just transfer stores like this? Do I initiate it by just applying to the new store or asking my current HR/managers to put in a transfer for me? Also, I haven't spoken to my current store about this yet because they've been rude/unfair to me in the past when I made it clear to them that school is my priority and they have to work around my schedule. I'm worried about their reaction when I tell them I'm basically ditching them.
DO YOUR INFOCUS
so open enrollment for 2025 benefits is closed. but we can still apply or make changes by december 31st by calling the benefits center? is that right?
Hi, does HD use PayActiv or another service to access a portion of earned hours before payday? Thanks!
How many of you are opening associates? Also, how many hours are you alone on the regular?
I ask because every store I've been in, I work my way into the opening associate, but now my conundrum is I'm alone for 7 hours of my shift. BTW, I'm a driver/ trainer in lumber.........so guess who unloads, loads trucks and can assist in departments at the other end of the store? I SAID GUESS!! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
This months infocus, I don't think they've ever touched on mental health before as a topic. Maybe they're starting to realize how shitty they treat us?
The pergola was built during the summer for lumber/garden patio promotion
I have been a supervisor for a year and I have noticed that some store associates earn 1 dollar less than me or 1.50 less than me, to be honest I think it is somewhat unfair if you put on a scale the workload they put on the supervisors and the responsibility of a department and its associates, how is the pay in their stores with respect to this? Sometimes you are demotivated by the fact that they demand you so much as a supervisor and sometimes it can be very stressful for them to only pay you a dollar or two dollars more than the rest, it's like wtf, sometimes I would like to return as a floor associate and be paid a dollar less but I would be happier and just go do my work and leave.
I’ve been working at Home Depot for 7 months part time, I go to school full time. I only worked 15-30 hours a week for the majority of my time here, but around 2 months ago a we lost a full time closer and a part timer in our department. So now I’ve been consistently working 37 hours a week.
I was placed on my final a few days ago because I was sick and didn’t have enough time to cover it. I am strongly considering just not going in anymore bc ik im probably going to get fired anyway and finals are coming up in less than 2 weeks and there’s no way I’m gonna be able to work 37 hours a week. Should I just quit?
Here is your monthly reminder to do your f-ing infocus. Quit sitting around on your free time and actually do something to keep ya busy asshats.

Does anyone from this community know in which SOP document they talk about how long before customers have to notify the store that they want to change the delivery date, it has happened to us that we call a day before to confirm the delivery and they postpone it to deliver another day and the order fulfillment associates had already finished picking the order and sometimes they are lumber package
Agony
WHY ARE U POURING IN STILL WE CLOSE AT 8 GO AWAY
This is just me ranting:
Checking out a customer and his wife. Ready to use his card.
First time: Card read error and customer goes "This card is always having issues, sorry"
Me: "It's okay, just pull your card out, and just wait for the screen -"
Without waiting for me to finish, proceed to ram his card in the 2nd time - Card read error
ME: "Wait don't---" AGAIN never let me finish nor help him, he rammed his card into the machine a third time.
Usually third times the charm right?
Yeah will the way he used so much force had FUCKED the pinpad out of commission for good. Usually it would just freeze and it just need a little rebooting, however this time the screen showed " = ( Interuppted " meaning there's internal damages. We had to call the help line and have them send out a new pinpad cause of course we don't have an extra back up one... 😮💨
Me to the customer: "The pinpad is down( cause you fucking broke it), but I can bring you---"
Again without waiting for me to finish, he walked to a different register that doesn't have tap feature. I had to follow him with his suspended reciept and told him that I can bring him to a register with a tap function if its easier for him(cause i didnt want him to break another one of our pinpad).
Him: "NO im gonna stay right where I am".
I was so done. I let the cashier know to help with the card and just went to deal with the broken pinpad. It's the weekend of thanksgiving, so it's already busy as is with all the deals still out. Only our self checkout and garden register have the tap function. Don't ask me why our mainline doesn't have it cause I don't know either.
This happen quite often where because the customer was impatient we had to constantly reboot our pinpad. And then we proceed to get yelled at by other customers cause they had to wait in line now cause the checkout process is longer with our other machine being down.
Corporate need to give us better pinpads, and the customer need to show a little more patience and let us do our job properly.
Random question. Does myApron or anywhere have a list of policies the companies has by department? Say, front end, sales department, etc.
Just want to know for I want to see if a policy mentioned by a "department supervisor" is actually legit and not them making shit up. If there is, it'd be good to know where :)
I’ve been at Home Depot for about a year now. All of my previous work has been in factories, so this is my first retail job. I’m in the hardware department and naturally our department is heavily shopped. Today I was the only associate in my department, which happens more often than I’d like, but usually it’s manageable on a Sunday. However, today was a very busy day with the ongoing Black Friday stuff. I had a customer who was waiting well over 30 minutes to have a pallet dropped, and I finally found a lift driver to assist. As I was closing the aisle there was a different customer looking for some screws and I told him I’ll help right after this pallet is dropped. He scoffed and mumbled something under his breath about it being ridiculous to have to wait. While I was on the opposite aisle flagging to keep it clear, the customer comes over and starts complaining saying “I was here before you closed the aisle off. I’m in a hurry too!” I tried to explain to him that the other customer had been waiting a while and it’ll only take a minute to drop the pallet. This was not good enough for him. He starts going on and on about customer service and then he reaches across me. I was keeping my focus on the blocked off aisle, so I didn’t know what he was doing so I nudged his arm away from me and was like what are you doing man? Apparently he was taking a picture of my apron to have my name and started talking about how it’s his right to take my picture. I’m sure that the anxiety and stress I was already feeling from the day made this seem a lot worse than it was, but it was undoubtedly the worst customer interaction I’ve had so far. To top it all off, the pallet didn’t even have what the first customer was looking for. Luckily the customer was very kind and understanding. I’m sure you others have much worse customer stories, but I’m not accustomed to this level of impatience and lack of understanding.
Can I go into Home Depot and physically ask for an interview? Also is it hard to get into the plumbing dept and only work 1-2 days a week? I’ve already submitted an application and this would be for a Brooklyn ny location
when do the rewards points expire? id rather save up and be able to get something cool but i only have 17000 as of right now. i would kinda want to get a perfume or some fun electronic thing but all i can afford rn is a whole bunch of crap i dont need nor want 🤷🏼♀️
Going great boss.
just processed this return. dude has no idea how many people want it.
I just got hired at Home Depot Canada, I start on Dec 9, already completed the online training videos and stuff! But I’m too nervous about this job. Any tips or tricks that a new associate should keep in mind?
I just get in to work yesterday, it’s a madhouse, & I’m going out to garden cash registers. When the apron goes on, the fake customer service smile & the Christina voice go on. And overall, I like my job & so I’m usually in a pretty good mood 15 minutes into my shift.
I see a couple walking down the aisle toward me, & as they come even with me, the dude says, “what are you smiling about?” And then gave an awkward chuckle to make it sound like a joke. I smiled wider & said, “bc I’m here, ready to take care of customers”. His face dropped, he avoided eye contact, & the woman with him called back “you’re awesome” as they walked away.
I know, I know, not a bad encounter at all. But seriously. Who TF does that???
So i’m 18F in the plumbing&bath department at my store and recently one of my coworkers in my department are in the hospital which she told HR, DS, CXM and the SM and they told her that they’d make arrangements on the schedule and they never did so i’ve been the only one in plumbing from about 9:30 until 5 oclock and i feel like no one is really willing to help me out bc im not very knowledgeable in plumbing and all my coworkers just tell me to help the customers and make sure to pack down at least 30 items but how am i supposed to pack down that many when its constantly busy? i need opinions and should i talk to someone about this? if so who?!
